Hello! Have you signed up for Pile on the Miles yet? Do it! The less you want to, the more motivation you need. It’s science.
This morning I did a tempo run. I had a late night last night (super busted I should know better) plus a very early or late depending on how you see it Del Taco stop.
Anyway. I wasn’t sure who would be showing up to run this morning.
By ‘who’ I mean, me – would I bring it for a hard workout after a rough night?
Surprisingly to me I had a really good run! I had a tempo run with 5 miles at tempo. The first 3 were ‘meh’ but I brought it at the last 2 for sure.
Tempo Run splits: 8:24, 8:24, 8:25, 8:05, 8:04
When I wanted to slow down or quit I just told myself, “Show the hell up!” And somehow that worked.
Pre-run I got some cereal to eat on the way to my running route.
I have some fun stuff to share on the dinner front… I spotted a Veggie Noodle spiralizer thing at Marshal’s last week. Boom.
Tonight I made my first Zoodles aka Zucchini noodles. I topped them with ground turkey, marinara sauce and parmesan cheese.
And for dessert I got some food for the soul and food for my belly in one stop. I went to bible study at SR’s church. Her circle of friends is super nice and welcoming. I really appreciate it and I have a good time and learn a lot.
At some point today I took a break while foam rolling
Next thing I know Vegas is right on top of me trying to steal my oxygen.
He is trying to steal my air or warmth or something.
I also spotted him in the shoe closet. It’s probably supposed to be a coat closet, but you know… SoCal.
Any guesses on why I have those water bottles in there?
Then, I hit up SR’s church for a bible study. It’s about relationships and communication and is really really good. I learned that I might be an avoider when it comes to communication about important issues. I think that is mostly with other people communicating, I need to be a better listener.
God gave us 2 ears and only 1 mouth!
There were delicious gluten free desserts too! Yahhhhh!!!!

i might have to try your “shut up and run” trick. i have been a whinner with myself lately and not getting my goals like is should…i mean i have a race 2 weeks away and am so not prepared. boo. as far as communication does apparently i am a “red” person which means Im direct and dont sugar coat things. meh Im cool with that 🙂

I’ve been married for 24 years. Communicating is still difficult because we don’t speak the same language. I don’t mean literally – we both speak English. I mean he says what he thinks and I have had to learn not to second guess him. No saying, “What is he not saying? If he said, ‘this,’ he must really mean ‘that.'” This has really changed my way of communicating with people to the point where some people are annoyed with me because I’m so abrupt. I now just say what I think and have to keep my mouth SHUT sometimes because my lack of a filter gets me into trouble.

My husband and I both came from families who did not communicate well with each other so we are trying to do our best to be good and honest communicators, and listeners. That being said, he’s way better at it then I am, but I’m working on it. I want to grow in that area, so I’m definitely putting a lot of effort into it!

i am REALLY good at communicating, until I am done with a relationship and want to break up. then…. i shut off and stop talking. it’s weird. otherwise- GREAT communicator. no manipulation, no fuss, just straight forward real talk. I end up doing a lot of I See, I Feel, I Hope/Expect, I Will.
“I saw when we were out with friends that you went off to talk to your people and left me alone. I feel frustrated and left out, and like im not important. I hope that in the future you will include me, and I will be let you know if I am feeling ignored again.” Then it’s more about the action and less about the person, and it isnt attacking or blaming. PLUS it gives a solution!
also i need to sign up for the miles. ugh.

what fancy dessert signs!! I am impressed!
I communicate better via text/writing. I can be kind of confrontational/aggressive in person (I’m a lawyer, and I think I jump right into “legal argument” mode), but if something is really important I communicate better in email or text.

I both love and hate zoodles. I love them because I can get my veggies into my meal no problem. I hate them because sometimes they’re watery and then they dilute the pasta sauce and I realize I’m eating strings of zucchini. I know there are tricks to making them but I have not been enlightened yet! I do want to try them in a chicken noodle soup though.

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 15 years last summer. The biggest key to our success is #1 commitment, #2 communication, and #3 dating. When we were dating, I told him that we had to figure out a way to communicate better and that I would really work at saying what I felt and needed without trying to make him guess and I needed to know where he stood because he wasn’t a huge feelings talker and that this was a make it or break it for me sort of deal and thankfully we figured out a way to make it work. P.S. I have the same Disney Dumbo Double Dare shirt! That was such a fun race!!
