18 Weeks…

Marathon

FacebookTweetPin
28 Jun

Yesterday was a bad snacking day. Between the time change and getting 3 hours of sleep I was hitting the kitchen when I should have been hitting the bed. I randomly ate a pb&J and half an avocado with tortilla as an afternoon pick-me-up. I wasn’t hungry, just tired. Bah.

Dinner was leftovers of Mexican food Ben made while I was gone. I guess he missed his Mexican wife and needed some comfort food from my people Winking smile

Dessert was Greek. As in yogurt – frozen to be exact.IMG_5252 (600x800)

This morning I have some very important stuff on my mind!

I am less than 18 weeks*…suck in that pansa

…away from the New York City Marathon!!!

I usually do a 12-16 week training program depending on what shape I’m in, but I don’t feel like I’m in good shape at all right now. So I’m going to ease into training for the next 2 weeks and then officially do a 16 week marathon training program.IMG_5256 (800x600)

Today I did 6 miles and felt pretty okay. Oh, and my braid fell out at some point?! After my first marathon I basically had to tear my hair apart trying to untangle it and ever since then I braid it. Luckily I felt it fall around mile 5 so it’s not too bad. IMG_5261 (800x600)

I had eggs and an english muffin when I got back home. Oh, and an extra piece of toast because I was still hungry.IMG_5266 (800x600)

We have no fruit in our house so I need to run to Costco today and stock up!

Okay, off to work. See ya later!

*Yes, I’m sucking it in like a mo-fo in that picture. Don’t judge my pansa. image

Question: What fruit do you have at home (or in your lunch box) right now?

Are you still training for a triathlon while you are marathon training?

If I ever get to a pool, yes. It’s just a sprint tri so it’s 200m swim, 9m bike, 3 m run so I could just muscle it without actually training.

I’m headed to the store today. I was in Atlanta for a few days, and I’m pretty sure my children didn’t eat much by the way of fruits and veggies from their daddy. I grabbed a couple things yesterday in a quick in and out stop. So, I have a nectarine and an apple. Must get berries soon!

That’s so weird that your braid came out while running! Thanks for mentioning the knotty hair thing, though–I usually wear my hair in a messy bun when I run, but I’m thinking that that could get knotty once I hit longer distances, so maybe I’ll give a braid a try!

I didn’t realize it is 18 weeks until NYC. I guess I better get my training schedule ready. Except I’m running a marathon next week. Guess I’ll have to do a little recovery and then start with a 14 or 16 week plan.

I went to the store today to restock on fruit…bananas, watermelon x2 (we could be bff’s and eat watermelon all today together), pineapple x 2, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, and kiwi. Plus a few apples, oranges, and pears just to have in case!

    Hi Monica!
I stumbled across your blog a couple weeks ago and just love it! Very catchy name (I too run so I can eat more :). And you inspired me to start my own blog about my journey to my first marathon! I am starting off with a half in October (Long Beach) to see how it goes and then do a marathon some time after (hopefully!).
Also wanted to mention I too need to braid my hair whenever I run or swim or else I have a million tangles! And my braid falls out periodically when I run (so annoying!). I have to buy scrunchies on a regular basis, they just slide off my thin fine hair (ugh!)
As for current fruit in the house: strawberries, bananas, and cherries. Tomorrow is a grocery day, so I will probably get some watermelon, papaya, and replenish what I currently have. Keep blogging, I love reading all about it!

I have a semi-scary looking banana hanging out on my desk for snack time (yes, I have snack time at work. Wouldn’t want low blood sugar!) and an awful lot of scary fruit at home that needs to be dealt with. Fingers crossed that the boyfriend remembers that he, too, can clean out the fridge.
