Yesterday was a bad snacking day. Between the time change and getting 3 hours of sleep I was hitting the kitchen when I should have been hitting the bed. I randomly ate a pb&J and half an avocado with tortilla as an afternoon pick-me-up. I wasn’t hungry, just tired. Bah.
Dinner was leftovers of Mexican food Ben made while I was gone. I guess he missed his Mexican wife and needed some comfort food from my people
Dessert was Greek. As in yogurt – frozen to be exact.
This morning I have some very important stuff on my mind!
…away from the New York City Marathon!!!
I usually do a 12-16 week training program depending on what shape I’m in, but I don’t feel like I’m in good shape at all right now. So I’m going to ease into training for the next 2 weeks and then officially do a 16 week marathon training program.
Today I did 6 miles and felt pretty okay. Oh, and my braid fell out at some point?! After my first marathon I basically had to tear my hair apart trying to untangle it and ever since then I braid it. Luckily I felt it fall around mile 5 so it’s not too bad.
I had eggs and an english muffin when I got back home. Oh, and an extra piece of toast because I was still hungry.
We have no fruit in our house so I need to run to Costco today and stock up!
Okay, off to work. See ya later!
*Yes, I’m sucking it in like a mo-fo in that picture. Don’t judge my pansa.
Question: What fruit do you have at home (or in your lunch box) right now?
Are you still training for a triathlon while you are marathon training?
If I ever get to a pool, yes. It’s just a sprint tri so it’s 200m swim, 9m bike, 3 m run so I could just muscle it without actually training.
Right now we have bananas, apples, watermelon, cherries, prunes and cranberries. I like a variety!
too funny!!
I’m headed to the store today. I was in Atlanta for a few days, and I’m pretty sure my children didn’t eat much by the way of fruits and veggies from their daddy. I grabbed a couple things yesterday in a quick in and out stop. So, I have a nectarine and an apple. Must get berries soon!
Green apples, plums, a banana and jackfruit (local fruit).
Had cherries & mango tonight! Different than usual but super delicious!
Yay for NY Marathon training!
That’s so weird that your braid came out while running! Thanks for mentioning the knotty hair thing, though–I usually wear my hair in a messy bun when I run, but I’m thinking that that could get knotty once I hit longer distances, so maybe I’ll give a braid a try!
omg I was so excited..and then realized I was duped
Pineapple, watermelon, blueberries, strawberries, kiwis, grapefruit, bananas…geez no wonder my grocery bill’s so high!! I guess I’d feel lost without fruit in the house too!
You look fabulous!
I didn’t realize it is 18 weeks until NYC. I guess I better get my training schedule ready. Except I’m running a marathon next week. Guess I’ll have to do a little recovery and then start with a 14 or 16 week plan.
I’m training for my first half marathon! You have no idea how motivating your posts are …I know we’re going for different things, but it helps 🙂
Right now we have kiwi (thanks Costco), bananas, and homemade canned peaches (like candy!).
I’m so jealous you’re running the NY. Thats on my bucket list 🙂
I went to the store today to restock on fruit…bananas, watermelon x2 (we could be bff’s and eat watermelon all today together), pineapple x 2, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, and kiwi. Plus a few apples, oranges, and pears just to have in case!
I have a banana and CHERRIES!! I also have half a tomato cuz that’s a fruit, right?
Hi Monica!
I stumbled across your blog a couple weeks ago and just love it! Very catchy name (I too run so I can eat more :). And you inspired me to start my own blog about my journey to my first marathon! I am starting off with a half in October (Long Beach) to see how it goes and then do a marathon some time after (hopefully!).
Also wanted to mention I too need to braid my hair whenever I run or swim or else I have a million tangles! And my braid falls out periodically when I run (so annoying!). I have to buy scrunchies on a regular basis, they just slide off my thin fine hair (ugh!)
As for current fruit in the house: strawberries, bananas, and cherries. Tomorrow is a grocery day, so I will probably get some watermelon, papaya, and replenish what I currently have. Keep blogging, I love reading all about it!
Hi Nicole! Thanks for reading 🙂
I am running my first marathon but would love it if you shared your training program?!
Truthfully, most of the time I just kinda piece together my own. For your first I would suggest following one of the pros 🙂
Keep sucking it in! You look super skinny girl! 🙂
Still sucking in! This is not easy…
Hahahahaaaaa! I was like “ummm since when is she pregnant!?! What??? Did I miss something?”
