Run Eat Repeat

Running Hunger

Lunch

FacebookTweetPin
22 Feb

Wow, these last few days of not running have made me realize how much running impacts my appetite! I have definitely not been as hungry as usual. It has also been a little bit easier to avoid night time snacking! That is the one pleasant surprise to come out of my very sad running-less days 🙁

So, as long as I eat according to my hunger and NOT according to my habits then I’ll be okay during this time off 🙂

After kick boxing I had to stop by school, then the store and now I am scarfing down lunch before my PT appointment.

I made a veggie burger on a sandwich thin with hummus and ketchup.IMG_5543

On the side I had sweet peppers that weren’t sweet at all. These are the worst sweet peppers ever. Boo.IMG_5542

I changed the appointment for my MRI reading to tomorrow – I’m very anxious to see what it shows!

But, for now I’ve got to jam out of here and get to my appointment! I haven’t been able to spend more than 5 minutes at the computer today – so I’ll respond to comments and questions later tonight 🙂

I wish my appetite would go away when I don’t run. Unfortunately, I don’t have that “problem.”

I can’t eat peppers raw. O.o They have this weird taste that makes me gag.

That sucks about the peppers! I hate it when I pack something thinking it’s going to be soo good and end up disappointed.

I had my long run on Saturday morning and didn’t feel really hungry until Sunday morning. I woke up famished and then I felt snacky all day. I had a small bowl of soup with some homemade bread for dinner, but other than that I craved carby things throughout the day. I do realize that if I eat balanced meals, my hunger isn’t so bad.

I totally agree with the hunger thing! I took a break around the holidays from running and switched to more strength and noticed a huge drop in my appetite which is a blessing. It is hard to gauge the amount of food I will need when packing my lunch for work and, quite honestly, keeping up with fueling while running can be annoying. I feel like I have to have food on hand at all times! So enjoy the break–it may help with understanding WHY you eat more when you are running and that it’s ok 🙂

I know exactly what you mean! I noticed my hunger plummeted without running – I definitely wasn’t as hungry for snacks and at night either. Dinner was enough! And then when I started to run a little more I noticed my hunger skyrocket! It’s crazy.

What the frigs up with the misleading peppers! I bought a HUGE jar of Sweet Peps and there’s wasn’t a single but of sweetness. RUDE!!
Good job listening to your hunger cues and realizing they aren’t that strong lately!

Sorry to hear about your knee issues. What a bummer! I am still on the road to recovery with my knees and it is very disheartening at times. I want to plan some races, but right now, I know I can’t. At least the eliptical and spin classes can still be my friend!

I never knew you could eat peppers straight on the side like that. I guess that’s what I missed growing up in a house with a mom who hates peppers
