Dress for Running Success

Breakfast

27 Mar

I busted out seven miles today but it was cold and windy! Since the sun was shining brightly I thought the temps were higher (as they’ve been the last few days). But I misjudged and didn’t dress as warm as I should have.

See, I was dressed like this…monica in utah

When I should have been dressed like this…IMG_3357 okay maybe I’m exaggerating – but the point is I was COLD and my hands hurt. I love running, so I hate when I am out on a run and keep thinking about how great it will be to get back inside.

Before I left I had a small bowl of cereal while wasting time on Twitter 🙂 DSCN6616

Now that I can run again and there is no snow I am very happy to explore my city! I ran around and then headed to David’s Natural Foods market. I picked up a few things that were on sale and then called Ben to come pick me up 🙂

He’s my knight in shining pick up truck, if you will. (old pic)ben in car

I had breakfast all planned out in my head and once I got home and showered I got to it! DSCN6622

Two toaster waffles topped with an over easy egg and TJ’s Maple/Agave Syrup. I also had an orange on the side. *During the cooking process I had half a banana with almond butter because I was super shaky!!DSCN6621

Now I just need my stomach to catch up and realize I ate. I’m still pretty shaky and hungry!

Wait! In the middle of writing this post I looked out the patio door and saw a cat smelling around. I immediately screamed, “We have a cat! We have a cat!” to Ben.

This, unfortunately, scared the cat away 🙁 But I lured him/her back with tuna! Ha!

Cat: “She put out tuna – my kryptonite! Must.resist.tuna…”DSCN6624

Cat: “Damn it all to hell, I can’t take it. I’m going in.”DSCN6625

Cat: “Tuna, tuna, tuna…I love tuna…”DSCN6627

Cat: “I hope this was dolphin safe tuna.I don’t want PETA coming after me after these pics end up in the internet.”DSCN6628

Then the cat left 🙁 He’ll be back.

Now I must get back to icing my knee and then we are off on an adventure…DSCN6623

It was cold and windy during my run too! My hands were freezing but luckily I wore pants and a long sleeved shirt and a vest! Should’ve worn gloves though…

Look at that sweet kitty. They definitely cannot resist tuna! Sorry about it being colder than you thought. Tricky sun! But at least you toughed it out and I’m sure now you feel great that you conquered it!!!

I once started feeding a kitten by my house and it snowballed into me building a cat house for it and then I ended up flying to Florida with it to give him to a friend. 😯

I once iced a sprained ankle with a bag of frozen veg and my roommates refused to eat them. 😳 Thankfully I live by myself now!

Sprained ankle totally beats “saving” veggies.

Sorry about the too-cold-run! I hate those, they’re the worst. LOVE the breakfast, it’s so beautiful. I like my eggs nice and runny too 🙂 And the cat is too cute!

Part of my pre-run ritual is to check the weather to help choose my outfit. I hate being cold!

I need to start checking the weather! I’m so used to CA where it was just long sleeves or short – that’s it.

That cat is going to be your friend for life. The sun shining is deceptive, isn’t it? I went running this morning and it took forever for my feet to unthaw.

I ran today, too, thinking the sun was a good sign. Oh well, I suppose as long as nothing’s permanently frostbit, right? Have a fun adventure

Haha in college I used to put cat food out to feed the neighborhood cats and my roommates got so mad because they kept coming back and camping out on our stoop.

you know, i’ve never tried icing my knees with food. i am kind of a germaphobe and i irrationally think that somehow the sweat from my knees will penetrate through to the food.

This is my special bag of peas, just for my knee 🙂 But I’m not a germaphobe at all so if it wasn’t for the fact that there are gross from being frozen and thawed 209 times I think I would eat them.
