Run Eat Repeat

Be Fit and Pain Free Event

Breakfast

FacebookTweetPin
29 Jan

Hello! I was scheduled to do some kind of work out at the event I attended this morning, but I wasn’t sure what. So, I fueled up with an egg sandwich before heading out. egg sandwich

The inside had laughing cow cheese and polka dot ketchup Smile

Plus a jug of iced coffee for the long drive to LA! I keep forgetting I live in Orange County until I try to go somewhere in Los Angeles and it takes forever! Luckily there was no traffic and it was all smooth sailing driving.

I was invited to attend the “Be Fit and Pain Free in 2011” event in Hidden Hills, California. Trainer to the stars – Kathy Kaehler was there to put us through a work out and talk about the Salonpas patches.

Kathy Kaehler and Monica

I didn’t run today in hopes that this would be a legit workout and it was! Well, it’s always about what you put into it, right! And I made sure to try my best Smile IMG_7488

We did a fun circuit of planks…

IMG_7481

Okay maybe the planks were the least fun, but I do LOVE circuit workouts! We used to do circuits in the weight room in high school and it was fun to keep changing it up! IMG_7501

Chair squats…

IMG_7482IMG_7485

Bicep curls with a resistance band…

IMG_7489 IMG_7492

My favorite was the trampoline! I had a little one like this when I was a kid and LOVE it! trampoline workout

See…IMG_7496

okay, you get the idea Winking smile

IMG_7497

We also did: squats, steps ups on a board, triceps dip, shoulder raises, and used sliders – I think there were 8 circuits in all.

After she showed us how to do the exercises we did each for one minute and rotated around the room.

Then, we had the opportunity to sit down with Kathy and the other bloggers and chat.

IMG_7503

I met SkinnyRunner and a few other new faces and blog readers! The best part of these events is meeting other bloggers from the area Smile  I didn’t realize she was in the OC too. I live in Lalaland, sorry.

The event was sponsored by Salonpas, the company makes pain relief patches. You are supposed to put use them on a sore or injured area and pain relief can last up to 12 hours! I’ve had relationships that don’t last that long!

Salonpas patches

My left IT band has been achy, so I’m going to try it today and let you know what I think.

On the way home I had an apple. I wish I could show you more of the private community where we had the event. I bet there are a lot of celebrities living in this place! But sadly, we were sworn to discretion (not my strong suit, but I agreed).

Now I’m off to my little brother’s basketball game. See ya in a bit!

What a fun event! I totally have a mini trampoline that looks like that, I can’t wait until I can move out of my apartment so I can actually use it!

I am laughing because you can totally see me “cheating” on the plank here. My ass is in the air. At least it looks good! 😉

I had fun today! I need to do more circuit workouts like this. Especially planks, which I have a love/hate relationship with.

And yeah I wish we could have taken pictures of the community too. It was so pretty!

Normally I would have run before doing anything else, but this is my easy week before I start “real” marathon training.

Hey, give me a break – we can’t all do 37 Yassos in one session!

(No, I will never get over that joke.)

        Ha! Thanks 🙂
The main reason I even eat egg sandwiches is because Ben is obsessed with them and it’s rubbed off.

What a TOTALLY cool event. A) because it had bloggers which is awesome and B) because living pain free is a daily battle for me and my joints

      Sounds like a fun event!

I tried those patches after my marathon; they gave them out at the expo. I had a sore lower back from my fuel belt (I think). I stuck one of those puppies on and the next morning the pain was gone! They work very well from my experience with them and I’d definitely recommend them to anyone with localized pain.

I’ve heard Salonpas advertised on the talk radio station I listen too. I’d love to hear if they work on your IT band.

Looks like a fun morning. Training with a trainer to the stars is pretty awesome.
