Last night I updated my calendar with my travel schedule. Um, it’s crazy – in a good way, but still.
Only about 70% of these are confirmed, but I’m trying to make sure I don’t overextend myself by writing it all down. Given time, work, money constraints I’ll probably opt out of a few events but I want to make sure I get to go to my favorites!
(Yes, I use Google Calendar too but I like this.)
Upcoming this month:
RRCA coaching certification in Tucson
Moderating a panel at the Latina Bloggers Conference in LA (that’s local) = huge honor!
So then, I realized the Women’s Half Marathon Series Bloomington is in 66 days! It’s somewhere I’ve never been, so I’m excited.
I’m also excited to share this code – get $10 off when you register with the code FITMNMON.

Question: Planning any summer vacations?
Destination Races? Where to?
Maria says
Bloomington Half has been cancelled. Boo hoo!
Susan says
The only vacation that we have planned is my husband is taking me to NYC for our 18th wedding anniversary. I’ve never been. We’re going to see Wicked and do some touristy things.
LOTS OF RACING DESTINATIONS: Kansas (for Wickedly Fast on 04-20), Tennessee (for Rock ‘n’ Roll Country Music Half on 04-27), Pennsylvania (for Rock ‘n’ Roll Pittsburgh in August?), West Virginia (News & Sentinel Half – cant remember what month, maybe September.). I think that’s all. Aside from doing IMS Arizona in February I’m still trying to knock out all the states that are “reasonably” drivable from Indiana.
Anne says
Sweet calendar ! Is that a wall in your apartment ?! Love it 🙂
Your September looks empty. VA Beach Rock n Roll Half ?! I bet they have great Margaritas somewhere close to the beach 😉
Ali says
I’m so excited for the Bloomington 1/2! This spring/summer I have a few race vacations coming up and am kicking it off with Nike in DC in 2 weeks!
Heidi says
I hope you love the Midwest! 🙂 I’m shooting a wedding that day, or I would sign up. Saturday races are tricky for me! 🙁
Megan says
Holy crow your schedule is crazy! Do you have a day job or just live off the ole bloggeroo?
Vanessa says
That sounds amazing! I love to travel so this calendar looks perfect to me. Enjoy 🙂
Sue says
I use paper and pen too! No destination races planned coz I’m nursing a stress fracture – big big big huge huge huge difference from the last 2 years. Think all those weekend getaways was also getting to me, so this time out is probably what I need.
Ashleigh says
I will be running in Bloomington, and Lee @ fit foodie finds is setting up a reader/MN runners meet-up…maybe everyone could join in!
runeatrepeat says
Yeah, keep me posted on the details!
Brooke says
I’m so excited for you that you’re doing the half marathon in Minnesota! I’m hoping to do the Twin Cities Marathon in October. Maybe. I’m also hoping to move back to Minnesota this summer, though not in time for the Bloomington half.
Sara u says
You gotta go get an eegee @ Eegees. Then go to oreganos when you are in Tucson!
momtaxijulie says
We can’t afford to go tooo far (hook me up with a sponsor will ya ;)) but we did just sign up for a big bike race in June for our 20th anniversary. We’ll be biking the area where we stayed on our honeymoon. Makes me kind of teary 😉
Art @ Fit at Fifty says
We have not booked a trip yet this year, but in the past we have done destination races to Chicago, Cincinnati, Louisville, Nashville and Memphis.
To me the ultimate summer vacation was the year we went to Hawaii.
I have a destination race to St. Louis booked in October.

I am planning on a vacation to Belize in July.
I am trying to stay local(Oregon) with races this year but I am doing the Chicago Marathon in October!
Colleen says
Yes!!! Several destination adventure races!!! I’m also a traveling aerobic instructor and get “shipped” to resorts during the summer. Amazing!!!!
Lindsey @ Run Freckles Run says
The farthest race I have planned is an hour and a half away from where I live in Hershey PA.
Do you have any races planned on the east coast?
runeatrepeat says
I will be in NY in June for an event, but no races just yet 🙂
Denise P. says
For once I’m not registered for a single race for the rest of the year. Feels so wierd, but I’m embarking on a new phase of life and I need to be responsible with money and pay off my debts so I can get married and have babies! Plus, I did a lot of traveling last year for races – Maui was the highlight and I’ve already been to Dallas this year.
So far the only summer trip plans is a quick weekend roadtrip to wine country Solvang for a big bash for my future husband’s 35th in early June.
Nicole @ One Running Mama says
Ha! I thought you meant Bloomington, CA and I was really confused. Why the heck would anyone run a half in Bloomington?!
Anywho… We’re vacationing in Carlsbad with my husband’s family. That’s always fun. (<– I know that looks sarcastic, but it's not. Just wanted to clear that up.)
Destination race? How does one define "destination?" Does than mean you're staying in a hotel? Because my hubby and I are doing a trail run in Trabuco Canyon this weekend. (Yup, I'm THAT Nicole! From the Expo! And, yes, I *did* start a blog! Cray, right?)
Alright. See ya 🙂
Ida says
i think i see hood to coast in there! i’m doing my first realy this fall. i’ve got seattle RnR 1/2 on tap too- hopefully with a side trip up to vancouver.
Mares says
OMG! When you said Bloomington I thought surely you don’t mean Minnesota <– who goes to Minnesota!?
If you get a chance, try to get OUT of Bloomington before you judge Minnesota (;
See you at the starting line!
