3 Breakfasts in One Day?!

Hello! I’m traveling again! This is getting ridiculous. Or it’s pretty awesome. Yep, I’m going with awesome.

I woke up super early to get in a good run before sitting on an airplane all day. It was the perfect crisp temps for a run!

Breakfast Part I: When I got back the tamale lady was on the corner near my place. I bought half a dozen – one to eat and the rest to give my dad as payment for taking me to the airport. Winking smile

Breakfast Part II: I made myself a big serving of oats in a jar. This was an almost empty PB jar filled with oatmeal and egg whites.

In the mix: 2 packets of brown sugar oatmeal, 1/3 cup egg whites. Cooked. Then added to the jar.  (I’m not trying to talk to you like you’re not smart, I just want it to be clear I didn’t cook them in the jar because this is plastic and would probably melt.)

I brought a treat for the dogs too! Bones and tamales and donuts oh my!

Breakfast Part III: Actually there were donuts at my parent’s house! So even though I wasn’t hungry I snagged half of one because I couldn’t let National Donut Day pass without at least a bite!

Then, I was off to LAX.

I don’t know if I have mentioned this before since I travel a lot and always share random tidbits as I go… but, I am a very big fan of AirShield. I always have some sort of extra immunity boost in my carry on to drink while at the airport or on the plane. The nice people at CVS sent me a pack of Healthy Summer Essentials and I grabbed this one and dropped it in my bag immediately. Perfect timing!

I think we are extra cautious about illness and immunity and all that jazz around cold and flu season. Then, we get a little lazy about it in the warmer months. Well, I don’t know about you but I do not want to be sick when there’s beautiful weather to enjoy! So no matter the season or length of my travels I try to stay one step ahead of getting sick with an immunity boost, thorough hand washing and enough rest. It’s not foolproof, but it does help me feel better.

I bought an iced coffee, drank it and then refilled the cup and added an Air Shield tab.

I got the flu once just after I had arrived in Crete on holiday. It was not fun shivering under a blanket listening to everyone else having fun in the sun and splashing about in the pool! I’ve never thought about an immunity boosting drink before.

We’re off to Bordeaux wine tasting in July, and then to Japan in September. Two very different holidays, but both should be great fun!

Oooh, and I am going to Amsterdam in two weeks, on a girls’ weekend away.

Yay, so much fun to look forward to 🙂

My big travel plan this summer is a week long trip to the Adirondacks where we have a family home. It is by far my favorite place to go…secluded, and easy to get to. In fact, vacation is a month away. I’m so excited for hiking, boating, and running in the mountains:)

I am going to Whistler in a few weeks to go mountain biking but there is some great trail running there too! P.S. the more breakfast the better.

We are tent camping (at a Yogi Bear, where there running water and electricity at our site) over the 4th of July. Then we are heading to my homeland (aka SD, not San Diego) the beginning of August. You can join us anytime. 🙂

I’m headed to Santa Cruz in August for the Dickens Universe (a week-long academic conference). I’m a new runner, but already I’m having fantasies about getting up early to run on the trail among the redwoods!