You sneaky lady… definitely almost had me. And as if you would need to suck it in anyway 🙂
I have a semi-scary looking banana hanging out on my desk for snack time (yes, I have snack time at work. Wouldn’t want low blood sugar!) and an awful lot of scary fruit at home that needs to be dealt with. Fingers crossed that the boyfriend remembers that he, too, can clean out the fridge.
Best training announcement ever! I may have to remember that little trick for upcoming races!
No fruit in our house, but I’ve been craving watermelon like mad. I’m going to make my husband pick some up on his way home from work tonight.
Haha you are sooo funny! I was beginning to think it was an epidemic! 😉
I always have fresh fruit in my house. Usually apples (I eat one every day). Right now I have apples, strawberries and Bing cherries!!!
i felt like such a failure for missing that you were pregnant. then i realized that it was a joke. you got me!!
I’ve got oranges, apples, bananas, and grapes. I resisted the urge to get the gigantic costco size mango slices (I eat them WAYYYY too quick).
The title caught me for a sec, and then I remembered the marathon training. Tee hee!
You little shit, totally thought you were pregnant, I’m such a sucker!
hahha — nice fake out:)
Ha, this made me laugh! Also, love the hair color! If I could rock the red I would – love that it’s your natural! So excited to read updates of your marathon training!
I currently have an apple in my mouth, so there is definitely fruit in this house!
I have a little watermelon that will be finished before the sun goes down, some strawberries and a half pint of blackberries. Oh and 2 bananas. All of this will be gone by the time I go to the store for the next haul…I don’t ever seem to have a problem finishing it off every week. 🙂
I have no fruit but I’m dying for “quitting time” so I can go by the store and buy cherries on sale!! My daughter is out of town so I get to devour the entire bag all by myself!!!!! Can’t wait!
Watermelon, pineapple and peach. 🙂
I always try to have tons or fruits and veggies on hand! Current fruit is: watermelon, apples, nectarines, bananas, cherries, grapes & pineapple. Yum!! 🙂
At home I have … bananas, blueberries, cherries, grapefruit, apples and oranges. I’m a fruity kind of gal! Haha.
LOL. Ur hilarious!
Good luck with your training. I’m excited to follow along with your journey to the NYC marathon!
My hair is a rats nest if I run with a pony tail. I have to do a braid or a bun, but a bun usually doesn’t stay.
Watermelon and a banana. Normally I’d have strawberries too but we ran out last night and I was too lazy to re-stock.
Pansa? What pansa? OMG, I love when you let out a Spanish word on the blog, makes me giggle and think I’ve totally found my blogging better half (better half, since you run marathons and I can barley run down the block). LOL
I have no fruit at all! I was out of town last weekend and am leaving for Vegas tomorrow, so somehow the grocery store didn’t happen. I guess I have some frozen berries, but those don’t really count.
I almost was going to Vegas this weekend too! My friend Susan invited me, but I’m going to turn it down. I need a weekend at home.
FIGS!!
From Costco.
YUM!
Mmmm fresh figs are my favorite. Hope my Costco gets some soon!
Rainier cherries, u-pick strawberries, honeydew melon, bananas.
Yeah, I like fruit too. 🙂
Ha! That was cute.
I have 0 fruit in my house because my guy is in charge of grocery shopping while I’m on the couch recovering. The closest I have is apple butter, I think I may need to fire him, or at least put him on probation…
Bananas that are about to go bad, apples, nectarines, strawberries, one orange and blueberries 🙂
Haha- you had me for sure with that profile pic! Well done and thanks for the laugh! I love your writing style and sense of humor!
Thanks 🙂
I have an orange and blueberries in my “lunch box” for work today. Yum. I am finding fresh fruit is really helping my diet along and curbing my cravings for sugar too.
Hehehe. This made me laugh!! I was like, “Wait, she’s pregnant? How did I miss that!?!?” =)
Hopefully we can meet up when you are in NYC for the marathon, lady!!
Current fruit in house – blueberries, apples, strawberries, grapes, and bananas. I’ve gotten a lot better with always having fruit b/c the little guy LOVES fresh fruit. It’s the perfect snack and so much healthier than other options!!
