Frozen Lunch – Pumpkin Squash Ravioli

I had a frozen meal that caught my eye the other day waiting at work for lunch. So this morning I just had to pack a salad and fruit to go along with it (and my snacks for later of course). The thing that caught my eye was “Pumpkin” in the name. This is Pumpkin Squash Ravioli from Healthy Choice. It has 300 calories, 6g fiber and 9g protein. IMG_1716

This is what it actually looks like – not as appetizing as the box picture. It was so-so, mostly tasted like Butternut Squash Ravioli. The filling was a little gel-like and the ravioli chewy (I actually liked the  chewy part, but I’m weird). I probably wouldn’t get it again. And now that I am done with it, I don’t feel full at all. A 300 calorie sandwich or bowl of soup would have filled me up better. IMG_1718

The frozen meal is a part of this complete lunch…IMG_1717

Health News…

My fave race distance is the Half Marathon. Here are the 13 biggest half-ers in the US.

Have you heard that Wii is coming out with an exercise bike? It’s going to be pricey, so this article suggests you gran an old exercise bike and play Wii at the same time instead 🙂

Michael Pollen asked people for their advice on eating well recently, and chose his top 20 faves. This quote is my favorite:

“After spending some time working with people with eating disorders , I came up with this rule: ‘Don’t create arbirary rules for eating if their only purpose is to help you feel in control.’I try to eat healthfully, but if there’s a choice between eating ice cream and spending all day obsessing about eating ice cream , I’m going to eat the ice cream!” – Laura Usher

I can never get full with just those meals – not enough volume. Glad to see you added some good sides to go with it!

I just ran my first half marathon this weekend! I’m pretty sure it was my favorite distance too.

Also, if there was an option to click “Like” on blogs, I’d definitely click it about the sock gloves. lol.

I love a good chewy ravioli, but 300 calories sounds like it would never be enough. Italian food cannot be portioned.

Yes, I loved that quote! I’ve struggled with it in the past, and it’s so freeing to just eat what you want… in moderation of course 😉

Those frozen meals NEVER fill me up. I have had butternut squash ravioli, but never the pumpkin.

I like the chewy part of pasta frozen meals too. I used to eat frozen meals a lot in college so I know exactly what you’re talking about 🙂

I like that quote, but I don’t think it’s that easy for someone with an eating disorder to just tell themselves that and eat the ice cream. I like how she thinks though!
