When we last spoke I was at the airport headed away from Sunny SoCal to cold but friendly Minneapolis!

Snacks on a plane!!

I packed a salad in a gallon sized plastic bag. I’d share a picture but it looks gross and am not in the mood to relive ‘the girl who ate a salad from a plastic bag on a plane’ looks.

And after some super productive time on a plane (I cannot live without wifi on a plane) I arrived in Minneapolis!

I went looking for dinner, but everything I walked by (in the Sky Link tunnel thing) was closed. A Chinese restaurant I walked into actually closed as I was walking in. Boo.

So, I ordered room service. I feel so fancy when I do that!!

And you know I brought dessert a la some Quest bars and I ate two of them. Love it.
I’m in Minneapolis to visit General Mills – the company, not the actual General unless he’s in town! They heard that I LOVE cereal and I love mills so the team invited me to a cereal eating contest*.
I’ve been training for this my whole life!!

I’m super excited and already sporting my Cheerios bee sweater they left for me.

See ya in a bit!

*Okay they don’t know about the cereal eating contest yet – but it’s on and I’m going to win.
I’ve only been to the airport in Minneapolis, and I haven’t been to Mall of America… But I heard it’s huge!
Minneapolis is a great city, I hope you had a good time – obv still trying to catch up over here
My first job out of college was with General Mills. What an awesome company! I went to Minneapolis for training….. In the summer. Nice city.
So fun! It’s pretty chilly here, 30s dropping to 7 overnight, yikes!
Welcome to Minnesota! Hope you enjoy it here, even though it is quite chilly. Too bad you couldn’t have been able to come during one of our many ‘thawing’ periods we’ve had over the winter.
Mall of America is fun, but can be overwhelming, unless you are a huge fan of shopping 🙂 There’s a lot to do and take in.
Stay Warm!
That salad looks delicious!
I interviewed with General Mills and almost worked with them straight out of college – great company!
I love Honey Nut Cheerios – talk about ultimate comfort food when paired with a banana. 🙂
It’s about -2 today…an improvement from the -10 from yesterday! ( These numbers are not including the wind chill. )
Welcome to Minn. I live about 2 miles from the MOA! My aunt just retired from General Mills too. Great company. Sad it will be in single digits or colder the whole time you’re here. So find a good treadmill or something. I’ve so done the salad in a bag too. You gotta do what you gotta do!
Welcome to Minnesota. I live like 10 mins away from General Mills. I’m actually getting out of this cold weather and heading to San Franscico tomorrow! Enjoy Minnesota and General Mills. My friend use to work there!
I surprisingly have been there! My friend used to play football for the Vikings and he flew us over there for a weeknd game. It was AMAZING!! Got to meet Adrian Peterson and a whole bunch of my football favorites. We partied like rock stars!!
Let us know if you need recommendations for any place in MN! I live, like, 5 minutes away from General Mills headquarters. Culver’s is a nice fast food splurge that’s a Midwestern landmark and a stone’s throw from there.
Loving your bee shirt! Too cute! I have never been to the mall of America…I was only in Minneapolis for a quick layover and you could smell the barley and hops in the airport from all of the surrounding brewing companies! Enjoy and stay warm. I think it is 3 degrees today here which is an improvement since it was in the negatives yesterday!
The temps here are actually warm for Chicago and when I just checked it is 21 degrees. Tomorrow is a high of 10 and Thurs the high is 1 so I am glad I will be enjoying sunny CA for a few days!
Im excited to read about your trip and drool over cereal. Well, not actually drool bc that would ruin it.
Want the BEE jacket!!!
Never been to MN
Never been to Mall of America (I’d get lost for sure…)
It’s sunny and 75 here in SoCal today! 🙂
Enjoy! I live in Boston, we have a record-setting 7 feet of snow on the ground (no, not exaggerating) and today it’s a balmy 10 degrees. Yesterday it was 1 degree with a wind chill of -35. It’s unreal and stupid. Lol – have fun!
Never been to Minn. or the MoA.
It’s in the low 20s here in New York City. We got about 4-6 inches of snow in the suburbs. The city itself is just gray slush. =)
Sometimes room service is a deal. I remember in New Orleans getting it at the W hotel after I ran a half marathon. It wasn’t really that pricy. =) And SOOOO convenient
Temps here are in the 20s – and plummeting this week. VERY odd for North Carolina!
Never been there! And I’ve also never eaten salad out of a bag. Nice work! 🙂
i’ve never been to minneapolis. look forward to hearing about your trip!
I’ve never been to Minneapolis, because it’s mostly cold, and it’s 74 degrees here today in Florida so there’s that.
The mall of America would be fun though.
Took the family to the Twin Cities last summer (why would you go in the winter…..WHYYYYY!!!)
Mall of America (and aquarium), couple of Zoos, children’s museum, science museum…lots of fun stuff.
I’m about 7 hours southeast of Minneapolis though, so it’s a balmy 19 degrees today here.
Wish we had some more mild temps for you while you’re here so you could check out running around the Lakes (part of the Twin Cities Marathon route)! Summer and fall are awesome here!
YES! I currently live here (and have for the past 21 years) and go to medical school here!!!!
Mall of America is super fun, so go if you have the chance!
There are so many more fun things to do in the summer-so come back again when its warm!
Minneapolis is great! If it were warmer, I would fully recommend running around Lake of the Isles/Lake Calhoun/Lake Harriet; however, I am sticking to treadmill workouts this week since it is bitterly cold. Fantastic breakfast can be found at French Meadow. Have a good visit with GM!
Yes, have been to Mpls and the MOA. I’m about 4 hours north of you at the moment, so our temps are hovering around the -5 mark. Hoping that it warms up soon! Tell General Mills that next time, you’d prefer to visit in the summer!
So cool that you get to go to general mills! I can’t wait to hear about all the stuff you get to do!
I used to live in St. Paul! I love it there and miss it, but seriously bad timing on your part. Ouch! It’s going to be cold.
i don’t think i’ve been to Minny, except maybe to change planes years ago…but i remember when my brother was in a band and they went on tour, he raved about how cool the city was and how it had such a young, vibrant, hip art scene…so it’s def a place i’d like to check out. hope you have fun!
Welcome to minneapolis. You have to go to MOA. I think you could do some real damage there. Enjoy your stay. Stay warm.
Aw, it’s too bad they were just closing…next time bring your own dinner You know?
Welcome to MN! I have lived here my whole life – and man – is it freezing right now! The Mall of America is fun…and big…and an insane place to visit! It is good you are here during the week because it is a lot easier to navigate them as compared to the weekend!
I always wanted to go to the Mall of America! It’s snowing and super cold here in NY right now…it might as well be Minnesota with the weather we have these days.
While I live about 6 hours away from Minn, we vacation there in the summer. The mall was much cooler about 10ish years ago, it has lost some of the unique stores and is now more of a huge mall. I also liked the amusement park more when it was Camp Snoopy Theme instead of Nickelodeon. BUT enjoy your time there…ummm sorta bad timing for your SoCal self. 🙂
I didn’t know General Mills was in Minneapolis! Have a great time!
Welcome to Minneapolis!! I live here and it is a wonderful place! Maybe I’ll see you wandering the skyways in downtown
I love the occasional room service meal– I feel like a Queen!
