Hey! I’m currently chomping on carrots trying to keep myself from snacking before dinner. It’s this new thing I’m trying this month called, “actually be hungry for dinner”. Crazy concept, we’ll see how it goes!
This morning I ran 8 miles – they were not easy at all for some reason. It probably didn’t help that the local high school track team flew by me and I felt like I was basically walking.
Then, I was craving a smoothie situation…
With toast for a ‘complete, balanced breakfast’ like in the Frosted Flakes commercials.
Then, I got a surprise text from Janae aka HungryRunnerGirl. She was in town for a few hours and wanted to meet up for some fun. We debated getting matching running tattoos, taking a walk, going to the movies… and finally settled on meeting for lunch.
(This is a random picture from the last time we hung out 50 years ago.)
Wahoo’s Fish Taco Salads won out!
Janae likes to lightly whisper to her food before eating it, that’s what she was doing here I think. I’m not here to judge, so I just went with it.
If you’re not familiar with HRG – she is SUPER fast and her next goal is a SUB-3 Hour Marathon! Seriously. I can’t even…
Running Stuff
In other news… I’ve been reading a bunch of interesting stuff on running and eating and sleeping. Sharing these in case you are tired of being productive today too…
Reader Elaine shared that Girls on the Run SD is having a virtual race as a fundraiser and the medal for the 5k and 10k has a WATERMELON on it!
4 ways to prevent overtraining via Competitor.
What elites drink during runs via Runner’s World.
Question: Who did you have lunch with today?
theresa says
Love your website, RER! I am also a newbie to HRG and she is equally fantastic!
Ashley S. says
Had lunch with my computer today… and it kept bringing up work stuff. *ugh*
Deborah Brooks @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
Always fun to meet up with other running bloggers!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
FISH TACO SALADS?! I die…that sounds amazing!
Amy @ Dusty's Sister says
Very jealous that you got to have lunch with HRG! Super cool! Well, and jealous that she got to have lunch with you 🙂
Today I will be eating lunch solo! My husband and I both work from home and usually eat lunch together, but he is travelling today, so I’m on my own. It’s sad, but it means I get to watch Sex and the City while I eat. Could be worse.
Sheena says
Awwww, RER and HRG in one post – LOVE!
Runwright says
I would consider moving if HRG would spontaneously drop in for lunch. I read her blog and think she’s an awesome runner. I imagine that if I hung out with her even for a non-running activity, that I would instantly shave a minute or two off my current pace.
Don’t I know it about those high school runners who run past you while you’re chugging out your miles. I think they do it on purpose. Must be part of their training plan – pass all the women over 25.
The Silent Assassin says
Haha! Definitely not with anyone uber famous!
Polly @ Tasty Food Project says
I usually eat lunch by myself since it’s one of the few times that I get to be alone.
That’s awesome that you got to have lunch with Janae! I enjoy reading both of your blogs!
Livi @ Eat, Pray, Work It Out says
I definitely have those days//weeks where I snack so much I never actually let myself get hungry!
Annette says
I had lunch alone while watching “My Date from Hell”…it seemed normal, but it sounds weird after reading this comment. :0)
Kirtley Freckleton @ The Gist of Fit says
Today I will be eating lunch with about 50 other people! Hellllo family reunion!
I bet you could do a sub 3 hr marathon missy!! The question is…do you even want to ? Haha. Take care!
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine says
I usually eat lunch at by myself- its usually the only somewhat quiet 10 minutes of the day that I get at work. That’s so fun that you got to hang out with Janae!
Allie says
I wish I had blogger friends who could just drop in for lunch. That is too cool. I may need to move 🙂
Sue says
Coincidentally, it’s lunch now and I’m having crackers with homemade PB and chia seeds.

Lunch with my boyfriend. He knew I was feeling really down yesterday because our families were enjoying some delicious pizzas and I could not because it wasn’t gluten free, so today he took me across town to get gluten free pizza! It was better than I ever dreamed!
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
I had leftover Chinese food for lunch (chicken w string beans and fried rice). And then my boss gave me two rasberry and chocolate pepperidge farm MilAno cookies and I was blown away. Might just be my new favorite cookie 🙂
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
Love when 2 of my fav bloggers meet up in real life! hmmmm today I had lunch with myself. And Rachael Ray was keeping me company on food network- does that count? 😉
Kari @ Kari On says
I ate lunch with 2 of my fabulous co-workers. They make me laugh and help me make it through the workday. Definitely still not as cool as the two of you eating lunch together though…

Kathryn @ Chicks Dig Running says
Cute! I love both of your blogs.
I got home on a red eye flight this morning so I went to bed at about 6:30 am and woke up around 11:00 for brunch, which was a turkey sandwich with my pup, Honey. Pretty spectacular lunch date if you ask me!
Margaret @ HappyHealthtyPDX says
I ate lunch with a few spreadsheets at my cubicle. Womp womp womp.
Natalie @ Never Serious Blog says
Your salad looks like the bomb-diggity. I had a potbelly turkey sandwich and some carrots and hummus with about 37987341 glasses of water because it is so hot that I CANT GET ENOUGH WATER.
Tiffany @ The Chi-Athlete says
Lunch with the both of you = TOTAL AWESOME OVERLOAD! <3 !!!!!
Becky @ Olives n Wine says
Love Janae! That’s awesome you two were able to grab lunch together 🙂 I worked through lunch today so I had it with my computer… Does that count?!
Courtney @The TriGirl Chronicles says
I had lunch with two co-workers. Definitely not as cool as two rock star running bloggers grabbing lunch together!
Linda @ Fit Fed and Happy says
It’s so fulfilling to meet up with another runner, especially if that runner is also a blogger! Wish I couldve joined you guys at a run.
And both of you got SALADS! MY fav food. My friends would’ve laughed at me and called me a dork. You had a great day!
Michele@paleorunningmomma says
As usual I rushed to eat lunch by myself before picking my son up from camp. It’s much more pleasant to eat without him asking “mommy what are you eating” every 5 seconds! That is so cool that you got to hang with Janae – first running blogger I ever read and still read daily 🙂
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan says
I had lunch with my class of 7 toddlers today – something my work called “chicken” and some mashed potatoes and gravy.
I am SO bad about snacking when I get home from work and not being hungry for dinner! I am a total snack addict.
