Last night Ben insisted on making chocolate chip cookies. Luckily, I convinced him to make half a batch, but we still have had* a lot of cookies for two people! (Yes, had. Oops.)
They came out good, but he didn’t put enough chocolate chip in and buttered the pan very generously (even though the directions said not to). I ate two last night and another BIG one in the middle of the night. Yeah, I couldn’t sleep and laid in bed for 2 1/2 hours before getting up for milk and cookies. Call me Santa
I was really trying to get a good night of sleep because I’m going to be doing a 5:30am boot camp Monday through Thursday now! Remember last week when I went to a boot camp training? Well, a local camp needs a new trainer so I will be attending the camp for a few weeks to learn the style before taking over the camp!!
This was on the way home – I need coffee and a nap.
This was the start of a new session of boot camp, so the work out was very introductory. We learned each other’s names and some common exercises. When I got home I had a banana and a bite of Ben’s egg sandwich before going for a run.
My Garmin is still dead from this weekend (I left it in my car) so I tried something new. A rep from Motorola sent me a MOTOACTV on Friday and decided to give it a whirl. It is a fitness tracker AND music player AND more that I haven’t figured out yet. I haven’t loaded music yet and just used it to track my distance and pace. Full review coming soon!
Half a mile from my house I got hungry. I decided to cut the run to 3 miles total and go home to eat.
New workout plan: Since I am training for another race I cannot continue to cut runs short. Going forward I’m going to take my running gear to the boot camp location and run around that neighborhood so I don’t have so much time between waking and eating a full meal. I am only running 3-4 days a week right now so that should only happen 2 days after camp.
Since the camp has members with many different abilities the instructor is leading and helping, but does not do the workouts. Once I start teaching the camp myself I will not be doing the workouts and will definitely need to get in my runs with this plan!
Question: I am attending a cookie exchange party on Wednesday and need an easy and delicious cookie recipe. What should I make?

Make hidden kisses cookies! I’m sure there’s an actual recipe, but honestly you could probably just use any kind of cookie dough…the point is to surround a hershey kiss with dough & bake it…then the kiss is the surprise inside. Mmmm.

I do not leave comments, I take and do not give. I read RER and two other blogs religously, but I don’t often feel I have much to contribute in way of comments. However, since we are talking about cookies I will make a suggestion. The Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies on AllRecipes.com are FANTASTIC!!!! This cookie is the love child of the Chocolate Chip Cookie and the Peanut Butter Cookie. My three children love for cookie dough to be frozen so they can enjoy a naughty frozen cookie dough with their breakfast the following morning. Use it for Wednesday to WOW all your friends. Or just print and save the recipe for another time. The recipe has an average 4 1/2 stars, 800+ reviewers can’t be wrong, just don’t listen to the individuals that gave them one or two stars… those people don’t even eat or enjoy cookies so they shouldn’t even be allowed to leave comments. Use agave nectar or honey in place of corn syrup and we always use shortening instead of butter because I can’t have dairy.

I’ve got the best cookie exchange “recipe” ever. I take that betty crocker oatmeal cookie mix (the dry mix) and mix as directed but I add a little coconut, chocolate chips, and dried cranberries (in the baking section). They taste like they’re homemade and they’re different but really yummy!

Good luck with the teaching! When I teach, I burn A LOT more calories than I always FEEL like I am. While it’s definitely not training level stuff for myself or you, you’ll probably be surprised at how active you are while teaching outside vs. PT in the gym (although it certainly depends on your style). I would definitely encourage you to wear a HR monitor or body bugg or whatever just to give yourself a fueling baseline — if for no other reason than to give yourself clearance for a few extra cookies 😉

ah that sounds like so much fun! Looks like your job is really blossoming! That’s so great! 🙂 This is my go-to recipe for chocolate chip cookies. I obviously switch out the m&ms, but you could use Christmas colored m&ms for the season!

Kraft has a whole whack of Cookie Ball recipes (think cake pops but made with crushed cookies instead!) The best part is, unless you decide to make homemade cookies to use in them, they are no bake 🙂

These aren’t exactly cookies but they are easy, unique and delicious! Lay mini pretzels on a baking sheet. Place a rolo on top of each one. Put in the oven at 250 for maybe 3-4 min or until the rolos are just slightly soft. Then take them out and place a pecan on top of each rolo, pressing down into the pretzel. Don’t have a name for these but I make them all the time and get rave reviews! 🙂

I was totally thinking about doing this since I’m not the best baker!

Mexican Wedding Cookies!
A few simple ingredients, easy to put together and the bonus of looking like little snowballs when they get rolled in powdered sugar.

My favorite ones are super simple, like flourless peanut butter cookies. Peanut butter, an egg, and sugar? I can handle that.
Khushboo says
As much as I love Choc chip cookies, I vote sugar cookies. I don’t know what it is about them that screams Christmas!

So, we make these cookies every once and a while (or we’d eat way too many) … they are INCREDIBLE. not too sweet, and the texture is addicting. http://everylastcookie.blogspot.com/2009/08/cookie-032-dark-chocolate-cookies-with.html and (recipe) http://www.marthastewart.com/337684/dark-chocolate-cookies-with-sour-cherrie. The sour/tart cherries are the BOMB in these, and the chocolate is AWESOME.

I threw together these Devil’s Food Cake cookies a couple times and they’re super quick and simple and moist. I make them whenever I’m in a bind and have guests over. I’m sure they’d work with any cake mix flavor you hapen to have.
