Choco-cado Mousse Recipe

You know what happens when your mom has two huge avocado trees?

Every once in a while you come home with about 30 pounds of avocados that must be eaten!

So, I gave some to my neighbors.

I ate 18 pounds of guacamole.

I froze some.

I made Avocado Crème Sauce.

guacamole

I am to avocados what Bubba is to shrimp… (Yep, second Forest Gump reference in a week, hey it works)

I’ve seen sweet recipes like smoothies and baked goods with avocado online, but they never really appealed to me. I mean, avocado sweet? Seems suspect.

But, at this point I didn’t have a choice. I finally bit the bullet avocado seed and made a sweet recipe with the good stuff…

Chocolate Avocado Mousse Recipe

{Recipe is: Vegan, Gluten-free, Non-GMO}

Ingredients:

  • 1 small avocado, ripe peeled
  • 1 frozen ripe banana
  • 1 Tb. agave or honey
  • 1 Tb. cocoa powder
  • 2 Tb. Silk almond milk, more as needed
  • dash of salt

Directions: Please ingredients in a blender or food processor. Mix. You can add more Silk milk as needed to reach desired consistency, but very slowly as you want it to be thick not runny.

Garnish with mint leaves, chocolate shavings or some red berries for color. Enjoy!

Speaking of avocado…

Have you seen this new Subway commercial? Ha!

Question: Do you have a food processor?

I don’t. I did and now I don’t anymore. I really have no idea where it went…

Ha! Busted. Yes, my basil is prettier than my mint right now 🙂 It’s from my tiny lil garden.

The recipe did not indicate how many servings so I ate it all by myself. Its my lunch!!!!

I have three food processors, each one a different size plus a Blentec. They all get used except for the large food processor. I probably have another blender around here too. That’s what happens when you blend 2-3 households together.

You are lucky to have avocadoes – I can get a bag of 5 for $3 if they are on sale, or they cost $1.25 each. So they are a treat for me!

I own a food processor and it is very handy for making pie dough and hummous (the two items are use it for the most). I also make tomato sauce in it too. I don’t think I could live without it now that I use it alot!

Not sure I can jump on the sweet avocado bandwagon, but good for you for being adventurous! 😉

I have a food processor but it is teeny (like 2-cup maybe?). Anyway, it works great for single-serving stuff. Maybe someday I’ll upgrade, but for now I use it well.

My food processor is one of those gadgets that I can’t imagine living without. That and my Vitamix 😉

i think i’d have to do that same! avocados, in my mind, should always be savory, and oatmeal should always be sweet 🙂 an egg on top of oats scares me.

I wish I was your neighbor…I would use up those avocados in a heartbeat!
I got a mini-Cuisnart from Groupon recently. I’m surprised how handy it is.

My mom & dad have an avocado so we always get a million tons! Your Forrest Gump reference cracked me up because my husband told me earlier this week I was to quinoa what Bubba was to shrimp! 🙂
I have a food processor, but barely use it since I bought a Blendtec. But I CAN’T get rid of it, or I will obviously need it within 24 hours.

Umm..I know someone down the street who’s kids could eat avocados by the pound if you ever need to unload some. Just sayin’ 😉 Seriously, the boys think avocados are God’s gift to humanity – which is good because they pretty much are!

Jealous. Avacado’s are $1.12 here now and likely going up in price soon. I could eat them all day.

Yes, I have a wide mouth food processor that I seldom use. I was only using it to make hummus. Once I purchased the Vitamix I didn’t need it for that.
