Have You Ever Put Egg Whites in a Smoothie?

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of AllWhites Egg Whites for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hello! I am feeling great considering I ran 26 miles yesterday, but I am HUNGRY – with all caps. The day after my long run is usually my hungriest day of the year (every time though so it happens every week). Luckily, I’m working with AllWhites Egg Whites this week and they gave me a smoothie recipe to try with egg whites in it – if that doesn’t help hold me over till dinner I don’t know what will!

Related: My favorite peep Leann took some pictures of me around mile 21 of the Surf City Marathon! I’m waving and blowing kisses because I haven’t seen her in way too long! Love you <3

Okay. Let’s talk about what I ate today – Meatless Monday and the day after a race:

I got up ready to kill it in the kitchen so I made a bagel with PB & banana before I was even awake. There were also 3 clemetines involved.

Second breakfast with toast (unpictured):

Lunch: Ha! I just realized I didn’t take a picture of lunch. That was a mistake that we’ll blame on the hunger monster.

Snacks included: cashews, a Quest Bar and the delicious protein smoothie below.

Dinner: This manager’s special stir-fry mix saved the day! I cooked this up with a Quorn veggie burger.

I threw in a handful of chopped nuts and tons of Sriracha. Amazing!!

Protein Smoothie without Protein Powder

Since I woke up at 4:30am yesterday and ran a ton I am more tired than usual today. And since I’m trying to maintain meatless Monday I need to make sure I am getting a good amount of protein to keep me full.

Luckily, part of my partnership with Egg Whites is to try one of their protein smoothies with eggs whites in ‘em. I haven’t put eggs in a smoothie before so I was intrigued.

I decided to test the Mocha Cappuccino Protein Smoothie for the extra caffeine boost bonus!

Yes. This was delicious and helped fuel me through my last hour of work. It was exactly what I needed.

I read that Sylvester Stallone has only ever drank raw egg once, and that was in front of the camera for Rocky. His outlook would be the same as mine… if you are going to eat egg, you might as well just cook it and make it taste nice…

I haven’t tried egg whites in a smoothie before – peaches are one of my favorite things to put in smoothies.

This is a really interesting idea. You didn’t taste it at all? I put eggs or egg whites in my oats sometimes for savory oats!

Isn’t it bad to eat raw egg whites?? Do they process them somehow to make them okay? So no, I haven’t tried egg whites in a smoothie before. But I know there are some that are processed so you can. My favorite ingredient is peanut butter. Doesn’t it make everything better? I just can’t get into the Almond butter. ICK

Consuming raw eggs whites can lead to a biotin deficiency if done on regular basis so it’s not something that should be recommended! The protein in the uncooked eggs whites binds with biotin which prevent it’s absorption which becomes dangerous over time.

Hi Monica! Nope, never tried egg whites in my smoothie. It seems weird not to cook them, right? Maybe I will give it a go one day.

I put egg whites in my smoothie all the time! Makes it frothy. My boyfriend thinks it’s gross. I just tell him he’s gross and that’s the end of that.

Looks good – but I don’t know if I could drink egg whites in a smoothie – even if they are blended! I love adding peanut butter in my smoothies!

That looks delish. Fun fact, to make a raspberry martini even better add a splash of egg whites to it (When I worked at Bonefish Grill they did this. The raspberry martini was AMAZING.)

I’ve never put egg whites in a smoothie. My husband was doing it the other day and for some reason it grosses me out.

YUM!! I put eggwhites in smoothies all the time, I just find you need to up the ante with fruit to make sure you get rid of any residual slimy texture.

I am travelling this week and Quest bars have been my saving grace. I have eaten way too many though!! =P

Yes! I use that same brand of egg whites all the time in my smoothies! I can’t taste them at all. I use this brand because they are pasteurized (or something) so all the icky bacteria is killed. I would never use regular raw egg whites for fear of Salmonella.

I’ve never tried liquid egg whites. I always separate my own. Need to try them, this would be more convenient.

Yes! I’ve used whole eggs or just egg whites, depending on what type of smoothie I’m making. When I’m rungry, I’ll hard boil a bunch of eggs and eat the whites. Really filling, yet hardly any calories.

My husband puts eggs in his smoothie. He says he can’t taste it. I put an egg in my porridge sometimes if I want some extra protein. It just makes it more custardy.

I love a smoothie with dates. It totally takes a smoothie to the next level.

Never added egg whites because I enjoy the whole egg myself, but I usually add in an egg. I don’t have very discriminating taste buds so I can’t taste it. Sometimes I add oatmeal and eggs in cause, you know, breakfast in a glass.

I would never think of putting egg whites in a smoothie but that sounds like a great idea! They’re pretty innocuous tasting, so as long as there’s other flavors in there it seems like a good way to get some extra protein!

I have never put egg whites in a smoothie… BUT they are the secret ingredient in my mom’s famous margaritas, so I know they help out a lot in the frothiness department. Ha!

I did try egg whites in a smoothie once and then I proceeded to throw it out. It was way too much for my taste buds. Favorite smoothie ingredient, frozen watermelon! It’s the best.
