Run Eat Repeat

I am seriously covered in…

My Life· What Runners Eat

14 Jun

Hello! Your Monican is reporting live from Florida! I’m covered in bug bites and sweat. But the food has been amazing and I’m having fun.

I had my favorite not pizza dinner last night – salmon, broccoli (or brussel sprouts), brown rice (or sweet potato). Write it down in case I come over your house for din. (Please invite me because I’m hungry.)

Let’s talk about all the weekend fun…

First, we put a Thunder Coat on Rufus because he’s super scared of thunderstorms. It’s unfortunate he lives in Florida since that’s not a problem every where in the US. HINT HINT HINT.

This morning I hit the road (with my feet) for another extremely sweaty run. I AM DRIPPING IT’S SOOOO GROSS. Yes, I need to ‘shout’ that because it’s that gross.

I’m also covered in bug bites. Boo.

Post-run refreshments… I ate all the watermelon. Hope no one else wanted some.

post run breakfast (600x800)

After my run I showered and hung out with Jorge (George is what they call him around here) and Ben’s sister.

And in case you’re worried, I’m still eating the weird combos I usually do… salads with eggs and Sriracha.

And massive amounts of fruit.

Now I’m getting ready for the dome party. I’ll explain later.

The good news is there will be champagne!!

Question: What did you do this weekend?

Me: Run, Eat and get bitten by bugs.

I would love to read a post with your tips for running when it’s so humid out now that you have been getting some real experience with it in FL! I have a half in September that I need to be training for, but with this humidity i’m having a hard time just forcing myself to run outside! I know I need to be up at the crack of dawn, but what else can i do?

Yes!!! I was also about to ask this question! I moved to an east coast beach for the summer and I’m terrible at running in the heat! It really slows me down!

I’m a siriacha on the salad girl too. I haven’t tried it with eggs… so I need to do that! George is cute. I love orange cats. They have the best temperaments! Poor you with all those bug bites!!!!

High five! I have also made some experiment with nori and it turned out all cool 🙂 Nori is a good alternative of rice or wheat wraps. Stuffing them fully with nutritious goodies results something awesome.

Yuck, bug bites are the worst.

We were so busy this past weekend I’m glad it’s over. I helped my mom out with her garage sale, deep cleaned the house, went shopping, and had friends over for the Game of Thrones finale!

Mosquitoes LOVE me in MN too…..But, you haven’t experienced an itch until you get covered in bites from “water itch”….the generic term for parasites that live in duck poop and when we swim in the lakes with the said poop the parasites get on US and bite…..I feel its like chicken pox times a million.

I shadowed my personal trainer friend all day long on Saturday and then sat on my butt and ate all the food on Sunday. It was great.

I think I have the same cup as you (the one you had with the watermelons)! It’s giant and really good for drinking gallons and gallons of water during the day at work, haha.

This weekend was amazing for me! I went to the grand opening of this cool skate park / rock climbing / arcade thing, saw Jurassic Park, and just went for a fun 5 mile walk with some friends on a local greenway. Overall I’d say it was a success.

I’m in Alabama so I definitely understand your pain when it comes to humidity and bugs. I would give you advice here but I don’t have any. They are an unbeatable force.

Do you find the thundercoat helps? We have a pup who is terrified of storms and have often wondered whether it’s worth the investment!

I can’t confirm yet. I didn’t put it on him until the day after the big thunderstorm. But I think I’m going to get my dog one for 4th of July.

The mosquito’s are insane here and I swear it’s a year round problem. I feel like I might even get malaria one of these years while hanging my Christmas Decorations.

That romper is really cute. Where is it from?