Liza says
Wow you travel so much! I am going away for a month this summer to do a study on intonation/stress patterns in Sweden and my husband and I are already talking about how long a month apart seems! How do you and Ben do it? Does he go with you a lot? Or do you just make time for each other when you are home together?
Krysten Siba Bishop (@darwinianfail) says
Busy little bee! It sounds like lot of fun though!!
Elizabeth @ Positive Change says
My husband and I are going on a cruise at the end of May we are super pumped! My only destination races are the RunDisney. We are both HUGE disney fans and make a trip of it each year!
meredith says
Does this Sunday’s Fitness Mag Women’s Half count in Manhattan as a destination race since I live on Long Island? lol. If so, I am destination racing this weekend…I plan on doing the Hershey Park half again in October and hoping to register shortly for Disney Wold Half in January- registration just opened.
Chelsea says
Just looking at your schedule makes me feel tired! Unfortunately, budget constraints mean no big race-cations this summer, but there are some local 5Ks and such that look pretty awesome, so hopefully those will be making an appearance 🙂
Sarah G says
You are seriously a blogger after my own heart with this post. I’m a little obsessive when it comes to my race calendar, though mine pales in comparison to yours! I have 6 races I’m currently registered for and 5 more marked as tentative, but I am sure there will end up being several more than that once all is said and done.
The big ones on my list are the Broad Street Run 10-miler in Philly May 5, ODDyssey half marathon (Philly) June 9, Spartan Race in the Poconos July 13 and Philadelphia Marathon Nov 17. 🙂
After this year, I am totally going to start doing destination races! I have already convinced my husband to make a vacation out of Big Sur, hopefully next year.
karen @tradingheels.com says
I’ll be heading to Washington for the Marine Corps Marathon. It will be my first out of state race. Nervous! You have a got a busy schedule! Get some rest.:)
Erica says
I try to count calories – so hard. All the little things add up! I guess I just need to up the running x ten and I will finally lose a couple of lbs!
michelle kim says
I have the Big Sur Marathon (Monterey/Carmel area) and the M2B marathon, which will be in Ojai (far from the Bay Area). Then the Malibu marathon in the fall, which will also be a destination race.
Annie says
I am trying not to be incredibly jealous of all those wonderful races!!!
Karen @ Runner Girl Eats says
I’m always on the road! We have a few summer vacays for sure and working a couple more maybe. They add up fast so were trying to wor out the budget now.
Miranda @ Miranda Runs says
I’m going with my boyfriend and his family to Disneyland this summer. EEEEEE! I’m excited 🙂
runeatrepeat says
FUN!!!
PattiR says
AHHHH!!! YOU’RE COMING TO MN?!?! How did i miss that?? I live in MN!! I have this race on my tentative schedule depending on how my crappy knee feels after a half i’m doing next month. If i feel good, i’m doing the Bloomington race. I’ll keep my eyes out for you if i end up doing it. Yeah for MN!
runeatrepeat says
Yeah! Hopefully I’ll see you 🙂
Sam says
That’s SO exciting! I envy you for juggling such a schedule– I have a hard enough time juggling dishes, cooking, laundry, and watching the kids!
Have fun 🙂
runeatrepeat says
Sounds like you have your hands more full than I do!
april says
my family and i are doing a mini getaway to san clemente this weekend. i’m excited 🙂 (side note: i know you live in the OC – do you happen to have any recs for food or fun?)
runeatrepeat says
I don’t know about SC beaches, but Laguna Beach has some pretty tide pools with star fish. I’m sure SC has some too, just not sure where. Have fun!
Gabby @ Marathons and Macarons says
I’m going to the Gulf Coast for a long weekend in May where I’ll have to do a 13 mile training run for a half marathon two weeks later – I’m nervous about finding a route that long, and in the heat! In July I’m visiting a friend in San Diego, which will be my first trip to the West Coast! (Not counting a family vacation when I was 3 years old, which I have no memories of.)
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
Looks like you have a full schedule!
I’m running The Biggest Loser 15k this summer but it’s only about an hour from me.
Quix says
Cruise to south carribean – Aruba, St. Thomas, etc. Can’t wait to run in another country and go Scuba and snorkel until I become a fish! 🙂
Thetinyrunner says
My honeymoon is in June and then we will be going to Duck, North Carolina for a week once we get back from the honeymoon! So exciting!
runeatrepeat says
Fun!!!
Sarah says
I’m trying to plan a trip for the end of May with my husband. I have a week off from work but we can’t decide:
a) fly through Reno, drive to Mammoth and ski a couple days, then back up to stay at a resort at Tahoe to hike/spa/eat
b) fly to LAX, drive up the coast to SLO and do wineries, tidal pools, Andersen’s Pea Soup, maybe as far as the Monterrey Bay Aquarium
Just.can’t.decide. Although now that I type it out, I’m leaning toward Mammoth/Tahoe…
runeatrepeat says
I’m partial to Paso Robles 🙂
lorin says
I go to college at Cal Poly and actually went to Mammoth for Spring Break. As fun as it is, you should head down to SLO. Also there is a place called Solvang, a Danish inspired town architecturally and food-wise, also by Andersen’s Pea Soup. Paso Robles has a small, but cute downtown along with great wineries as well!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
So far my only planned trip is to Utah for the Blend Retreat. I have a few races planned that are local but with a potential move on the horizon, that could mean they’re no longer local and I’ll be traveling back here several times this year. 😉
