Home is where the running route is

My Life

28 Jul

Hello! I am home! Yesterday was a long day of travel. That’s the bad thing about cross county flights, it takes all day and then you’re all confused by the time change. Where am I? What time is it? What should I be doing next?

driving to airport (450x800) going back to cali (800x450)

This morning I did a short run around one of my favorite routes. It’s good to be back.

But my kitchen needs some help because there is not much in there. Luckily, I always have oatmeal and PB. I tried those instant packets of Steel Cut oatmeal and love ‘em!

Lunch was kind of sad, but I’ll make up for it at dinner (and Costco samples).

back to healthy salads and vodka (800x450)

Now Vegas and I are catching up on work and stuff around here.

Question: On a scale of 1 to 10, how awesome was your lunch?

I am a runner myself and adore oatmeal with a dollop of peanut butter for breakfast to give me energy to train. My lunch today was a solid 7. Spinach salad with avocado, red bell peppers, lemon and olive oil and walnuts for some protein and crunch. 🙂

Lunch today was very sad… I mixed this kielbasa broccoli dish (which is good on its own), black beans and quinoa. So it was a “throw everything together” kinda lunch. so I give it a 1!!

I work as a nanny and I didn’t have time to pack my lunch yesterday, so it consisted of some goldfish and a white-bread-and-kraft-singles sandwich. I rate that at a solid 9.3!

Also, I’ve JUST discovered putting peanut butter in oatmeal.

How did it take me so long?!

    It’s a revelation.

Home is most definitely where the running route is! It still surprises me how much I miss my regular plod around familiar territory whenever I’m away for too long!

My lunch was epic. I went for a lunchtime slow run around the Thames here in London, which meant by the time I got back I was feeling super proud and I ate ALL THE THINGS. 😀

Home is always good! My lunch was about a 5. I had a really good apple, the salad was sub-par but the feta cheese on the salad was about a 10!

Monica, I just got back from the same Alaska cruise you did- loved it! I ran in skagway but had to stick to the treadmill most days. How did you combat post-cruise depression?! I want to go back!

Lunch, in my case, was brunch and it was a 10! I had raspberry walnut pancakes and the batter was primarily pureed raspberries. SO good!

My lunch was probably an 8. toasted turkey sandwich with cheese and strawberries on the side. Deeeelish! I used to belong to costco and definitely miss being able to go and make entire meals out of the samples… and their $2 gigantic cup of froyo. SO GOOD.

Lunch was a solid 9 today. Cream cheese and pickle sandwich on sourdough bread and an arugula side salad. We just moved to a new city and the temptation to reinstate our Costco membership has been very strong. Maybe I should add in “samples there” as one more reason to do it…
