I LOVE eating cooking. But I’m not Ina Garten. I’m more like Semi-Homemade’s Sandra Lee.

Except I’m more like a semi-homie. #TBT #NotReally
So here is another semi-homemade recipe – Pumpkin Cream Cheese
I mentioned Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Cream Cheese in my Fall Must Haves post, but I didn’t end up buying it because I was already stocking up more than enough!
But, the pumpkin seed was planted in my head and I have been craving it ever since. So, I threw together a quick and dirty version this morning.
-
1 Tb. pumpkin
-
1 Tb. cream cheese
-
packet sweetener of your choice
-
pumpkin pie spice
Enjoy!
Today is October 3rd. And that’s a really BIG deal.
(source)
No. That’s not why it’s a big deal.
It’s exactly 30 days until the New York City Marathon!!!
This week on the ING Runner’s Nation page the team is challenging you to say “Hola!” (or whatever that is in your native tongue) to fellow exercisers.
But I actually have 3 other races before that! Yes. I have one free weekend and then shit gets crazy – post on my upcoming races coming soon!
Fun Feature – I was recently chosen to be a Zevia Certified Smart Person! This means I get to drink Zevia and tell you what flavors are best and you hafta take my word for it because they said I was smart. Sounds like a good deal to me. (Zevia is soda sweetened with stevia!)
Question: Do you tell people ‘hello’ when you’re working out?
I have a bunch of regular people I see on my strolls and I know who says “hi” and who doesn’t.
Erika says
I try and say hi or at least smile when I see other runners/walkers.
Sarah G. says
Pumpkin pie spice! I need to get that.
I always say a quick “Hi!” if I’m not completely out of breath. Otherwise I will give the nod. I love runner camaraderie!
Ashley @ BrocBlog says
Im a huge fan of “the nod” between runners because it makes me feel like were in a cool club and it makes me sad when people go for the “completely ignore other person” because Im midwestern and youre supposed to act suspiciously friendly.
Caitlin @ RunMimsie says
What is the difference between Stevia and all other non sugar Sweetners? I’ve heard a lot about I’ve just not heard what exactly it was and why it’s better…
Awww I used to Live in NYC and the Marathon runs by my old apartment in Brooklyn! If I ever ran a full marathon, that would be it! Have fun! 🙂
runeatrepeat says
Stevia is from a plant that’s super sweet, it’s not a chemical-y thing made up in a lab like other sugar subs. You can use a packet of sugar if that’s what you have too 🙂
quix says
I smile and wave. My husband says hi or good morning. People in Austin are friendly so rarely do we get the brush off.
Except during speedwork – they’re lucky to get a smile then. 🙂
Jenn says
My husband accidentally bought Zevia at Whole Foods, not realizing it was sweetend with stevia. We couldn’t even finish one can due to the overpowering fake sugar taste. I brought it to work and couldn’t give it away. I’m wondering if certain people just have a taste aversion to the fake sugar taste? I know stevia is “natural” but tasted just like sweet n low to us.
runeatrepeat says
Yeah, I’m already used to stevia so I don’t mind it. But some people think stevia has a weird after taste and/or is too strong.
Dana says
This cream cheese looks incredible! I almost bought it at TJs too but thought about making my own instead! This will go amazing with pumpkin bread/muffin mix & pumpkin bars I just bought!
val says
Biggest pet peeve is walkers / runners acting like Im invisible. Im not talking a busy running trail where we’re constantly passing by people (that would be exhausting), but where and when I run you only pass a few people (Im talking 5 mile run I MIGHT pass 5 people). Nod, Wave, smile or mouth hello but dont act like we arent passing each other on the same sidewalk..I feel better now:-)
Sue says
50:50, the other 50 being the times I’m probably outta breath while trying run uphill or keeping up with my run buddies. So it’ll be a wave of the hand.
Jon says
Great simple recipe! Gotta try that for the fall mood. I usually say hi to people as we pass but I noticed it depends where I’m at with my run. I tend to greet others more in the beginning, but towards the end, my focus is on my run and I just zone out and focus on the trail.
