Hello! I’m reporting in on my first two runs of 2016. I think I’m going to use daily mile or some cool running app to track my mileage. I’m bad about keeping track of life stuff (all of it) so that will help me out a lot.
Yesterday I ran 10 miles and this morning I got up early for another 10. My toe is a little sore but surprisingly awesome considering I smashed it two times and broke my heart/toe/reason for living.

Run Report
Run the Year – 20 miles / 2016
Today was a tiny bit cooler here so the run was a little easier. Yesterday it was 85 degrees and super humid.

On today’s run around this sleepy Florida vacation town I saw a bunch of dead fish and a syringe. Random.

And I’m trying to be super good about elevating and icing my toe. The icing part is extremely unpleasant.
So here are some dogs…

Did you eat any Blackeye Peas for new year’s day? I’ve heard these are good luck or something. Plus they taste good!

I did the Run the Edge 2,015 mileage challenge last year solo. I used the Excel spreadsheet they provided to track mileage be uses it broke it down by week and month and showed me my progress. To track my runs separstely, I used the TomTom my sports connect and Training Peaks. This year, I’ve switched to MapmyRun, and I like it so far. Good luck to you in running 2016!
I do it old school and write it down in my EC planner. I would be lost without that thing. My life is all on there!
I’m lazy…so I just rely on Garmin Connect when I charge/download the data from my watch.
Black eyed peas AND collard greens. Brings prosperity and rebuked the devourer….
I have never heard that about blackeye peas, maybe that never made it as far as Ireland… Florida looks amazing. We have just had more and more rain here this past few days. The towpath where I usually run was all flooded today!
I use Daily Mile and Garmin Connect. Daily Mile is great just for keeping track of actual miles but Garmin Connect satisfies the analytical obsession that I suffer from and it also helps me when I’m seriously training.
I can track pace, cadence, heart rate, vo2max, etc. Ah, crap, now I’m craving data, gotta go.
I use MapMyRun. They have challenges and stuff too so you can win prizes.
I love using my Nike+ app. It keep tracks of all my runs, tells me the furthest I’ve run, or fastest miles.
My garmin gets synced with GarminConnect but then it automatically transfers to Runkeeper. So I have it tracked in 2 apps. =)
I need to set it up to transfer to Garmin Connect! I’m the worst.
I have a paper running log that I like, and I also keep track of mileage on Dailymile. It’s a little silly to keep it in two places, but it works for me. 🙂
I’m enjoying our cooler winter temperatures, I don’t even want to think about running in 85 degrees and humidity right now!
Happy New Year. I use the app ismoothrun and it auto transfers my runs to runkeeper/Strava/myfitnesspal/smashrun/and a copy to Dropbox. Check out smashrun.com it’s becoming my new fav.
Garmin to garmin connect
Then get it auto synching the data to Strava
How do people live without Strava!
I don’t get it…is your toe broken or not? If so, the hell you run on it??
Like the earlier commenter, Deb, I use my Garmin to upload my runs to Garmin Connect. Plus, I record the mileage on a wall calendar on my fridge so that I know at a glance how far I’ve run/how often I’ve exercised/if I’ve taken a rest day or few each week.
Strava
I find nike+ to be reasonably accurate and convenient to use for tracking my runs 🙂
Try Strava for tracking mileage. It syncs with Garmin. It is beautiful. And it is free.
I never really tracked them before, but my sister got a planner from her grandmother-in-law, and she doesn’t want it, so I’m going to use it as a tracker! It’s weekly, so I can see the whole week and plan and see when I need to step up my game for the week. Only thing is it’s a Sunday through Saturday week, which is fine, but I’m just used to doing a Monday-Sunday plan. it’ll be good though!
I upload to GarminConnect then the data auto transfers to MapMyRun. So, I have in 2 places. 🙂
How do you make the data from your garmin transfer to map my run?? That’s awesome!
Link your Garmin Connect account in the MapMyRun app settings.
you’re already accomplished 1% of your 2016 milage goal:)
i’m a huge strava fan!
I’ll skip the black eyed peas. Like the band, not the food. I use MapMyRide for cycling and I can use it to walk, run or hike as well. The MapMyFitness apps are all pretty good, but they do use your data. Hope your toe is better soon.
