Jillian Michaels 6 Week Six Pack Try

Breakfast

6 Jan

Hello and thank you all for your kind words on my belly parasite (aka Ben Jr.). This morning I tried to squeeze the bugger out with a ton of ab work courtesy of Jillian’s 6 Week Six Pack.

This came in the mail yesterday and I was psyched to rip into it! Today is supposed to be a strength training day (per BFL) so this will count as my strength workout as I can’t get to the gym. I’m still watching Matt and he’s too old to go to the kiddie care, but too young to leave by himself for that long.

I only did the DVD once, so I can’t give a full review. But my initial thoughts are:

  • Love it, I need a change from my very old school 8 min abs.
  • This is HARD. TWSS.
  • It moved too fast for me to keep up the first time, so I had to spend some time watching before I could try the exercises. I don’t know if it’s my old cheerleading days or what, but I am BIG ON FORM. She doesn’t breakdown the moves very much, but you are supposed to follow her (and her backup exercisers’) lead.
  • I think it will take 1 or 2 more tries before I actually do the whole workout with her. At that point I can assess the true difficulty and potential results.

She suggests that you do Level 1 – five times a week for three weeks and then move to Level 2. Since I just took pics and all I’m considering taking her 6 Week Six Pack Challenge! I would like to see if I really get results before I suggest that anyone else spend 38 minutes a day letting Jillian Michaels yell at them Winking smile

This DVD isn’t the equivalent of a BFL strength day(I realize I am slacking today), so we’ll see how I can work it in . Stay tuned.

Breakfast was an oldie, but goodie – waffles and eggs.

These are 2 whole wheat waffles with 1/2 cup of eggbeaters topped with syrup and ketchup. Plus some blackberries on the side because I love the way they pop in your mouth.

Question: Did you parents ever leave you at kiddie care at the gym? Did they exercise?

I have a faint memory of going to the gym with my mom. I did not like their day care at all. Luckily, we didn’t go that often. Sorry mom.

I never went to the kid’s club at the gym with my mom (mainly because she didn’t go to a gym!) but I now work at one 🙂 I think it’s a good idea, but you wouldn’t believe some of the parents that come in there. There are people that will drop their kids off and LEAVE THE GYM to get something to eat rather than work out! They’re supposed to stay in the gym the whole time in case something happens to their kids. Horrible!

I can’t wait to try the Six Pack Abs DVD. I’m going to try it out tomorrow and I’m confident enough with your mini review that I will probably like it. I love the 30 day shred.

Gosh I remember going to the kiddie care at 24HR fitness years ago with my mom. I was probably in the kiddie care till I was able 11 years old. I hated it. I was the only big kid in there and the rest were babies. Luckily I was able to stay home since parents work schedule change and I was able to stay home with an adult. Phew!

I’ve been hearing good things about Jillian’s 6 Weeks 6 Pack Abs video. Maybe I’ll pick up a copy one of these days!

When we were really little my mom had a Nordic track in my basement and my little brother and I would play downstairs when she worked out. Then my mom started going to the gym before work (…at 4:45 in the morning, she’s a nut) and my dad would go after he worked so we’d always at least have someone home.

Hmm maybe I’ll make waffles for dinner. Looks good.

I used to hate going to the creche while my mum went to aerobics classes – I wanted to do aerobics and not play in the creche!

I remeber when I was a kid going with my mom to our schools auditorium and a bunch of women doing Richard Simmons videos, while we ran around! Oh the good old days!

I just impulsively bought the Jillian Michale’s DVD 10 minutes ago at Walmart. It was on sale for 9 bucks! How could I turn it down! I am excited to see your results, as I am for myself! Good luck!

my mom didn’t work out at a gym, but she took dance classes at her school when she went back to get her associates degree. she used to bring my sister and i with her and we’d sit against the wall in the back of the room and watch her do her thang. i remember nylons, leotards, and some kind of high heel dance shoes. this was in the late ’80’s/early ’90’s so dont’ get the impression that she was taking stripping dancing classes! haha. i think i’m going to go call her and remind her of those good old days! 🙂

I the JM 6 week six-pack DVD! I just don’t know if I could commit 5 days a week to it! For now, I’m going to do it whenever I have time.

My parents always took us to the YMCA and we would all play basketball/volleyball in the gym! I don’t think I ever went to the childcare.

Oh yes, I remember the kiddie room a the gym! My mom was a SAHM at the time so we went at odd hours and frequently I was the only kid there – which was okay because I was super shy anyways.

Of course my mom never stuck with the gym for long, so it was only a matter of weeks before I was back on my swing set in the backyard while she watched One Life to Live.

I have faint memories of my mom doing sit ups during bed time when I was really little. She spend a good chunk of time raising five kids on her own, though, so that was exercise enough. Our town didn’t even get a gym until I was in high school. hahahah.

Now she has a personal trainer who comes to her house twice a week. When she comes to visit I’ll usually take her to the gym with me. She can hold a plank about twice as long as I can. It’s crazy!

I used to sit in the back of my mom’s aerobics classes and drink all her water while she was working out. 🙂

Oh and I love the way blackberries just pop in your mouth- which is why I usually end up eating a whole clamshell of them in one sitting. Woops.

Ha! Sorry, I was picturing my parents actually taking my advice to exercise and not eat pure chemical junk… Nope, they definitely didn’t go to a gym.

Probably one of the reasons I ended up obese in the first place. Thankfully I have made it to “overweight” and if I just lose a few more pounds the BMI will tell me I’m “normal.” While I’m not that concerned with the scale, I’d love it if one aspect of me was considered “normal.” lol

      Hope you’re feeling better!

I’ve done level one of this workout a few times (thanks, Exercise TV!). It’s pretty challenging! I like it, though. I really feel like I’m working my abs well. And I like that it’s one long circuit and then you repeat the whole thing rather than a short circuit that you repeat right away. Keeps me from getting bored right away!

My parents never went to the gym. I don’t think my mom even knows what a gym is. My dad does run and has run 7 miles a day for probably 30 plus years.

I never went to gym kiddie care with my mom, but I remember her exercising to Jane Fonda records. Yes, records. Does that make me sound really old? She also used to do exercise programs on tv, like Denise Austin and Gilad. Ha!

I joined a gym (Family YMCA) when my daughter was 3 and I brought her nearly every day. They had a wonderful kids area and she loved going. When I moved to Virginia, I joined a Golds Gym, which I love, but the kids area leaves a bit to be desired. Thankfully, since Caroline is in school, she only has to come in the summer, so it’s okay.

I remember going to my mom’s step class and watching and I remember thinking “how boring!” lol.

Does that DVD have the “turn Jillian Michael’s incredibly annoying voice off” option? I can’t do her DVDs too often just because her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. *Shudder*
