Fifteen Miles and Banana Pancakes

11 Feb

Hello! I set my alarm for an early 15 mile run. Ben and I had breakfast plans and I needed to be done before 9am. I usually set my alarm to “beat the heat” for summer long runs, but let myself sleep in during winter.

Well, today I was out the door before 6am. Armed with Nuun and Gu <- I always say “Nune of your business” when I’m mixing this…

Things I have in my car today – water bottle, sweat towel (to sit on), jump rope and a blueberry.

IMG_5974 (800x600)

Ooh, I’m feeling hungry good thing I brought a snack!IMG_5977 (800x600)

It’s been a week since I bought blubes and it’s just been riding around with me this whole time. Good thing no one sat on it.  See, there’s a perk to not having friends!

15 Miles – done. It wasn’t the easiest run, I really wanted to cut it short around mile 11 but I kept chugging along even if it was slow.

It’s pretty gloomy and drizzly, but I was still too hot in a long sleeve. I was super sweaty, but didn’t have time to shower so I changed out of my sports bras and shirt and headed straight to breakfast. I HATE wearing a sweaty sports bra after I am done exercising and have to get it off before I do anything else (if I can’t shower immediately).

run #1

We went to Mimi’s Café for breakfast. The last time Ben and I went here was after the Fontana Half Marathon. Those were some epic Lemon Poppy Pancakes, but they’re seasonal and don’t have them now.

IMG_6002 (800x600)

I started with coffee that paled in comparison to Jen’s cappuccino.

IMG_5985 (800x600)

I ordered the fitness omelet to be healthy. mimi's fitness omlete

And I ordered the seasonal Banana Chocolate Chip Pancakes to be happy. mimi's banana chocolate chip pancakes

Actually Ben and I shared these because I wanted to taste them, but wasn’t all about ordering this straight up. I’m lucky because he dominated them but I still got to satisfy the craving.IMG_5995 (800x600)

My meal also came with wheat toast that I ate 1 piece of just because it was there. Shoulda asked them to hold it. If they bring it, I will eat it.chocolate chip pancakes

And I had three cups of coffee – I am going to be buzzing all morning but it tasted so good with cream (I never have any at home).IMG_5999 (800x600)

Our breakfast dates were Dan and Jen who live in New York. Dan and Ben went to college together.

dan and jenThey are originally from Orange County and got married here in June, remember?

A little wedding flashback because I love looking and gorgeous girls in wedding dresses Smile IMG_5400 (532x800)

Have a happy Saturday!

I can’t even just change my bra after exercising. I HAVE to shower right away, even if I’m starving. I can’t stand just sitting around all sweaty. It’s also why I hate the rain if I can’t get home and change. I would last about two seconds on a deserted island.

My sports bra is always the first thing to go when I get in from a long run, too! As soon as I change it and put on a clean shirt, I feel like a new woman!

I loooove Mimi’s, too! There’s one by my parent’s house and it was our go-to brunch place when I was growing up. Idk if yours does this, but mine always gives away the most amazing banana bread & coffee for free while you’re waiting for a table. We always fill up on that & take home half off our actual meals… 😛

15 miles before breakfast! That’s pretty hardcore- I wouldn’t feel bad about eating a couple extra pieces of toast 🙂

Great job pounding through the mileage. This morning I really wanted to stop at 9 and walk the mile home but Bo convinced me to keep going. Clearly he’s a smart one.

      Your friends dress was gorgeous!!

I love having just a bite of something I’m really craving without having to eat a whole plate of something unhealthy. More restaurants should offer tasting plates, where you can order 3 or 4 tiny portions of different meals. Sure it would be more work on the chef, but I would pay extra to order whatever I wanted!

If extra food comes with my meal, even if I’m no longer hungry, I will eat it. It must be an instinctual trait that forces me to grab food just in case I wont encounter food for the rest of the day!?! haha

Congrats on the 15 miler 🙂

Good job on your 15 miles. I did 15 yesterday and felt the same-slow and chugging along. But, it had to be done. My Mom and I love MiMi’s too!
