Happy Tuesday! I am having the weirdest feeling day. After breakfast I felt super nauseous and wanted to barf (I am not pregnant) and now I have a headache (but the nausea is gone).
Luckily (?), my appetite is like 7-11 –> it never closes! So I had an apple and nuts mid-morning.
Pizza and salad for lunch. I love Lean Cuisine pizza. Well, I love ALL pizza and I have extra love for portion control!
I think anniversaries should be celebrated with cake. Heck, the #1 reason I got married was for cake! (Seriously, Ben and I taste cakes each year for our anniversary cake!)
But, I think my only cake option is still considered a sweet so I will have to wait.
Now on this little 4 year birthday of my blog I’m not going to pretend like I am
A.) Good at blogging
or B.) Have any legit wisdom to share
But, I have learned a lot about myself, strangers online and my friends from blogging the last 4 years. And I’d like to share…
The Top 12 Things I’ve Learning From Blogging (so far):
- Just because a company sends you soup/yogurt/PB/insert healthy living food doesn’t mean you owe it to them to take 260 pictures of it and rave about it.
- Your family reads all those sexual innuendos you post. So does your size 13 shoe-d sexy husband’s family
- Free food is great, but getting paid dirty green paper is better.
- Ask someone else to read important posts if you want them error free. You can read something 4 times and still post it with typos.
- You can meet real like, super cool friends online! The internet is not just for online dating anymore.
- Don’t take your laptop on your honeymoon.
- Be careful what you wish for.
- Your friends and family will call less because they already know what’s going on with you. Or maybe they just don’t like me anymore… Hey!?!
- There are millions of blogs out there. Do your own thing, figure out your voice and don’t worry about what other people are posting.
- The blog world is very similar to high school. Luckily, I had a blast in high school and I’m not afraid of a chismosa.
- Posting embarrassing things about yourself is empowering and liberating! And well, EMBARRASSING!!!
- Just because people know what you eat, doesn’t mean they really know you.
Question: Share the love! What have you learned from Blogging or Reading Blogs?
Got questions about blogging? Leave ‘em for the group!

Happy blogaversary! 4 years sounds amazing to me. I discovered your blog in the last two years and I love the mix of stuff you post about.
I started my own blog a few months ago and I’m still finding my voice. At first I wanted it to fit into a neat box, but that’s just not me! It’s kind of a struggle since I find it hard to just blog without worrying about what someone is going to think.
You’re so open and real, and that’s what I aspire to be, so thanks for being an inspiration!

Happy blog bday! I just started reading your (super duper) blog and I just started my own blog last month. I got a kick out of reading how different you see yourself and your blog now, compared to when you started… it made me realize mine’s probably pretty darn boring/lame right now being a newbie! I suppose it will evolve as time goes on 🙂

Hi Green! Congrat’s on the new blog!

Happy Blog-Birthday!
I’m celebrating my 3rd tomorrow! And I totes made a cake to celebrate…and tricked some of my friends into coming to a blogiversay party. haha.
I like #8 – It’s so true!
runeatrepeat says
I should have had a party! Happy Blogaversary to you too!!!

As a fairly new blogger I must say #9 on your list resonates with me, I guess I have to just keep typing away right? Eventually it will work.
Also, thank you for introducing me to the term “chismosa”, I can’t say I’ll ever use it, but it will be nice to have just in case!
runeatrepeat says
Ha! Glad you liked chismosa.

I’m crossing my fingers that your blog coming through isn’t just a fluke. Congratulations on your blogaversary! I’ve learned that no matter what I post, no one comments. And in the end, I’m posting for me anyway. So my craziness can hopefully be somewhat contained. Or documented for the proper authorities 😉
Lauren says
Hi, I read your blog all the time – you seem nice, but I’m curious what types of topics you are referring to for the chismosas part of your entry? I mean, I know people can be nasty and personally bitter, but where do you draw the line with people who have a fundamentally different philosophical approach to blogging? It seems like disagreeing on a lot of these blogs isn’t really addressed. I like that you put the info in your entry about having others edit your blog, because I honestly do think it is fair when this is someone’s main source of income that they be accountable for the work they put out and it should be error-free. That isn’t to say there will never be errors, but constant errors, to me, show a lack of respect for the readers who I’m assuming bloggers want to keep.
Been thinking about this a lot, so I’m interested to hear some of your thoughts.
Jenn @ Run It My Way says
I agree 10000 times with #1! There is NOTHING more irritating than reading a review of a product that a blogger has been given that just raves and raves about how life-changing a headband is, or how earth-shattering a granola bar is. Seriously! I’ve stopped reading/ following blogs that I otherwise enjoyed because I was so irritated by the reviews! I know as a blogger it’s really flattering and you feel very grateful when a company sends you free things to try, but there’s nothing more annoying as a reader than feeling like you’re stuck in an infomercial on a blog. But I digress!
I can’t believe you’ve been blogging for 4 years – I don’t think I knew what a blog was 4 years ago, but I sure am addicted now 🙂 🙂
Corrie Anne says
Oh. So true. All of our parents read my blog, and they’re very conservative… and they never call… and they know all. Also, it’s weird when you run into people you barely knew in college, and they know EVERYTHING about you, and you know nothing about them.
Love that you said chismosa!!! One of my fave Spanish words. Right up there with sapo. Lol.

