Run Eat Repeat

“Before”and “After” My Long Run

Running

30 Aug

I did a long run Saturday morning and wanted to share the realities of the ‘Before’ and ‘After’ a long run…

before and after long run marathon training blog

Before a long run:

I carb-load. A lot. I legit bought a loaf of bread on Friday and ate half of it before dinner.

whole loaf of bread (800x450)

After a long run:

I eat all the things.

I couldn’t stop thinking about veggie straws the entire run. I know, random but true. So I bought two kinds and ate most of them.

Before:

I look like a (relatively) normal person.

new lip stain blog (800x450)

{The lipstain is a new to me Cate McNabb one I thought was going to be way way too dark for me but I really like it!}

After:

I look like this…

long run report blog 14 (800x450)

Before:

I’m actually super excited to get out there and log the miles!

“Let’s do this!!! Go go gooooo! Just keep swimming…”

long run report blog 15 (450x800)

(My HOKAS that I love)

After:

“Maybe I should step down to the half marathon…”

long run report blog 16 (450x800)

Before a long run:

I hydrate like a boss.

After a long run:

I rehydrate with an entire watermelon,

and fajitas. And ice cream.

long run report blog 7 (800x450)

Before:

I am naturally way too energetic.

dancing

After:

I need all the caffeine and Spark I can get my hands on!

long run report blog 6 (450x800)

Before:

before long run

After:

me after a long run

Before:

I make healthy choices 80% of the time!

epic salad time with monican (800x600)

After:

I made poor choices 80% of the time

Before:

before long run drinking

After:

taco bell

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. Now I’m off to eat!!

Question: What did you do this weekend? What was the BEST thing you did or ate??

It was an extended weekend for us (Monday off for Independence Day) and it was a pretty happening weekend – huge gathering of citizens for Bersih 4.0 (demanding for removal of prime minister, anti-corruption, electoral reform) on Saturday and Sunday and Independence Day on Monday.

This was a great, funny post!
My daughter’s 3rd birthday party was this weekend so naturally I ate way too much sugar.

Running all those miles must be tough.

This weekend I did a super unorganized and untimed 5K (which reminded me why I don’t do 5Ks) and had delicious French toast and mimosas after. Sunday I nailed my first ever 20 mi training run. I was getting anxious about it but the scenic route along the north San Diego county coast helped. I then proceeded to stuff my face with hawaiian pizza. Excellent life choice.

The very best thing I did was visit my friends’ new place and bring them a housewarming gift. The best thing I ate was Marks and Spencers Pecan & Maple Syrup Peanut Butter. That shit is the bomb. And I definitely didn’t eat it outta the jar…

Hah! This is such a great post.

Best thing(s) I did all weekend was run 20 miles in the pouring rain Saturday morning and then consume so much wine Saturday night with a girlfriend while we caught up on gossip and bad dates.

I took an awesome spin class yesterday – it was a Calvin Harris vs Taylor Swift ride and it kicked my butt! And I “accidentally” over purchased watermelon for meal prepping this week, so I had a whole half left to snack on yesterday afternoon. Not the worst mistake in the world!

LOVE Spark by the way and love that you’re promoting it! I just tried fruit punch this weekend and it is a GAME CHANGER.

I refueled with watermelon after my long run too. Always a necessity. Best thing(s) I ate: everything with avocados.

I had a decent 10 miler. But I think I got food poisoning from something I ate at dinner Saturday night. 🙁

I had a super nice weekend. Last week was hell, sheer hell. So I turned off my laptop and didn’t do any work all weekend. Yesterday I got a mani / pedi and went to an amazing bridal shower. Today I went on a good bike ride with my hubby and the church picnic tonight. BEST thing I ate all weekend was a Belgian waffle with strawberries and whip cream. Do it for the waffles, that’s what I say!
