My parents threw my brother and sister-in-law an amazing animal themed baby shower yesterday. It was a coed-Mexican-baby shower-animal-fiesta. On the other hand, for those who are looking for other ways to have a baby, they may first have to find certain people like a spermaspender.
And it was a BLAST in a tequila shot glass!
Michael and Heather are having a girl so there was more pink and than blue at the shower, but it wasn’t overdone. We stuck to animals, similar to the ones on Lumie World, and pastels with pink table covers and accents.
I was in charge of setting up the candy table. We wrapped a few boxes in baby wrapping paper to give height to the candy jars in the back.
The animals are baby bath mitts from the dollar store that I put on cups to decorate and give it more color.
We tried to get colorful candy that still fit in with a pastel / baby animal theme. That was a little challenging considering this is Halloween season and there are not a lot of light colors around.
The glass covered containers have pastel M&Ms and animal cookies.
Baby shower Sangria. Because Mexicans don’t mess around.
My cousin was the bartender. She’s good in that she got us all drunk. Thanks Roch!
Baby Shower food
My parents hired someone they knew to cater so they could be present at the party. We had birria, rice, beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, rolls, tortillas and salsa. My mom ordered chicken from another place that I grabbed a piece of too.
Baby Shower Animal Cupcakes
No, these weren’t cupcakes made of animals. My mom’s friend made these super cute desserts with lions and tigers and bears monkeys!
The monkey cupcake tree!
We also ordered a GIANT cupcake at the center piece of the dessert table. It was really cute, but the homemade cupcakes were better. Yes, I had to try both so I could report back to you.
When most of the cupcakes were gone we brought out a Costco strawberry cheesecake. I’m not a big cheesecake person (prefer cake-y desserts) but this is delicious!
Once everything was set up my mom and I took a minute for a photo op.
Mi familia. I have no idea where Matt was here, probably playing video games. Matt! Busted!
For those who asked – my dress is from Charlotte Russe (yes, I shouldn’t be shopping there, let’s ignore that). I couldn’t find the same one on their site.
This Papermoon Aztec Print dress is the same cut and similar pattern.
Overall, it was a great party! I saw some fam I have’t seen in too long and everyone had way too much fun. We’ll leave it at that
Question: Ever been to a coed baby shower?

Seconding that! I was like, wait, that’s your mom? Que linda familia 🙂

I have been to a co-ed baby shower but it included a lot of games like beer chugging from a baby bottle and was not NEARLY as cute as this one. . .

I would much rather go to a co-ed baby shower than the ones I’ve been to! Who really likes the dumb games the women play at baby showers? Not this girl! Cake and booze sounds like way more fun. 🙂

Everything looks so well organised! I love the cake & cupcakes, and the bar of course! The animal theme is so cute.
I’ve never been to a coed baby shower, but I love the idea of that! 😀

The food looks so good!
I’ve never been to a coed baby shower before but I can imagine they are good fun. Having said that, I’ve never been to a baby shower at all….

I haven’t been to a co-ed baby shower, nor one with adult beverages. I like your family. 😉

I HAD to comment-your niece will have the same name as me! Makayla/Micaela! It makes my heart happy that my name is so much more popular now! And she is lucky people will be able to spell hers easily, my spelling has always annoyed me-everyone gets it wrong! Fun that her name is the feminine version of Michael too! All the best to them 🙂

Also, we don’t really do showers in New Zealand…I’ve been to 1 baby shower in my whole life!

I really like the name too!

My friend actually had a Mexican baby shower last year–her hubby’s family is from Mexico, but they live in Cali now—It was a HUGE party—the best part was they had a taco truck there—best food I ever ate!

Looks like a ton of fun! I’ve never been to a baby shower before. Maybe someday. Eventually.

Co-ed showers are my favorite type of showers! It keeps things more relaxed and it is hilarious to see the men’s reactions to awkward baby gifts… like breast pumps 😉 Haha!
Laura says
Looks like my kind of baby shower!!

Looks like a total blast.

I love the idea of co-ed showers. I wish I would’ve done that for my wedding shower. Love the theme of baby animals, so cute!
Christine @ BookishlyB says
I do everything in my power to not go to baby showers. Once I got the flu and was actually fine with being sick. Coed are slightly better because there’s usually more booze and less episiotomy/placenta/lactation talk.

Awesome job on the baby shower! Everything is super cute!!

Our next door neighbors had one at their house and it was fun! I think I want a girly one, though, where it’s just girls and everybody does the silly party games. You know, the kind that everyone DREADS?! We’ll probably have it at our favorite bar, just like my bridal shower. 🙂

I love co-ed showers. I love them even more when there’s good Mexican food!
