My Life· What Runners Eat

Hello from Florida! I’m hanging out with Ben and his family way over here on the other side of the United States. They have an annual trip to Marco Island, FL that they’ve been doing since Ben was a little kid and for some reason he thinks I’m fun and wanted me to come.

Oh, you want me to come to the beach and eat tons of delicious food and relax in the hot tub?!?! Allllll right, twist my arm Winking smile

marco island florida travel blog tips 2 (800x600) (800x600)

This morning I set my alarm bright and early to get in a run before the heat and humidity set in too much. Luckily it was pretty mild compared to previous years I’ve been here.

I brought some money and hit up 7-11 after 10 very sweaty miles. That’s a huge water and iced coffee! I filled up a big gulp cup of ice and poured coffee over it. (Doctored it up with cream after the picture.)

I got back and did the whole breakfast/shower thing (but not breakfast in the shower because it makes my pancakes soggy).

Then, I headed to the beach with Ben’s sister to search for shells and freckles (those just show up without me even looking).

Sportin’ my new watermelon bikini! I am usually not a fan of string bikinis but I had to make an exception for a watermelon one.

marco island florida travel blog tips 9 (450x800) (450x800)

I got this watermelon bathing suit at Walmart after a reader emailed me about it! Funny enough I saw two little girls at the pool with this exact watermelon rash guard/bathing suit! We’re all friends now and are going to play Frozen later.

This is a high waist watermelon bikini option you can get on Amazon.

I also hit up the store for food at some point and grabbed this Coke Zero. You know that whole “Share a Coke” thing? Well, I never find my name and I never even find a friend’s name. So this is in honor of Serial (Nisha is one of the people interviewed).

Related: I’m done with Serial now and don’t know what to do with my life. Send help. Please.

I also saw my first starfish in the wild! Well, I’ve seen them before but never picked one up. I loved this one up a second and then put her back in the ocean.

And later it was time to really relax with some adult beverage. I wanted to get this Mexican Mudslide drink. It’s like a regular mudslide but with me drinking it.

But I went with some Mojito drink thing that didn’t change my life.

What did you do this weekend? Tell me something good!

Have you started listening to Undisclosed?? It’s a serial-related follow up on the legal aspects! So good; different than Serial but good.

you can listen to Undisclosed now!! its a new podcast about the Serial case.. I really like it, its a little more fact-oriented instead of story-oriented like Serial was, so I don’t know if it will be as popular with the general public… buts its suuuper interesting so far!! lots of new info/theories!

If you loved Serial there are a few podcasts that you should listen to relating to Serial. There is the Slate Serial Spoiler ..they discuss the podcast and people call in comments etc… There is crime writers on Serial… a few crime writers discuss Serial. There is also a newer one called Undisclosed I think with Rabia but I haven’t listened to that yet.
Just in case you are as obsessed as I am….

Wait I was so obsessed with Serial and then found Undisclosed Podcast. It’s Rabia Chaudray’s telling of events, she is a close family friend of Adnan as mentioned in Serial but she hires 2 lawyers to dig deeper. It is 1000000x more mind blowing and addicting then Serial, if possible. Go catch up now!

Wait, is that amazon watermelon bathing suit a joke? Am I the only one that sees her boob practically falling out? Who could’ve possibly believed that this is a flattering photo of the suit?

I love that you said before it gets to hot and humid…I run here in Florida daily at 4:30am and it is ridiculously hot and humid! Maybe because I am about an hour from the beach? Enjoy your trip! Nothing overly fun here–just a bit of running, eating and drinking!

Just so you know, Rabia did an extension of Serial, it’s called Undisclosed. Not nearly as good, but interesting if you want some more details on the case from a different perspective!

I went to France to drink all the wine and eat all the cheese. Mission accomplished! I also ran in the forest (very lost) and went to some markets (now very poor).

Today I return to my desk about 7lbs heavier and very sad that the weekend is over.

I love the bikini! I am more of a high-waisted bikini gal. I was even thinking of going with a one piece this summer.

I did absolutely nothing this weekend. I have taken a week off from running to recover from the San Diego Rock n Roll Marathon. Tomorrow begins my first ultra marathon training!

Put in three good runs this weekend. Two treadmill runs where I didn’t get angry that I was on a treadmill, success. Hung out with my boyfriend and ate cheese at cheese fest (Wisconsin thing) and tried out a new restaurant for Sunday brunch. Bomb.Com. I also bought a pair of HokaOneOne Cliftons in purple! Stoked.

I love that you always find a balance – it’s okay to have an iced coffee , and enjoy an ‘adult beverage’ for an end to the day !

Its actually really cold here in New Zealand so we are looking forward to the long Summer days !

I listened to Criminal after I finished Cereal (Serial ;)) to fill the void. It was okay and interesting, but more like a really crappy non waterproof bandaid rather than a fix. I heard they’re making a second Serial, though!!

Did you hear about Undisclosed? It’s a podcast about the same case as Serial but is narrated by attorneys. Fascinating! They follow up on many things from Serial. I have also just found a new podcast called Serially Obsessed that also follows the episodes, but haven’t listened to it yet.