I’ve spent the last year reading your blog from start to finish. I love your voice, your attitude and humor. I’ll always be a reader.

I just started blogging (goforarunalready.blogspot.com) a few months ago to help motivate myself to get out and run! And I was on stumble upon and your site came up. I instantly feel in love with it! My blog is still in the starting phase an I’m just hanging the hang of it. But your blog has shown me what it can become. You have also helped motivate me in my runs. Seeing how far you’ve come is really cool and gives me a lot of hope for my running journey as long as I stick with it. Your site will forever be one I check daily! THANK YOU!

Love this post! Your one of my favorite bloggers!
I don’t really tell my husband or my family how my days was or what’s going on in my life because I just assume they read my blog. Which they sometimes don’t. Lol

Thanks Heather 🙂

I’ve learned that text posts without any pictures need to be really really short. My attention span doesn’t extend longer than five or six sentences at a time, I shouldn’t expect my readers’ brain to either. Yours is perfect in that regard!
runeatrepeat says
My attention span is super short too!

I have learned from reading blogs that RER is the BEST blog out there :)!! I’ve also learned that my eating habbits are more normal then bizzare! It’s weird to read about peoples habbits that you don’t know when you can’t relate to a lot of people in your own life in some ways but then you read a blog and it’s so similar to your own style of doing things. Does that make sense? Hence why I don’t blog 🙂
runeatrepeat says
Thank you Meg!
Amanda@justagirl says
Happy Anniversary, I really enjoy your blog. The best part of this post is your “not pregnant” insert.
What I have learned about blogging is the fact that I have found another way to talk to myself. That is how it feels most of the time 🙂
KerriAnn says
I started getting into blogs for all the recipes. I loved the food ideas, then the workout ideas. I started my own blog to hold myself accountable & to give people some motivation or ideas. Or just some humor. Whichever.

I just started blogging in January and I am loving every minute. I find it very therapeutic to take a moment out of my day to sum up how I feel, remember fond memories and learn more about myself and others. I have really enjoyed reading your blog – it’s one of the reasons I started blogging, because it looks like you have so much fun. I am just curious about how long it took for you to have a real following on your blog? Happy anniversary! Can’t wait to celebrate my 4 year anniversary in 4 years hehe.
Maureen says
Happy 4 years RER! Even though I’ve only been blogging about 4 months, I’ve already connected with some great people out there! I am still trying to find “my voice” but it gets easier with every post.
Anne @ LoveMintChocolateChip says
Happy 4 Year Anniversary! I love, love, love reading your blog and follow it everyday. You are one of the reasons I was inspired to start my own blog 🙂 My favorite part of reading blogs goes back to when I was not in a healthy place in my life with my relationship with food and exercise- I discovered the healthy living blog community and saw real women like YOU who eat clean and exercise but are also enjoying life and living it to the fullest- it really pulled me out of a dark time in my life!! Now, I have started my own blog and hope to impact others in the same way- just by posting about my crazy, trying to be healthy life! Keep up the good work! I love RER!!
runeatrepeat says
Thanks you so much Anne!

Congrats! I love this blog and hope for many more years.

I always see your comment right after I read your blog. It’s so weird!
Erin says
I Love this post! As a new blogger, I always wonder if I sound silly or if people other than my friends are really even enjoying/reading it at all. The way I see it is as long as a couple people find it interesting and give me some decent feedback, I’ll keep on going with it. But hey…it’d be nice to one day maybe make a little extra $$$ along the way. I’ve also tried signing up to do reviews and such…how did you get started with this and how did you make your blog so successful? Happy Anniversary!
runeatrepeat says
Companies contact me and offer to send product or running gear. I don’t know how they find me, but it’s every day now.
I don’t consider RER super successful compared to some of the amazing blogs out there, but it was a long road. Just keep plugging away, that’s how I did it 🙂
Laura is Undeterrable says
Amen to #1! Althought no one sends me free stuff, I get bored of reading about and seeing a million pictures of a $1 thing of yogurt. It tastes yummy? Great! Don’t care…
I’m TRYING to learn to be myself, but I’m such a people pleaser that I’m afraid to say what I really think sometimes. I’m afraid of that first troll comment.

I have been blogging off and on for a few years but had not found my place till recently. I would love to grow faster but very thankful I have been given these few months to figure out exactly what I want to say. blogging is wonderful but you are right, everyone already knows whats going on! fewer calls…
Amanda @ Semi-Health Nut says
I like this list. I’ve blogged a little over a year and I feel like I learn more about it every single day (and more about myself and who I am–deep). http://www.semihealthyblog.com/
I’ve also learned that there is a lot of talent out there, so it is super important that us bloggers be ourselves…because reading the same thing over and over on different blogs gets BORING! We are all unique and therefore have our own spin to bring to things.
I am not a regular reader of your blog, however every time I stop over I enjoy your honesty and humor. Thanks for blogging and happy anniversary! 🙂

Thanks Amanda!

Happy Anniversary!!! My husband and I get a “real” one tomorrow – leap year wedding.
Good list. I still have LOTs to learn, just started. I am still a bit nervous about making it public to all my family/friends/boss type people. Not many people in my real day to day life know I am doing a blog. Weird?
