Hello! How are you doing? I am over here just running and eating. My favorite things. And I am pretty excited to share a legit new favorite protein powder! But first, running…
And eatin’ with Vegas.
Okay. Let’s talk pre-workout and protein powder. Disclosure – Daily Burn sent me both these products to try. But I am super picky about both so I didn’t agree to review them until I knew I liked ‘em.
First the Pre Workout Amplifier. I used to think of pre-workout as something only weight lifters use, but I recently tried one from Costco and dug it. So, I was down to this PRE too.
I don’t feel a big difference in stamina when I use it versus when I don’t, but that may also be because my stamina is maxed out and/or I’m weird/not paying attention when I’m running. But it is tasty. And I like sipping something other than water before a long run just because it’s nice to change it up if nothing else.
Bonus: PRE is on sale right now on the DB site.
Now to Fuel-6 aka Protein Powder. Randomly, I get a lot of questions about my favorite protein powder. I used to use it all all the time, but I had to stop using my old fave because it had soy in it and I found out that’s not good for me due to my thyroid issues. Boo.
So, I have been on the hunt for a similar tasting, similar consistency protein powder without soy for years. Years.
This protein powder by Daily Burn is Vegan, Gluten free, Dairy free and Soy free! Boom.
The first time I tried it I added half a banana and some peanut butter with ice and almond milk. It was delicious! Ben was here and he tasted it too. He said it was a little too sweet with the add-ins, but that means it was perfect for me
The ultimate test of a good protein powder for me is NOT having to add fruit to make it taste good. I eat A LOT of fruit every day. Alalalala lot. (Read: it’s 1pm and I’ve already had a banana, cherries and finished off a big container of blueberries.)
Anyway.
This weekend I made a green SIAB (smoothie in a bowl) with just the Fuel 6, almond milk, ice and spinach and it was so good! I am making another one in 3 seconds…
Tip: I blend it twice because consistency is super important to me with protein powder and that makes it nice and creamy.
Here is the nutrition information for the vanilla protein powder. It’s made with pea and rice protein. Good deal!
It comes in Vanilla or Chocolate. I’ve only tried the vanilla.
Bonus: Right now they are offering free shipping on orders over $49.99
Fun fact: I am a chocolate girl ALL THE WAY with everything in life except protein powder. I even eat the Mocha gels when running, never a fruit or vanilla flavor. But for protein powder I prefer a vanilla or fruit flavor and tons of toppings.
Question: If you had to choose ONE =
Chocolate or Vanilla?

I am super picky about my protein powders too!! I would say vanilla because it is easier to mix things in – strawberries, spinach, etc. But since I discovered Isagenix Isalean protein powders I am obsessed with strawberry and chocolate!! And I love that they are soy free. I’m not too crazy that they are dairy but plant proteins bother me if you know what I mean!!!
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan says
This is a terrible choice to have to make. And it depends on what it is. Chocolate. No, vanilla! Don’t make me choose!
Tracy says
I always go for vanilla protein powder so that I can flavor it up any which way I feel like that day. Easy enough to add some cacao powder to the blender later 🙂 Thanks for the review – I’m always on the lookout for a good vegan powder!
Nikki says
Chocolate for sure!! I was going to ask you if you’ve heard of Juice Plus but you can’t have soy! 🙁
Christy Thomas says
Crazy thought… If I were to buy the vanilla, would it be possible to add chocolate syrup to make it taste like chocolate, thereby serving both purposes? I was thinking about trying protein powder and wondering about all the flavor possibilities… 🙂 Thanks for any comments!
runeatrepeat says
YES! This would totally work, probably with cocoa powder too.
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
My protein powders have always been chocolate, but once this one is done I’ve been thinking about switching to vanilla bc I think it will go better with a wider variety of flavors.
I love chocolate as chocolate or brownies, but any cake or ice cream I want to be vanilla.

Vanilla…don’t like chocolate anything.
Jill @ Champagne for Everyday says
Interesting to hear about your experience with these products! My pre-workout amplifier is coffee, and post is oatmeal and protein powder! I always wonder if actual supplements would make a big difference.

vanilla! I only eat chocolate in its purest form. But everything flavored goes the vanilla route. =)
Livi @ Eat, Pray, Work It Out says
It’s been so long since i’ve had a SIAB! I miss them!
Sue says
Chocolate for sure since I take my protein shake straight up though I’m trying to move away from protein supplements (gotta finish the tub I bought). Am alternating my protein supplement with homemade protein bars for my after workout snack.
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
Vanilla all the wayyyy! I don’t like chocolate things unless it’s a bar of chocolate or chocolate chip cookies… mmm
Sarah @ RunningChickago says
that mayo cartoon is just about the best thing i’ve ever seen. thanks for the laugh!!

I love chocolate in candy form, but prefer vanilla flavored everything else (ice cream, cake, shakes, pudding). Bizarre, I know.
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
I’ve eaten more fruit than you today! 🙂 And I choose chocolate.
AdjustedReality says
Oh man, it depends. Probably chocolate, but that can limit toppings sometimes. I currently have in my kitchen: vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate cookie, orange, and cinnamon. I like options!
Alisha @ Real Girl Running says
Vanilla! I’ve never tried pre-workout fuel either, but I might give it a go 🙂
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
I love everything chocolate. But I actually prefer vanilla protein powders and drinks.
Kelsie says
I’m weird with protein powder too! I usually go for chocolate anything, but vanilla is always my choice for protein powder.
