Hello! It’s episode #6 of the Run Eat Repeat podcast. We’re talking about my biggest race regret (it’s not what you think) and body positivity. How do we deal with loving ourselves if we really don’t deep down? Do we fake it? Is it okay if you don’t love your body???
Warm up
Biggest Running Regret.
Kevin Hart announced he will be running the NYC Marathon this year on Twitter. That’s awesome! And it reminded me of my biggest race regret…
Main thing…
What if you don’t love your body?

Love Yourself Challenge:
Everyday for the next 21 days – take 10 seconds to tell yourself this positive message in the mirror. Do it twice a day if you can. Repeat.
Awards…
First place – Despacito… I like the Bieber version too but this video is everything.
Second place – TJ’s cocoa nibs.

Yes to all of this! I’m so tired of all the body-shaming especially when it’s women shaming other women. We need to set a better examples for young girls and teach them to love their bodies!
Thanks, Monica!

Monica, I loved this and appreciate you being so honest (again!). Anyone who has struggled with body acceptance will agree that it’s a little bit of a process. But yes as a group we are turning a corner and that’s wonderful, especially looking ahead to how the next generation might grow up. I have daughters in their twenties who hopefully have a better outlook than I did at that age, and I have nieces in middle school who are right on the edge.
I was just talking about this with a friend on our run this morning: The idea that it can be a fine line between wellness and goals… and possibly developing an eating disorder. Funny thing, to flirt with that line even while being really really active.
What matters most if how you see yourself of course (true for each of us), but for what it’s worth you are not only looking trim and beautiful; you are exuding lots of wisdom and strength, and that is super magnetic. Keep it up. Take care of yourself.
PS Did you read Hungry Runner Girl’s bit about your body being a paintbrush? Very interesting and cool.

I haven’t seen that yet – I’ll check it out. Thanks for the head’s up.

Such an important topic! I think we are hardest on ourselves, or at least I am. I am going through some meditation practices from @ekhartyoga that help me reinforce ❤️ 4 myself and my body. Do you do any yoga practices like that?
