10 Healthy Waffle Recipes for #NationalWaffleDay

Breakfast

24 Aug

Hi! Happy National Waffle Day! Don’t you kinda love that there are so many random food holidays? I do because then I can justify making waffles on a random Wednesday. I kinda have to eat waffles today, it’s a national holiday!

Truthfully, I want to go to IHOP because I keep seeing commercials for these croissant waffles they just came out with. I don’t even like croissants! But I love waffles and I’m a sucker for anything ‘new’ in the food world.

But I’m not going to go to IHOP alone on a weekday (unless someone wants to come with me?). So, here are 10 healthy waffle recipes to make at home. Oh, and one not-so-healthy one that looked too dreamy to skip!

And if you don’t have a waffle maker or time or the energy to make waffles – I’d kindly suggest you go to IHOP and let me know if those waffles are any good. Thanks.

Or get some chicken and waffles!

*** I had chicken and waffles once – it was in Las Vegas when I was there for RNR Las Vegas Half Marathon. Check out that post for a cameo by Hungry Runner Girl, Skinny Runner and other randomness.

Question: Have you ever had Chicken & Waffles?

What was your breakfast today?

    Never had chicken and waffles.
This morning my breakfast was two sausage patties and a mini honey bun. Not very healthy. Lol

Chicken & Waffles is one of those combinations that sounds strange, but is actually so delicious! I’ve had it for brunch a couple of times!

This morning I had my usual breakfast–egg beater omelet w/veggies & pepper jack cheese, coffee, and three pieces of pre-cooked microwave bacon. Quick, easy, filling…boom!

Oh wow waffles! I haven’t had waffles in years………. I always opt for either pancakes or Eggs Benedict when we go out to eat brunch. I should try to find some really yummy waffles!

I do that too where I eat the same thing for the longest time. It takes a very long while for me to get sick of anything.

I ordered the chicken and waffles from that restaurant while in Las Vegas last year for a conference! I was shocked at how HUGE they were! I ate maybe a quarter of it.
I had Eggo waffles and Nutella for breakfast this morning, which is one of my go-to quicky breakfasts when I’m running late in the mornings. So unbeknownst to me I was actually celebrating National Waffle Day. Hooray!
