I ALWAYS Run With This and You Can Win One Today!

Hello! I’m still running (and eating) around Marco Island Florida. The weather has been mild compared to past trips out here (read: not 99 degrees and 88% humidity). But today it was back up a bit and I was drowning in my sweat. For real. Luckily I spotted a few things on my and it made me happy and distracted from the drowning situation.

First, I was just running along and found a mango on the sidewalk! How random?!?!

weirdest thing i found on my run (800x600)

I picked it up to see if it was rotten or if someone dropped it on the way home from the store or what…

mango found on my run (600x800)

Then, I realized there was a full on mango tree right there! Ha!! And it was completely covered in mangoes ready to be picked.

I decided since it was someone’s tree / I still had a few miles to go and didn’t want to hold a mango the whole time / it wasn’t ripe and I actually made an epic fruit salad with tons of mango and watermelon yesterday… I put it out of the way near the tree.

Then, I saw a beautiful rainbow!!!

And when I got back I saw an even more beautiful sight… DONUTS.

donut time all the time (600x800)

What is up with me being surrounded by donuts lately?! They are everywhere. Send help.

The Best Piece of Running Gear Giveaway

Now let’s talk about something I ALWAYS run with… my SpiBelt.

Every so often I’ll leave my gps watch at home or switch up my running gear but I always run with a SpiBelt.

Q: Why do you always run with a SpiBelt Monican?

A: Because it holds my phone and sometimes a few dollars so I can buy a smoothie or iced coffee.

And I can’t run without my phone because I might need to call for a ride home or instagram something or be about to be eaten by a wild animal and tweet the world good bye.

spibelt review and giveaway blog 4 (800x600)

SpiBelts look small, but stretch pretty big so you can fit a lot in there. For marathons I put my phone, car key and 2 gus inside no problem.

la marathon results running blog 26 (350x467)

The big question everyone is going to ask… Does it bounce?

No! It moves a tiny bit with your body, but doesn’t really bounce much.

The key is to center it on your body and tighten the straps. If it bounces I just tighten it and it’s fine. I also used to wear it on top of my shorts/under my shirt but have realized that is works best on me on top of my shirt.

Tip: Figure out where it fits YOUR BODY best. Move it up or down and tighten it until you forget you’re even wearing it.

(That’s a SpiBelt in my hand in the picture below. From the Buzz half marathon Feb before last!)

new running pose half marathon (376x502) (376x502)

Everyone’s body is different and I have a kinda long torso and wide hips/small waist so I’ve had to mess with it a bit. Now I am totally used to it.

And because the nice people at SpiBelt know I’m such a big fan they are giving me TWO SpiBelts to give to RER Readers.

Enter to win a SpiBelt by leaving a comment on this post.

Question: Did you workout today? Yes or No.

Contest open to anyone who lives on Earth. Closes June 11th at 5pm PST.

I just started reading your blog and discovered we were running around Marco Island the same week! I think I spotted the same mango tree–was it near Tigertail Beach?

I’ve been thinking I need some sort of belt to hold my things. I typically drive to a park to run, and I usually have to tie my car key to my shoe, and I’m always worried my car is going to be towed when I get back…along with my phone…and money…and ID. (And you know, what happens if I pass out of heat exhaustion–Florida runner here–and no one can identify my body because I have no ID on me??) So yeah, a SpiBelt would probably be a good idea.

I am taking an Algebra summer crash course (4 weeks) and it is taking soooo much of my time. But once it’s over I will be FREE (except for work/life) to enjoy the summer, workout at lunch(again) and take evening runs (once there’s shade – otherwise I will melt!)

I have seen Spibelts at some expos (well, most of them lately!) and have been curious how they feel. I usually just load up my handheld and my back pocket during marathons, but sometimes it is super-annoying. I suppose it couldn’t hurt to try something different! Enjoy FL and don’t drown

I’ve been wanting to try the Spibelt for a long time! I think being able to carry everything in one spot and free up my hands would make me feel safer when running outside alone. Good to know it doesn’t bounce – that would drive me crazy.

I had a spibelt, and it bounced all over the place 🙁 I got rid of it in favor of a flipbelt, which I LOVE.

Just got done with a speed workout with the best running friends! Looks like you had an amazing run this morning. I would have totally tucked that mango in my sports bra and taken it home. I am a sucker for ripe mangos.

I did! I was bored with my usual stuff, so I did a 5 min warm up on the bike, alternated 20 step-ups with 10 weighted squats 3x, 10 min on elliptical, then alternated 20 sit ups, 10 leg lifts, 30 second plank 3x, and a mile on the treadmill to finish. No boredom here!

Planning to run after work… It’s supposed to be 90 though, so may downgrade to a walk… Love, love, love spibelts! I never run without one. Whenever I do a race I make sure to go up to the spibelt booth and tell them how much I love them. 🙂

Would love a spibelt to try out. Have been considering one for ages, but just haven’t done anything about it.
