I finally caved and bought Chocolate Cheerios. I have picked up the box and put it down 5 times on different shopping trips. I guess 6 times is my limit because today they ended up in my cart (they were on sale too, so that helped).
I was so excited to try these for some reason. Must be the chocolate. Well, they tasted just like Cocoa Puffs, just in a different shape. And for some reason I identify Cheerios with a “healthier” brand because I would only buy Cocoa Puffs if I was for a cheat day, but not for “reals”. Anyways, this is Cocoa Puffs by Cheerios, be aware.
I realized as soon as I had a handful or eight, that these are going to be dangerous!
I had my fill and used them to top my smoothie in a bowl. Then, I advised Ben that I would be throwing them out if he didn’t want to take them to work/out of my sight.
With dinner I also had some asparagus 🙂
This afternoon I was on a mission for fruit. I ended up eating 3 kiwis, half an orange and later some pineapple. I know some people eat the whole kiwi, skin and all; but that can be weird. An easy way to get around that is to slice them up like so…
And bite out the “meat” leaving the rind. Nothing to it.
I have realized that eating fruit alone makes my blood sugar crazy and I can’t stop eating. So I tried to slow that roll with Almond Butter on a thin with a banana.
I have never went through nut butter as fast as I go through TJ’s almond butter! I always swipe some straight from the jar when I’m preparing food. I’m obsessed.
Let me clarify though – I’m obsessed and eat too much sometimes, but don’t binge.
Someone recently asked how I keep myself from binging on Peanut Butter. They said they can’t keep it in the house without binging on it.
I think I don’t do that because I have full permission to eat PB (or AB) whenever I want. I eat it for Breakfast, Snacks and/or Lunch. One of the ways to stop binging on foods is to take the power away from them. This means letting yourself eat them – and not putting any guilt or restrictions on that.
I have given myself full permission to eat all most foods – BUT I have also realized that sugary foods do something to my body/blood sugar that makes me not stop eating them (and still feel hungry afterwards!). I truly think I’m sugar sensitive. Hence the need to avoid the Cheerios where the first two out of four ingredients are sugar.
Blood sugar reactions really shouldn’t happen with things like PB though, so I assume you’re safe.
If you are binging on high fat foods like PB it may be a sign that you’re truly not getting enough calories. I used to binge when I didn’t eat enough during the day.
If you want PB in your life, then go for it. Buy PB, eat it when you want, enjoy it. It tastes good and I think healthy fats are vital for me to feel satisfied at breakfast. I must start the day with nut butter now!
I have many foods in my house that I used to binge on. It wasn’t perfect and I did binge on them one or twice before I realized, “Oh, this is going to be here all the time now? This means I don’t have to eat it all right now…”
But, I don’t want to seem like a hypocrite since I can’t handle Chocolate Cheerios. So, I guess the ultimate answer is – to each their own.
Don’t set yourself up for disaster. But, give yourself more credit too 🙂
You’re okay. I’m okay.
Now I am off to watch Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution while eating a snack. Okay fine, I’m a hypocrite. Wait, I guess that really depends on what snack I choose…

I have been using Acai Berry supplement and it has worked well for me along with diet and exercise. Are you using a diet supplement too?
runeatrepeat says
No I don’t currently use any supplements.

My boss brought in those cheerios and I have to admit they are really good.

Well spoken. I never thought I would agree with this opinion, but I’m starting to see things from a different view. I have to research more on this as it appears quite interesting. One thing I don’t understand though is how everything is related together.

I think you are so right about giving yourself permission and getting rid of guilt. I hear so many people say that when they can’t have something, they want it even more. And then eventually they say screw it and end up eating ten times the amount they would in the first place. My advice to anyone with this problem would be to just let yourself have what you want and trust your body. Or at least try it. Intuitive eating works for a lot of people. Its worth a shot, right?

I like Cocoa Puffs. I’m not ashamed to admit it.
It seems that when I “binge” on pb or almond butter I’m full for hours. Oh, and I love that TJ’s almond butter with flaxseeds; it’s really good!

I did the exact same thing with the chocolate cheerios, picked them up and put them back like 5 times. Luckily I had the opportunity to get a free sample and the grocery store. I definitely wouldn’t have been able to stop munching on those guys. I’m the same way with sugary stuff and fruits, I have to have fats with my carbs or I just end up even hungrier.

I totally feel you on the PB sitch! I give myself full permission to eat lots of PB and Almond Buttah, one caveat: it MUST be 100% natural. If it’s not, it’s a treat that I won’t have daily. When I feel like I ate not so great one night and feel it in the morning, I just fill a TINY tupperware bowl with PB and chop two apples and just eat out of that throughout the day at work instead of having a solid lunch. I never restrict PB! And honestly, doing so really helps me stay on track with eating. If I want a dessert-like health food, ain’t NOTHIN better than PB!

So glad you like the chocolate cheerios! I loveeeeeeeeeee them!
runeatrepeat says
That’s why you put it in milk. Then, it’s not dry 😉

I think you’re so right about binging on fat when there’s not enough in your diet.
Am I the only one who chocolate cheerios don’t appeal to? Cheerios in general seem dry to me; I wouldn’t want dry chocolate
