Hello!

It’s Monday and I thought you might need some workout motivation. Whether or not this is actually inspirational is up for debate but it does make me wanna run (or hang out with my best friend)…

Music Monday – County Music for Running

I am not a country girl, but I discovered country music last year through a client and started to really like it! Normally my running playlist is all Pitbull and Lady Gaga but I am falling running in love with a few country songs as of late…

The good thing about Country Songs versus bootybootybooty songs is the words are like stories or love letters so it gives your brain more to think about when you’re working out…

I definitely love some Rhianna, Calvin Harris, and Flo in my playlists, however you HAVE to have some country to spice things up on those long runs. My favs:
      International Harvester – Craig Morgan
5150 or What Was I Thinkin’ – Dierks Bentley
Country Girl Shake It for Me – Luke Bryan
      She’s a Hottie – Toby Keith

Love me some country music! Love anything by Luke Bryan and Gary Allan, but my favorite is the Eli Young Band, particularly their older stuff. I am digging a couple of their current songs: Even if it Breaks Your Heart and Life at Best.

It’s not new, but I love “Barton Hollow” by the Civil Wars. Also “Tornado” by Little Big Town, anything Gary Allan, and I agree with the person that said Sugarland.

The band playing with Miley is good…sorry, she just is no Dolly Parton. Miley’s is the version – Dolly’s is the real deal. Even the White Stripes version of Jolene is more interesting. I’m not generally a huge country music fan, however my favorite band is The Avett Brothers and their music is considered Americana so go figure.

Anything by Luke Bryan or Jason Aldean. Right now, my favorite song is Wagon Wheel by Darius Rucker

Ahhh, country music. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it. I lived in Nashville for a little bit for school. I heard tons of country music there! It was pretty fun to see the singers out and about. I saw Little Big Town at the Children’s Hospital singing for the sick kiddos one day. So sweet!

LOVE country music! I especially like to run to Miranda Lambert and Pistol Annie’s, they have great get-angry-get-even songs that keep your legs pumpin!
I love Jolene! Have you heard the Dolly Parton version…thumbs up!

I recently started to really get into country music too. I haven’t put any on my running playlists but you make a good point about how they have more to think about! I’m really loving the new Rihanna song, Stay. Definitely not something you’d run to because its so slow, but I’m enjoying it (that is until it gets play to death by the radio and I can no longer stand it, I give it about a week).

I got into country music in college and I love it. My current faves right now, especially for my runs are Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean’s “My Kinda Party.” But, I’m from Miami, so booty music definitely gets mixed in there too!

I’m more of a classic rock girl, but I saw a Kenny Chesney concert on the beach and I was in hooked! When it’s cold and snowy and I’m missing a beach run, I crank Kenny up and run to my happy place!

I have had a long term love affair with garth brooks since I was a tot. Sometime in the last 10 weeks of training I put on “top country” on pandora and haven’t stopped listening since. I’m obsessed with too many songs to list. It really is great running music, miranda lambert and carey underwood (apologies if that should be a k not a c) really make me happy when I’m running along.

I love country music. And since I’m really more of a walker then a runner, I do have a lot of country music on my iPod.
And like you said, country music are stories that most people can relate to.
One of my favorites is Billy Currlington’s song “Must Be Doin’ Something Right” here’s part of it:
      Must be doin’ something right
      I just heard you sigh
      You leaned into my kiss
And closed those deep blue need you eyes
      Don’t know what I did
To earn a love like this, but baby, I
      Must be doin’ something right”

I’m a country music girl but the only “country” song on my running playlist is “It Happens” by Sugarland. Two new songs that I really like are “Troublemaker” by Olly Murs ft Flo Rida and the new Fall Out Boys song “My Songs…(Light Em Up)”

hahah bootybootybooty songs! I love it! That’s the kind of workout music I listen to when I need a push, but never knew exactly how to explain it. Thank you! I am loving the Zac Brown Band lately and Train. Oddly enough my favorite song this week is Jolene by Zac Brown. 🙂

I like the “think like there is no box” quote. Country music, sometimes. I thought I would run into more of it since we moved to Houston, but living in a big city makes me forget we’re in the south most of the time.
