Hello! How’s it going?
Today is a rest day from running so I started my morning with a walk and some yoga at home. Ahhhh! I needed that.
Today we’re talking about Drive Safe Today Day. Living in SoCal I drive a lot – A LOT! I’ve been driving since I was 16. I like driving, traffic not so much – I’m sure most of you agree with me on that one! Those who have just started driving and bought a new car should get a tag and title registration and of course, a driver’s license. Or if your Audi needs repair or maintenance, look for a trusted auto shop that offers Audi repair services with trained and confident automotive experts.
I have shared a ton of pictures of me from my car after I looked to find affordable car shipping rates and wasn’t able to find anything… going to races, running errands, saying ‘hi’ and road tripping. Within the last couple of months I’ve driven to San Diego, Palm Springs, Ventura, Bakersfield and more!
I can act silly in pictures but I do take safe driving very seriously to prevent car accidents. I lost a very close friend in a fatal car accident when I was in high school and I remember everything about that time in my life like it was yesterday. Thankful to the personal injury attorney and car accident attorney who helped us get the compensation that his family deserved! Injured in Mesquite, TX? Call a personal injury attorney from Fielding Law. Most importantly, if you get involved in an auto accident, make sure to visit the nearest car injury clinic to check on your injuries.
So when Progressive contacted me to spread the word on their Drive Safe Day I was very happy to collaborate. I am careful, but just like with anything else I can get sloppy sometimes.
However I’ve read that if you wrecked a car while driving in Vegas for work, a reputable agency like Tingey Injury Law Firm will handle your workers’ compensation claim efficiently and effectively and help you get the benefits that you deserve. Those who will get involved in auto accidents may seek the expert services of an auto accident attorney.
“Drive Safe Today Day’ is September 3rd. Progressive is challenging us to pledge that we will drive safer that day.
There are dozens of ways to be a little safer while driving: not texting in the car, obeying the speed limit, taking a safer route to your destination and many more.
I am challenging myself not to eat in the car. I am really bad about chomping on grapes or cereal or whatever while I’m driving. It’s not against the law, but it takes some of my attention away from the road.
I want to encourage you to take the pledge at Drive Safe Today Day and tell all your friends too.
The hope is that we’ll carry these safer driving habits over to the next day and the next… and that would be even better! Did you suffer a severe injury in a motorcycle accident? Read about massachusetts comparative negligence law on tomkileylaw.com.
Question: How will you drive safer on Drive Safe Day?
Disclaimer: I’ve teamed up with Progressive for their Drive Safe Today initiative. Although I’ve been compensated for my post, the thoughts and ideas are my own.
Deborah Brooks @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
I do eat in the car but no texting. With a teen driver in our house now it’s really on my mind.
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
I always leave a safe amount of space between me and the car in front of me on the highway. I don’t want to have to slam on the breaks if they need to stop abruptly. Why do people tailgate. What’s the point. Just so unsafe.
Ashley says
SUCH a good point and something I’ve really tried to work on myself. Both for safety and so I take more time to enjoy good…
Heather says
Were u driving while taking the pics!? lol jk
runeatrepeat says
No these are trips with someone else in the car. I’ve done a lot of selfies in the car in the past but while parked or at red lights. But, now I realize I should just put my phone away all together 🙂
heather says
i take selfies too 🙁 we must end the selfie in car epidemic!!
Linda @ Fit Fed and Happy says
Opinion on hot yoga? 🙂
runeatrepeat says
I actually haven’t tried it yet. I spoke with someone who studies Aruveda in the past about hot yoga and my thyroid/body temp issues and she actually said it might not be good for me.
Sarah says
I think someone needs to start a driving campaign called “Pay *ucking Attention”. That sums up pretty much everything you should not do… texting, eating, talking, putting on your makeup, sleeping… while driving.
Sue says
and no selfies too!
Kathryn @ Chicks Dig Running says
I will drive safer on Drive Safe day by singing with only my mouth and using less hand gestures, which take my hands completely off the wheel and also get me so caught up in musical emotion that I really can’t be trusted behind the wheel.
No, but seriously- great message, let’s all pay attention! I live in a really busy city too where traffic is awful and it makes me so mad when I see people risking the lives of others by doing unsafe things in the car like changing lanes without looking or texting while driving. Everyone look up and drive safe!
runeatrepeat says
Ha! I didn’t even think about all the dance driving I do.

great message!

This is an appropriate post for today. On my way into work this morning, it was raining buckets, and there was a lot of flooding on the road (I live around Omaha, NE). Several times, I almost got driven off the road by people who weren’t paying attention. It doesn’t help that it was before 7 AM. 🙁
Drive safe everyone!

Glad you made it safe!!
