I made the mistake of eating mostly carbs for the whole day ๐ By 6pm I was super hungry and crabby. Too many carbs make me crabby because my blood sugar just keeps going up and down all day and Iโm never satisfied.
My choices were healthy, but they were balanced โ and thatโs where I went wrong.
Breakfast โ Kashi Go Lean, whole grain flakes, a handful of Shredded Wheat and Almond Milk.
I put blueberries on top for color, but I actually donโt like any fruit except banana on my cereal. #random
This morning my carpool buddy, Ben and I were running late this morning so he dropped me off at work first. But, he works later than I do so we had to switch at lunch.
When he came to pick me he suggested we get drinks from Sonic to go with lunch. I swear it was all him, but far be it for I to deny someone the joys of Sonic Limeades so I happily agreed.
He also ordered Onion Rings and I had two ๐ Good stuff. The rest of my lunch was carb overload as I mentioned beforeโฆ
Then, I shuttled him back to work and went back to work myself. My afternoon snacks were carbtastic โ watermelon and an apple. They did nothing for my hunger so I called Ben and kindly asked to go to my favorite restaurant for dinner –
Whole Foods!
Nothing like a $20.00 salad eaten out of a cardboard box to put a cherry on top of a stressful day, right?
I always get a big container from the salad barโฆ
and a small container from the hot foods.
Then, I came home to a bunch of junk my mom got on her last day of school. No.Comment.
Thank you all so much for your comments on my last post. Love you guys. Every.single.one.of.you ๐
Given my strong desire to both lose weight and be an Intuitive Eater Iโve decided to meet with my I.E. therapist again. Iโll run through specifics on Wednesday when I have my appointment. Please feel free to send questions.
I am days and days behind my Inbox, but will be getting back to everyone tomorrow.
See ya later!

I didn’t know too many carbs can cause that. Good to know. I should check and see if that’s my problem because I feel like my moods change hourly some days!

I love on conscious you are of your choices and how they affect you. If that’s the Sonic on Fairview/MacArthur I live right behind it. Good luck keeping up with the hectic schedule.
Melissa @ Tryingtoheal says
no fruit in your cereal? how do you live? haha, j/k.
and i’m so grateful for your honesty about these episodes we have. it helps me when i have them to know i’m not alone, but never would wish this stuff on my worst enemy!!

Good luck with your appointment! I’m looking forward to reading what your therapist has to say, and I know I’m not the only one who’s hoping to learn something valuable for themselves from it ๐
With regards to what Allison said about trigger foods, personally speaking I know that having those foods in the house is a bad idea and only adds to any anxiety that I’m feeling.
What I’d like to ask is what the first steps to Intuitive Eating are – it’s something that I know I need to embrace, but I’m just not sure how to go about breaking old habits because they’re so deeply engrained.
Also, it would be really interesting to see if your therapist has any advice to offer about phrases or actions that could help act as a kind of ‘circuit breaker’ for when you feel a bout of emotional eating or bingeing come on.
Hope it goes well! Your WF meal looks delicious ๐

I would be interested to hear what she has to say about having trigger foods in the house. The Geneen Roth school of thought is to have tons of them, but isn’t life just easier if you just keep them out of the house? You don’t tell alcholics to stockpile beer in their houses until they learn to live with it, right?
Your honesty is refreshing. I am sure way more people out there have the same issues but don’t share them. I certainly know I do. I love carbs, especially bread, but they are not my friend!

I hate fruit on my cereal too … with the exception of bananas! It’s strange, I love fruit, but I like it by itself, I don’t like it in or on anything – not even in pie!
I’ve been MIA from the blog world this week, but I just caught up on your last few posts and wanted to say that I think they’re really great. I can tell you’re struggling, but it’s also obvious that you’re not hiding from the issues you’re facing. As someone with a past of disordered eating, I know it only snowballs when you pretend everything is fine. Don’t be embarrassed – we all deal with food issues in some form or another. You’re smart to recongnize when (and where!) you’ve gone awry. Good luck at your appt – I’m looking forward to hearing what she has to say. ๐

Funny how you always seem to stay hungry all day when you overload on carbs. This happens to me and then my body CRAVES protein the next day. I believe our bodies do a pretty good job and balancing themselves out.
Have a great Friday!!