Flower says
I say hi or wave…unless they try talking to me and ask me about my expensive watch or fancy phone and then I run like hell.
Hilary @ Getting Through Life says
I try to always say Hello or at least give ‘the head nod’to people I pass. 🙂
C. says
Despite it being the Midwest, NO one says hello to me while running in Chicago! Though I guess I’m pretty anti-social while blasting my headphones. 🙂
Cassie says
I HAVE to try the TJ’s pumpkin cream cheese.
I always say hi… I hate when people don’t wave or say hi back when I do when running!
Chris says
Mixed results here when trying to say Hi or wave. No biggie – it’s a free country. 😉
Jojo @ RunFastEatLots says
omg someone made the same Mean Girls reference today.
runeatrepeat says
🙂
Nikki @ grab your kicks says
I always smile and say hello. Most runners/walkers are very friendly in my small town!
Kayla says
My friends and I actually greet every person that we pass and have always kept track of who says hello back. It is funny how come areas are friendly and many others are not! My one friend would sometime use his best Irish accent on our morning runs “Top o’ the mornin’ to ya!”
Jody - Fit at 55 says
I see a lot of the same people when I do my outside run & we always say HI! 🙂
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun says
Depends what kind of work out I am doing. At the gym I always tell people hello as much as I can! I try to be kind but if I am doing a hard workout then I just give an acknowledgment smile 🙂
Livi says
I like to be friendly most of the time…but if I’m in the zone I’m not waving to anyone!
Heather @fitncookies says
I soooo hate when walkers can’t say hi back to me as I’m running and huffing and puffing 🙂 I make the effort to at least smile if I am really dying, or say hi if I’m able to 🙂
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
Okay, Okay…I’ll say hi if someone says hi or waves to me first but I wear sunglasses to avoid all eye contact.
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
I avoid people like the plague 🙂
runeatrepeat says
Ha! Score one for honesty 🙂
Aimee - funfitgirl says
when I run on the trails around where I live, EVERYONE says hello or at least gasps at you and mouths the word…or if they’re really hauling on their run, they’ll do the “runner’s nod” – people here are so friendly!
Jackie says
I always smile!
Ashley says
I always wave to other runners when I’m outdoors. Like we have some comradery or something, ha.
K says
Me too. I love that about running.
Hayley in Training says
The most I’ll ever do is wave. And when I say wave, I mean slightly outstretch my fingers from their fist-like grip in the general direction of the people coming towards me. But I ALWAYS wave back if someone waves at me. I don’t think I’ve ever verbally greeted anyone when I run past them.
Though one time I wore my UT hat and someone did the Hook ‘Em hand sign at me as they passed and I just about lost my shit and threw TWO hand signs back at them and just about screamed at them “YOU READY FOR THE GAME??” but they had already passed me so I was yelling at nobody. And I’m not the least bit embarrassed by it.
runeatrepeat says
Ha! Love that story 🙂
Meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles says
I must admit – sometimes I say hello and sometimes I don’t lol. People think I am not friendly when I run but the truth is, I am so in another zone most of the time combined listening to my ipod plus not wearing my glasses that half the time I don’t even realize people see me and I am ignoring them lol.
Angela says
I would like to see how the homemade cream cheese matches up to TJ’s. 🙂
runeatrepeat says
It’s not as good, but what is 🙂
Laura P says
Yes, I have regular people i see all the time on the trails and I always say hi or wave. The ones who don’t say “hi” back, or wave, or smile, bug the crap out of me! Like how hard is it to just smile?! And it’s the same people every single time. Lol
TartanJogger tartanjogger.com says
That cream cheese looks delish! 🙂
Ashley @ Eat Run Live Happy says
I love Zevia! I wish more stores would sell it. I think it will get big soon.
Lindsey says
Zevia, you spelled “unstoppable” wrong :/
SkinnyRunner says
I saw that too and then thought I was dumb for spelling it wrong in my head.
