Mid-morning I got hungry and had too many cherries while making calls and organizing my schedule.
I had a meeting at work right at noon and knew I couldn’t wait till after for lunch. So, I just made it early which worked out perfectly
I LOVE hummus, but guacamole on sandwiches rocks my socks flip flops.
After my meeting at work I ended up doing the Women’s Health “Last Ten Pounds” exercise session instead of KB. This worked out better with my schedule and I’ve been wanting to try this workout!
I ran a quick errand to Target for new running sunglasses before heading home. I broke mine in Maryland. #Fail
When I got home from all of the above I was HUNGRY. It was early for my afternoon snack, but I grabbed a Vitatop with PB smeared on it.
But that didn’t do shat work. Long story short – I ate ridic amounts of cereal and granola.
I know Albert Einstein’s quote, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
Well friends, I’m insane. (But, you’re reading the blog of a crazy person, so we both have problems.)
I continually say write that snacking is my worst habit and I said I was going to plan my snacks for the week during Sunday Set Up, but I didn’t end up planning snacks. And I f-ed up big time.
Lesson learned, I’m not going to let this happen again or you can lock me up with Hugo. (source)
I promise (myself) to plan out my snacks each day for the next 27 days (I have a journal I’m using for 28 days for work today was the first day I’ve used it). I might not blog my snack (as I often don’t now), but I’m committing to this right now so I don’t get committed 😉
Now if only my hair was actually clean and brushed today this cartoon might have made me feel better…

I will never understand when i continue to do the same thing that end up upsetting me. Like today with my lunch pig out. Learning.
I’m gonna do a post on Catalina marathon with some photos in the next few days so check it out.

I sometimes overeat too, but like you, it’s usually healthy stuff! (cereal and milk, nuts and dried fruit, even veggies!)
It’s important to remember that even when you “mess up” and overeat, you have a balanced diet and an amazing outlook on life! I always remind myself that living my life with positive energy is wayyyy more important than what I eat

Everyone has days where they didn’t meet their goals / practice healthy habits. The best thing you can do is acknowledge it and move on. I find that I sometimes dwell on my unhealthy choices and it leads to more unhealthy choices because I put myself in a bad mood!

Darn snacks! Actually, I was snacking when I read your post. Geez, always gets me in trouble. Love your cartoon at the end.

Hi Monica! Thanks for the tip regarding guacamole on sandwiches. I’ll have to work this into a sandwich soon.
Your overall lifestyle is healthy and that is what matters most. We all have days where we eat more than we would have liked or planned for but there is always tomorrow!

Thanks Kristy 🙂

Loving your blog, as always!
I have a couple comments about this post!
1. I noticed you said it was “early” for your afternoon snack. Do you think maybe by not scheduling your snacks, it would remove the anxiety that leads to overeating? I know that I, personally, tend to have ‘bad’ experiences/emotions/habits when I feel like I am panicked about food, or I think I’m hungry when I shouldn’t be, or whatever. Like if I eat breakfast at 7am and want lunch at 10am, I get super anxious and nervous and think I’ve ruined the whole day, etc. I’m not quite at the point where I can trust myself enough to say “Okay, if I’m truly hungry for lunch at 10am then that’s okay, and instead of worrying NOW about being hungry LATER, I will wait until later comes”, but I’m trying. Anyway, is this something you purposely schedule (afternoon snack), or how does that work for you?
2. I think you should commit to planning out one day of snacks. And then another day, etc. There is NO need for you to plan a month of snacks! Obviously you know best if this is the right method for you, but it seems like it will cause unnecessary stress. Imagine one of your running group members said that they were stressed about not being good enough at running and said they were going to plan how far they will run for the next 28 days…wouldn’t you tell them to take it one day/run at a time?
Just some thoughts 🙂

Love this.

Thanks for chiming in D 🙂 You have some really wise words. But, here are my thoughts…
Regarding #1 – it’s not that I have specific times for snacks per se, it’s that I kinda need to have a substantial snack between 3-4pm because I work from 5pm-7pm and get home around 7:45pm beyond hungry if I don’t. So, my concern was having an early snack and being crazy by 6pm in the middle of my running group.
Regarding #2 – I plan out 16 weeks of training for a marathon, so that analogy doesn’t really work for my brain 🙂 I do take it one day at a time, but I’m setting myself up for failure by not planning it all out at the beginning of the week like I wanted.
Hope that reads okay 🙂 Have a good night.

i’m really trying to focus on sitting down and eating substantial food rather than wandering around the kitchen munching on random veggies & bites of this & that. when i actually succeed at this, i feel much more satisfied. this afternoon was not so great, though! 🙁 even though i’m just munching celery and carrots, it’s still bad b/c i don’t feel nourished & b/c i wasn’t eating for hunger but out of boredom/stress.
win some, lose some.

Perfect timing. I just finished my snack of 1/2 a bagel and was contemplating a cookie (or three) but am going to resist. Expletive, expletive, expletive this is hard!
