30 Second Top Knot Tutorial

Hello! I recently got my hair trimmed and the stylist gave me shorter layers. Now when I do my messy top knot and take my hair down it leaves a little it of beachy waves. Boom. That is awesome because my hair is normally super straight.

Anyway. I mentioned it on twitter and some of you asked about how I do my top knot. Here’s the super quick and easy tutorial.

How to do a Top Knot:

1. Pull your hair up like you are about to do a pony tail. Put your rubberband around the base.

2. Pull the hair halfway through, but instead of pulling it all the way grab the hair and get it all in the rubberband.

Then, make it messy and boom.

Done.

Tip: Spray some Sea Salt Spray on your hair before putting it up for a few hours. Then, take it down and come hang out at the beach with me. The End.

Question: How is your hair today?

Mine: Orange and greasy.

THIS IS YOUR YEAR.

I have semi natural curly – read like if I don’t either straighten it or blow dry it with more curls it appears to be a frizzy mess. What I have been doing lately is washing it at night, letting it dry most of the way and then french braiding it. In the morning, take out the braid, give it time to relax a bit and tada…cute curls!

I think I came out of the womb with a 15 second top knot 🙂

I wish I could do my hair like this! Last October I chopped it all off and now it’s slowly growing back. It’s almost touching my shoulders now. Soon I’ll have long hair again!

Right now it’s just pulled off my face with a headband. Basically how I wear it every day, since I still have “bangs” so I can’t rock a pony tail, and it looks weird when it’s just down.

I put mine up in a top knot when it’s still wet and it looks like a crazy curly mess when I take it down to shower again. It’s pretty fantastic.

I’m going to the hairdresser in my lunch hour, so my hair is just tied back in a ponytail. I cycle to work, so always suffer from helmet hair. At least today I’ll look good for the afternoon (until I cycle home….).

I have been considering trying salt spray. Hmmm, maybe I will give this a go….

My hair is always in a 30 second top knot. I just don’t have time or patience for my hair. 🙂

I wish I wish. I have naturally curly fine hair that knots like crazy. My hair tends to be hopeless most days but when the stars align and the humidity is down and it looks good I get super happy and joyous 🙂

I love your hair btw 🙂
