I just received a new StitchFix delivery and I’m super excited to pretend to be a fashion blogger for a minute. Per usual I did everything wrong with this attempt to be cool since I broke all the rules of fashion blogging:
Rules of Fashion Blogging:
Rule 1. Take pictures somewhere outside, preferably on a cool street with brick wall background.
Me: In front of my door at home.
Thora Lace & Faux Leather Top – I didn’t like this top at first because leather accents are not really my style. But I like how this photographed! Still, it’s not me so I’m sending back. (The accents are on the shoulders and around the arms.)
Rule 2. Make sure you have good lighting.
Me: Pretty sure one of the three lights on my ceiling fan is out and the lighting is tragic, but it works.
Felton Mixed Material Top – I’m not a black top girl (although I should be because I can’t go one meal without dropping something on myself).
Rule 3. Pretend to find a penny on the ground.
Me: “What the heck is this part sticking out…”
“Oh well, raise it up…”
Rule 4. Change your hair and make-up to keep it fresh.
Me: Nah, I’m just taking these pics on the one day of the week I’m wearing make-up and brushed my hair…
Roxanna Cable Knit Hooded Sweater – Super comfy! And it has a hood so you can put it up when you see someone in public you’re trying to avoid.
Rule 5. Accessorize to compliment the outfit.
Me: Is this a headband or what?
Paddy Bird Printed Wrap Dress – Wrap dresses are super flattering but I don’t like this one. It’s too summery and office-y and not me-y.
Check out StitchFix to get clothes delivered to your door!
Question: (In a creepy voice) What are you wearing right now?
Lizzy says
My last Stitch Fix had a bunch of faux leather accents too. Ew! No thank you… they all went back.
Autumn says
Lots of cute pics! I feel ya on failing at fashion blogging… mostly I don’t because it stresses me out.
Ashlie says
Monica! Normally I would NEVER comment on another woman’s attire, as I do not understand fashion AT ALL. And I am all for doing what makes a person comfortable, but I had to stop by and say, keep that lace top! It looks damn fine on you! So, ya know, if you don’t want to keep it for yourself, keep it for me – stranger from the internet. =)
Livi @ Eat, Pray, Work It Out says
haha love your fashion posts! real and down to earth!
Nikki @ will run for pizza says
I’m at work. So workout clothes aren’t an option right now. Which is NOT a good time. But at least it’s Friday which means it’s jeans day. I love the hooded sweater and the lace/leather top! My first stitchfix should be on my door when I get home from work today! YAY! I hope I like SOMETHING out of it.
Melisa says
Keep the lace top. it looked great on you. Send back everything else.
runeatrepeat says
Thanks!
Cotille says
You are hilarious! This made me laugh so hard. 😀
Lea J. says
I got a fix yesterday and loved everything about it. It’s probably the first one I’ve gotten where I genuinely wish I could have kept all the pieces, but they sent a coat that was just a smiiiidge too small and also… $$$$$.
Did you keep anything from yours? I probably would keep the first top.
runeatrepeat says
I do like the first top, but I just feel like I won’t wear it because it’s not my style. What did you keep?
Carla says
I am sooo gonna try this before our book release and pretend to me it matters what i look like.
come over and help me pick?
YOU KNOW YOU WANNA 🙂
please please?
runeatrepeat says
You know I am down for that 🙂
Ashley @ Kickashmom says
Oh i love the lace top. And the sweater. Those look really good on you!
Katie | Healthy Seasonal Recipes says
Aww, I gave up on my stitchfix, because there were too many not me-y items every month. But that little hooded sweater is so cute, and it looks great on you girl!
Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki says
Haha, this is my kind of fashion post!
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner says
It seems like you have been returning a lot of your stuff. Would you still recommend? It sounds like they aren’t really getting the stuff you would like.
runeatrepeat says
Yeah, I wasn’t super happy with this ‘fix. I did really like my last one, but I’m not going to keep anything I don’t totally love so I do end up sending back a lot of stuff. I am still happy to keep just one or two items from each delivery because when I go out shopping I usually just buy one or two things at a time anyway. I’d recommend for someone who is big on pinterest because they have a lot to show their stylist on what they love.
jaime says
As a husband what’s the best way to give this as a Xmas gift?
Lea J. says
You can go on their website and order a gift card! I’ve gotten them before for my birthday.
jaime says
Is it like a monthly subscription? One flat amount and you get 5 items? Or you just get clothes and then you have to pay for those you keep?
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
Good choice on the sweater. I’m wearing pajamas. It’s 1:30am and I am in bed but have a bit of insomnia. I was just looking at airfare from NYC to john Wayne because my boyfriend has to go to Huntington Beach for business the first week of the year and I was thinking of surprising him so we could spend some time on the left coast as a couple. 🙂 unfortunately the prices were upwards of $1,000. 🙁
Sue says
Only the first one look good…the rest aren’t really you.
Jill @ Champagne for Everyday says
Hahah, I love this post!! Work those shots in front of the door. I think the pics are cute 🙂

Cheri @ Overactive Blogger says
I’m wearing a hoodie that my brother left at my house. So comfy. I’m not giving it back. ::evil laugh::
Christine @ BookishlyB says
I love that hooded sweater too, but if it was me I think I’d want it to be a few inches longer. I hate short sweaters for some reason.
Right now I’m wearing my Surf City volunteer shirt from last year (which reminds me, I should be probably start running again if I plan to run it in February…)
runeatrepeat says
Run run run lil bear 🙂
Carrie (This Fit Chick) says
I LOVe that hooded sweater!!
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan says
The first top is cute, though I don’t know if I would wear it either.
I’m in pajamas and a race tee, comfort is key 😉
Angela @ HonestlyAngela says
I don’t mind the first two tops, but I don’t love them. The sweater looks cozy and cute.
I am wearing heather grey leggings and a baggy green sweat shirt. Stay at home moms don’t have to wear real clothes ☺ or so I tell myself.
Tricia @ A Couple of Dashes says
I love that sweater! You have much better luck with stitch fix than I did. I tried it and hated everything they sent me.
runeatrepeat says
Boo, that’s frustrating.
Christa says
Love the sweater. I’m wearing super old, stretched out, faded old navy yoga pants, and a pink Making Strides Against Breast Cancer tshirt, its 930 and I’m ready for bed.
Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola says
I really love that cable hooded sweater
Charlotte says
Good choice. I like the hooded sweater.
Coco says
Cute! That first top does look good, but I understand your feeling about the leather “accents”
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
Workout clothes. Always workout clothes. All day.
I really like that first shirt!!
melissa says
wait so… what did you keep?
runeatrepeat says
I think I’m just keeping the white hooded sweater. (I was considering keeping something else as a gift but I can’t decided if it’d fit my friend.)
Ashley @ A Lady Goes WAest says
Workout clothes of course! Your hair is just so pretty. 🙂
