the pics of my toe nails (or lack thereof) – one of them finally dropped me like a bad habit.

I normally don’t have problems with black toe nails. My recent toe nail tragedy is because of the marathon Feb 2nd – and it barely fell off last Sunday!!! (I do still have that big blue one from my can dropping accident.)

I came across this article about foot injuries on Runner’s World and it said this on black toes nails:

The Warning: Black Toenail

Black toenails, or “runners’ toes,” frequently plague distance runners. A common culprit? Not keeping your toenails closely clipped, says Dr. DeFrancis. If the end of the toenail jams into the shoe, the base of the nail wiggles enough to cause bleeding just below the surface. Shoes that are too tight can also cause the problem; try a half size larger or a higher toebox. The discoloration can also be a warning that you’re running too many downhills, so keep your runs confined to flats.

The black part will grow out or fall off in a few months, but if you’re in pain, a doctor can relieve the swelling by making a small hole in the nail plate.

The moral of the story is I have shoes that are a half a size big, but when you’re running for over 4 hours at a time your nails will go to shit.

This afternoon I had an apple and some trail mix.

At WF earlier I came across this “chocolate chips” that I’ve been wanting to try. I told Ben that I had chocolate chips for us to have before dinner and he thought I was talking about actual chocolate chips that you put in cookies. Ha. Anyways, I really liked them & so did Ben. The addition of saltiness to chocolate is interesting – in  a good way 🙂 dscn7563

dscn7566Dinner was leftovers from yesterday with some spaghetti noodles. The tofu was way too dry though (maybe because I froze it?).dscn7569

Dessert was a little bowl of PB Puffins, some dried cranberries, milk and Barney Butter. dscn7572

Oh, and I almost forgot – I’m sharing this cocktail with Ben 🙂 Isn’t fancy with the pineapple on the rim (ignore the fact that we’re using cheap blue plastic cups)? dscn7574

Ugh, I’ve been waiting for one of my black toenails to fall off for like two months now. GROSS. 🙁

I love the sweet/salty combo, so the chips sound intriguing to me!

Interesting tortilla chips. Never seen them before. It’s amazing just how much chocolate goes well with. Think mole. I know the Aztecs used to drink it without sugar. That sounds awful to me, but I’m sure it’s an acquired taste.

On an unhealthy note, have you ever tried chocolate covered potato chips. Very good, although I think chocolate covered pretzels are better.
