Do Donuts Right

After walking the dogs at my mom’s yesterday I decided to surprise her at work. I even brought a treat – light coffee frap for her, iced tea for me.IMG_9888 (800x600)

When I ordered the frap light the guy asked if I wanted whipped cream. I told him that defeats the purpose and he said people order fraps light with extra whipped cream and extra caramel all the time. He goes, “I figure, whatever helps you sleep at night…”

When my mom got off work we hit up Costco because that’s our favorite thing Smile Luckily we went to another location so no one realized I just was there yesterday.

Cheese tortellini sampleIMG_9894 (800x600)

CINNAMON TOAST CRUNCH will you marry me?IMG_9896 (800x600)

And I finally got to try the Popchips Sweet Potato flavor! I’ve been eyeing these for weeks, but was hesitant to buy a big bag without trying them. They’re good! (But I still didn’t buy a bag just yet.)IMG_9898 (800x600)

When I got home Ben gave me a present!

He brought me a Diet Dr. Pepper and leftover black beans from a work lunch. I was super excited about these gifts!!! Wouldn’t you be?!IMG_9905 (800x600)

I made a pizza omelet for dinner. It’s a regular omelet stuffed with marinara sauce and green onions topped with cheese. IMG_9909 (800x533)

This morning I was headed out the door for a long run and my Garmin beeped the “Battery Low” screen. MotherF. This is BS because I had just charged it. It’s probably on it’s last running legs.

Anyways, I ran 12 miles and walked 2 I think? I don’t know and I don’t care.

A big part of running is mental and my mental state hasn’t been the best these last few weeks. I’ve had enough time to be in a funk and now it’s time to fight it away. I’m going to bust out my calendar and see how long I have until my next race. Plus – I have the opportunity to run an addition race in June for frizey. I’m in!IMG_9915 (800x600) (800x600)

After my run I did my usual Saturday post-LR ritual and hit up Whole Foods. Detox juice to flush out all the toxins I stirred up while running Winking smileIMG_9923 (600x800) (600x800)

I 100% blame Janae, but I’ve been craving a donut for days!

I spotted a Baked Chocolate Cake donut in the Whole Foods bakery case and decided to try it. Eh. I ate half on the way home and it wasn’t “hitting the spot” if you will. baked donut ingredientsbaked donut

So, I stopped at a “real” donut place and got a real (fried) one. IMG_9925 (800x600) (800x600)

I was embarrassed to tell Ben I bought TWO DONUTS, but he said, “Do it right or do it twice!”

Amen.

I love making healthier options of foods I eat all the time – like pizza. But sometimes a healthy choice isn’t going to cut it.

Now I’m watching cycling and talking to you fine people. IMG_9927 (600x800) (600x800)Plans for the remainder of the day include being productive for at least 2 solid hours. Then, rest and relaxation.

Have a good one!

The same thing recently happened to me with my Garmin 305. It wouldn’t hold a charge, and I thought it was dead forever. But my husband cleaned the little charging probes with alcohol, and it worked again! Apparently all the sweaty grime needs to be cleaned out more than once every 5 years… who knew?!

Ha! Yes, Ben has done that with mine too. Apparently only husbands can clean Garmins 🙂

I love the idea of a pizza omelet! I’ll definitely have to try that!
Zeppoles are my favorite type of donut…go big or go home, right? 😉

Oh my gosh- you have to try them! They’re an Italian thing, so if there is an Italian bakery near your house check ’em out ASAP. I googled a pic, and here’s what I found:

That’s definitely sounds like a case of “just eat the real thing” I’d much rather eat a great tasting doughnut than some cheap imitation.

Yes, a blog I can relate to! I have been a lurker for a while. Love your blog! Just wanted to come on and say I relate so much more to bloggers who work in real treats. I just can’t eat nutrient dense, no sugar, etc ALL the TIME. I love food and every now and then (and well sometimes too often) I need the REAL thing when it comes to treats. My weakness is chocolate chip cookies or probably just about anything with chocolate.

The other day my totally charged Garmin flashed “approaching turn” in the middle of a workout. What does that mean? Have you ever got that message? It was a totally normal workout…

I also blame Janae for my doughnut craving. I was seriously considering stopping by a shop during my run, but I thought running while holding a doughnut bag would be kind of weird.

Sometimes you just have to treat yourself. My weakness is anything chocolate, especially cookies. I LOVE some double chocolate chunk cookies with skim milk. Yummm.

      Cute poochies!

You did really good on the food choices today Monica. Hey, everyone needs a sweet-treat. I had 2 slices of lemon pound cake … yum. Just enjoy!

We do not like Popchips. Too salty.

With every visit ….. Whole Foods takes all my money. Yesterday I spent over 100 bucks. Those few “deluxe” items will last until midnight. Then off to a regular (Food4Less!) grocery store.

      Have a nice weekend.

P.S. Fresh maple donuts are my fav!
