I’m very very very lucky that I work from home on something I love to do. I don’t deserve these blessings so I am super grateful and enjoy it as much as I can. That said, I am alone in a small condo in front of my laptop all day. So when I have a break in tasks in the afternoon I step away from the internet and take a walk.
Since I’m alone all day (well, Vegas is here but hibernates 23 hours a day) I sometimes call a friend or my mom to chat on my walk. It’s one of my favorite things to do – walk and talk! No, I don’t want to run and talk – isn’t running hard enough without having to talk during it?!
Anyway.
Yesterday I was chatting with my best friend, Cindy. By ‘chatting’ I mean we were both venting about difficult situations in our lives right now. We are each trying to navigate very challenging times in our relationships. I feel so much better once I just tell someone what is going on in my head. It’s like therapy but free and less helpful
Although we’re both struggling, our situations are nothing the alike.
So as we were talking Cindy pointed out that “it’s like comparing a**hoIes to oranges!”
Which I thought was hysterical and started laughing like a wild animal while just walking along the public path… I’m sure people passing by thought I was either crazy or was just told the funniest joke of my life.
Except, she didn’t say that.
“What? Why are you laughing? What” she said since she had no idea why I busted up.
Which only made me laugh more when I realized! “Did you say apples to oranges? Because I heard a**hoIes”
HA! Then, we were both laughing as I declared that’s my new favorite phrase. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to use it yet.
I know, this post is super random but I had to share. It has nothing to do with running or eating – I mean you really can’t compare the two. That’s like comparing a**hoIes and oranges…
Nope. Okay, it didn’t work right there… back to the blogging board…

a$$holes to oranges is so funny!
I work from home as well and have been walking the dog a lot and then going for walks and listening to running podcasts. It helps to break up the day. I also try and reserve at least one errand daily so I get to the mall or grocery store or somewhere that I can have a conversation with someone. My boyfriend is a terrible communicator so there isn’t much of a chance of a phonecall with him. I’m lucky if i get a sunshine emoji for “good morning”. I love him but really, this is the biggest pain for someone like me who really needs communication. Sigh!

It’s good that you realize that and don’t take his communication style personally though! You should try What’s App and leave messages for friends.

I’m going to borrow that saying 🙂

i’m sorry you are struggling in your relationship. i think we all have our own issues we carry around, if it makes you feel better. it seems, though, that you’ve been struggling for a while. have you actually gone to therapy? it just seems like it’s been a while to struggle with the same issue. Maybe a therapist would help you to find some clarity.

I’ve been to therapy a little bit lately. But we do need to go together and that’s on the agenda. We need Dr. Phil.

I also work from home right now and I do the same thing when I need a break! Walking and talking to your mom/best girlfriend is the best.
