I am loving this warm weather! I especially love eating my favorite summer spring foods on these sunny days 🙂 I usually call these foods summer foods, but yesterday was the first day of Spring, so I’m a little early for that!
This morning Ben and I took a walk. Sundays are usually a rest day for me since I plan long runs for Saturdays. Even though I haven’t been running long, my only exercise on Sundays is walking – I love it this way.
I wore my Fitbloggin shirt on the walk! This shirt is made by Thrive and is made with cotton and bamboo. The shirt doesn’t look like my normal tech running shirts, but a rep at the conference encouraged us to also try and wear the shirt for a sweat session saying it holds up well. Let me (aka sweaty McGee) be the judge of that.
In addition to an amazing fruit salad – Ben and I hit up the frozen yogurt stand at the mall today. I love frozen yogurt more than you. Trust me.
SPRING FOODS = FRUIT AND ICE CREAM=HAPPY MONICA!!!
My breakfast was influenced by Ben. He was making a big egg scramble for breakie and I made one too. I love getting a veggie serving outta the way at breakfast 🙂
Breakfast dessert? Now I am getting out of control! But – bread like this is best when eaten fresh, so I figured it was only right to finish it off.
Edited to add: Last night I partook in some “adult beverages” with Ben. It was good times of course, but I did end up buzzed munching a bit.

As promised here is some of the information I picked up at Fitbloggin. The breakout sessions were all informative and gave attendees time to ask questions.
I am a bullets points person in that I just want the highlights, so that’s how I’m laying this out. I’m not an expert, but if you have questions feel free to say it in the comments and hopefully someone can answer you back if I don’t know:)
Blogs, Accessibility and SEO: Dispelling the Myths.
- Make sure your titles are relevant and use key words. (Example of what not to do = Title your post “I’m back bitches” or various other titles I’ve actually used in the past.)
- Title your images. (Some of these we know, but just don’t do!)
- Use alternate text in images as that is how people with disabilities may “view” your pics.
- Check how your pages looks in different search engines
- Write Fantastic Content 🙂
Beyond the Blog: Getting Published
- Make sure you have an interesting, unique and new concept. Agents get tons of proposals each week – how is yours special?
- Get mentioned in other media
- Build a fan base (pages hits help)
- “You need to bring a lot to the table.” Agents want to know how you can help publicize and promote the books too.
Then, once you are ready to write a proposal and shop it to agents – be prepared for a lot of rejection. But, if you really believe in your book and idea stick with it and stay positive 🙂

I am babysitting tonight and packed dinner and snacks. I packed a BIG SALAD with tons of beans, veggies and hummus, PB&J on a sandwich thin and yogurt.
Since I had such a great experience at Fitbloggin I really want to go to other blogger conferences! It was great to meet people I feel are my friends even if they don’t know it 🙂
Fun Question: What blogger do you most want to meet? Why?
I actually have been wanting to meet Roni of Roni’s Weigh for years. She was one of the first blogs I ever started reading and she has really be an inspiration and positive example. I love how she is real in her posts and admits to bad days as well as good.
Roni put Fitbloggin together with the help of other bloggers and few really supportive companies. She deserves a huge pat on the back for the conference and her great blog 🙂
Oh my gosh- so many bloggers I want to meet! Depends on the situation though:
~I’d love to hang with you & Ben- you guys seem so playful with each other and seem to have a lot of fun. A double date would be good times.
~Rachel from Shedding It, cause she is freakin hilarious!
~ Banlanced Foodie, Emily Eats Clean, Foodie Stays Fit, Girl Meets Health, How Sweet, Whit’s Getting Fit, and so many more…
~Christie http://rollerkoesterrun.wordpress.com/
I would love to meet Jenna from Eat, Live, Run. Her blog is the first health/fitness blog that I read and followed. She seems like such a free spirit!
How did the shirt hold up?
I want to meet youuuuuuu 🙂
Actually, the reason you like Roni’s blog is one of the reasons I like yours. You are very honest about the random eating and the bad days which I think more people can relate to than the perfect, 3 balanced meals a day with one snack.
The fruit looks great. i can’t wait for warmer weather!
What a fun question! I would love to meet the Fitnessista! I want to go shopping with her! I also want to meet Meghann from Inner Workings…she seems like such a sweet person 🙂 Also those are two of the blogs I first started reading when I lost weight.
I was so glad I got to meet you if just for a moment this weekend! You are so sweet and of course just as lovely in person as you are on your blog!
hmm… i believe there’s this chick named Monica who writes a pretty fun blog that I REALLY want to meet 🙂
I met Roni and Carla over the summer at BlogHer and I LOVED them!
These are fantastic tips — thanks for sharing! I never title my photos but it’s really worth taking the extra few seconds to do. I’d love to meet ANY other bloggers. I can’t believe I missed out on FitBloggin’!
mmm you have inspired me to get fro-yo at some point tomorrow
ps. you are a BABE. just sayin.
Those are fun/interesting tips!
I’m pretty excited about spring foods too!!
I think you’d be a pretty fun blogger to meet 🙂 Maybe someday?
gosh i want to meet so many bloggers! i read each blog for different reasons so i guess it would depend on my mood on a given day which person i’d want to meet. (yes totally a cop-out answer haha!)
but currently i’d want to meet sarah from the shu box because i basically want to do what she’s doing now career wise and it would be awesome to pick her brain!
and ice cream = year round treat. don’t try to tell me otherwise 😉
I love the ice cream, and the blogging tips! I feel like I’ve heard SEO so much in just two days, I don’t know what to do with it, haha.
I really want to meet Caitlin of HTP. She just seems like a fun person 🙂
I just met Caitlin, and consider myself meeting her pretty awesome! And I’m going to meet Gina soon! Meeting you would be great! Meeting any blogger would be:)
