8 trips to the buffet*

No, seriously.

267 miles driven home.
1 girl who is ready to sleep for a long time.

And a Partridge in a Pear tree.

Cindy needed to be home by 9am this morning for jury duty so we headed out at some ridiculous hour. But, I was HUNGRY. So, a quick Siri search landed us at the Gold Strike Buffet since it’s open 24 hours. Except, no one knows that except Siri and us. So it was empty.
And at first they told us they were about to close to bring in the breakfast stuff so we had 4 minutes to get food. I’m not exaggerating – the lady said 4 minutes. We rushed to get a ton of food before they shut it down. Then, the manager came out and was super nice and said he’d keep it open for us. (After we had already attacked – see above.)
It was the weirdest restaurant situation ever. We were the only ones there until an elderly couple came in and the guy basically took 12 pieces of bread piled high to his table and put them in his wife’s purse. I can’t make this ish up.
The manager came back out and talked to us for a while and Cindy explained that I was eating like a maniac because of the race. Then, he asked if I WON. And I started laughing and couldn’t stop for 8 minutes.
The end.
Question: How much sleep did you get last night?
Non-runner’s response when I tell them I ran a race, ‘did you win?!’. No, I did not win against thousands of others! Congrats on the finish, looks like you had an awesome time!
The only word that can describe this post is… Awesome!!
I’ve learned to answer “YES!” before laughing maniacally when people ask if I won my race.
You are such a boss!!!! Thank you for the never ending motivation 🙂
How in the world!?! Looks like so much fun but I can imagine how exhausted you must be!
That buffet story is HILARIOUS. And worth it for the photos! Also, now I want a cinnabon. Nom.
Double ice cream dessert is the way to go!
I love when I get a new medal and someone asks me where I placed in a race. Dude, I’ve never even finished in the top half of the field let alone the top few! But I guess I did work hard and the medal does look the same so I’ll take it.
We were out last night pretending we’re not in our 30s and we didn’t get home until 1:30. So I was in bed for like 4 hours but didn’t sleep for all of it. 4-5 hours is a good night of sleep for me, I suck at sleeping (which is weird because it’s like my favorite thing in the world to do).
Love this by the numbers post! Last night I got almost 8 hours of pretty bad sleep.
I loved this recap! It was so funny. I would love to run a Las Vegas race, it looks like you had tons of fun! P.S 6 races in 6 weeks, holly you are a machine! I think some RnR in replace of RER for a few days is much deserving!
I LOVE old people — I know I’m going to be that lady who grabs a napkin and stuffs free cookies in my purse. Because I NEVER do that now…
Ugh. I have a newborn baby and a toddler at home, so 4 hours – and that’s in 2 separate chunks. I live vicariously through your fun adventures!
you’re so cute. And I love these photos!! All of that amazing food…ahhhh. I miss Vegas so badly…haven’t been there since 2005!
You’re a freakin’ superstar!
I hope you told him “of course!”
Sounds like a fun weekend! Too bad we didn’t have a chance to meet-up.
I don’t know how you do it. You must never sleep.
I’m so jealous of the cinnabon! I’m also assuming since you didn’t put temperature in your post that you weren’t running in cold weather like this Michigander. Boo to that I need to move lol.
Is this the race you ran for charity? Curious why that wasn’t included in your numbers recap.
WOW all that food looks amazing! I have always wanted to visit Las Vegas. Thanks for sharing.
Is that a rosti in the room service?
I’m definitely not the person to take to a buffet – I can only have 1 main and 1 dessert. No kidding.
what an AWESOME weekend!!
I got 8 hours – but I could have been eating at a buffet, what was I thinking?! ; )
Oh my that is hilarious! Now that’s how I wanna do Vegas! Way to make the most of it…I’m a newbie commenter and I adore your blog. So fun! Now I want a Cinnabon.
Cute post….love all the pictures and what you did…the eating of course! 😉
you should have let him think you won the race… maybe your breakfast would have been on the house 😉
haha, i’ve eaten at the same buffet for breakfast. and ps you look Gorgeous!!
I got an awesome 8 and a half hours sleep. You must be a machine, all these half marathons and fulls! Running 13 miles must just be easy for you these days!
This look so fun!!!!!! And I LOVE that he asked if you won the race. People who don’t run ALWAYS ask that and it always makes me laugh for at least 8 minutes as well 🙂
That buffet looked odd with so many empty tables. And your table full of food! I got a solid 8 hours of sleep before going to an interview this morning.
I got about 7 hours but I still felt exhausted. We spent all day yesterday in the car and I was pretty worn out!
That was a pretty awesome post. I slept 7.5 hours last night. I have to sleep at least 7, but I think 10 is my favorite:-)
Awesome race recap! I wish I slept more. There’s so much to do to get ready for the week. But from the looks of it you deserve a ton of sleep!
Awesome race report.
Love the recap! Sounds like an amazing weekend! So funny about the man with the bread!!
Good times, minus being rushed to eat. 🙂 I want to dunk my head in that roll! Glad you had fun!
I love the numbers recap of your weekend!!!
And – way to get your money’s worth out of that buffet!!
You look fantastic for all that occurred! hahah I got about 8 hours of sleep last night. LOVED it! I’m hoping for the same tonight
You make me want to go back to Vegas! I wish I had your energy- I am dead by 10 PM every night!
I slept 8.5 last night- I was still tired after my half on Saturday! I plan on getting close to that again tonight:) I realllllly like sleep.
Great numbers recap! You are pretty good at the Vegas thing! Not much sleep here, my son likes to wake up 3 times to nurse still – almost 8 months old. Good thing he’s cute.
Ha love this recap. Last night I got a solid 8 hours and woke up feeling like 2million bucks.
You should have told him you won. Maybe breakfast would have been free!
Lol my favorite question after “did you win your race” is “how far is your race? I’m running a 5K marathon”
One of the best things about Las Vegas is the buffets. lol. Wish I was able to run the RnR Las Vegas this year but there is always next year.
I got 8.5 hours…thanks to my hubby not snoring for once! The snoring keeps me up more than the kiddo does!
I didn’t get the best sleep last night — maybe 6 hours? I second Happier Heather’s comment — You look great! I am so inspired by you and SR’s major running feats these last 6 weeks. Well done!
Super fun post! Hahaha 8 buffet trips? That’s awesome. That’s truly one of the ways to enjoy Vegas 😀
I had 6 hours of sleep.
Sleep? Who needs sleep? Okay 7 hrs. It looks like you had a good time. I have not been to a buffet in a long time. And Vegas is the place to do it. How do you do so many races, recover, and still smile?
Every time you post about Vegas, I remind myself I need to go. It looks like you had fun as usual.
Monica, you look so fresh-faced and pretty in that pic with SR! Congrats on your race!
Great stats!
I didn’t think ANYWHERE in Vegas closed- isn’t it a nocturnal city? Your buffet looks worth it, though! 😀
