Hello and Happy Sunday! As you might have figured out, I love cherries and recently heard about a Whole Foods recipe contest using them! I’m totally on board with this (as long as I don’t eat them all first).
The recipe is supposed to be kid friendly so I immediately brainstormed a pizza, but cherries instead of pepperoni – hence the name “Cherreroni” Pizzas.
Cherreroni Pizzas (Makes 4 pizzas)
Ingredients: 4 whole wheat pitas, 1 container honey yogurt (or non-dairy sub), 1 cup pitted, 1 sliced banana, 1 cup sliced honeydew, shredded coconut
Directions:
1. Pit 1 cup of cherries and chop up additional fruits of your choice. I used bananas and honeydew.
2. Toast 4 pitas.
3. Spread 1/4 of the honey flavored yogurt (or flavor of your choice) on a pita.
4. Top with fruit! The kids can help with this step
5. Optional – sprinkle some shredded coconut on top.
The coconut is optional, but does make the pizza look more fun!
Kid tested and approved.(We have my little brother, Matt, staying with us this weekend.)
After our kid friendly breakfast Matt and I headed to Costco for some essentials (read: watermelon and cheesecake). I wish this life sized bear was an essential, but there’s not room in the budget. Boo.
But to my horror, Costco didn’t have any watermelon?!?!?!!? I know.

yummm healthy pizza..that means I can jump on the overeating train. yayy!!
Also I can’t believe I’ve never mentioned this..but your little brother Matt looks like like my little brother. With the last name Gomez, I get a lot of weird looks because of my blonde hair and blue eyes and pasty white skin, especially when I with my younger sibs who have dark hair, brown eyes and the skin of greek gods…sh*t happens.
hahah

No way! Love the coincidence 🙂

Yum! So cute. I’ve heard so many people talking about WF cherries lately, it’s hilarious. Apparently I’ve been missing out!

That pizza looks amazing!

I like cherries because they’re easily visable in poop. If I have to wipe a kid’s butt it better have something funny in it -like black frosting makes poop blue. It’s the little things in parenting that make the world go round — give me fun poop please!
-take a shot every time I say “POOP”

That pizza is such a good idea! 🙂
And I love the huge teddy bear too!

no watermelon at costco – bastards! shouldn’t costco’s watermelon be the biggest watermelon ever. and shouldn’t it come in packs of 20? that would be my heaven.
Christine @ BookishlyB says
That looks good! And I love that it’s not a strict 1 tsp of this, 2tbs of that recipe and is flexible as far as substituting different types of fruits or yogurt.

This is a great recipe! I need to bookmark this for when my nieces come to visit. thanks for sharing! And how in the world did Costco didn’t have watermelon?! That is just un-American, especially in the summer.
