My First Yassos

22 Nov

I started my day with my first speed work out ever. Well, I’m not positive ever, but probably. I’ve done Fartleks before after a night of beans, but who hasn’t?

Anyways, I didn’t program my Garmin to do 800m intervals so I just started and stopped my watch every .50miles. It works, kinda. Hey, I never said I was Fancy. I did 4 x 800s – I start off slow unlike some hardcore peeps that do 67 Yassos in one session – I’m talking to you Matt Smile

I don’t know my .50 pace, but I do know that all together the 2 miles I did speedy were 7:24 and 7:42. Close enough.

Breakfast – I finally found the Target Pumpkin Pie yogurt! Yeah! Except it’s totally not as good as my homemade version. Live and learn.

I had the yogurt with a bagel topped with PB&PB and chia seeds. I don’t know why I made iced coffee when I’m freezing…

Now I’m waiting for my bed to be delivered! Finally. I am going to be all fancy like with an actual bed to sleep on. But don’t worry, even when I have a bed to sleep on I will never be too cool to blog.

I almost forgot! It’s time to Mini-Goal my Monday!

My Monday Mini-Goals:

1. Enjoy Thanksgiving, but don’t overdo it to the point where I want to die.

2. Two hard runs, one easy run and 2 days of strength

3. Tea after dinner to unwind. Or wine…

Question: What are your goals for this week?

Not dive into every food that I know my body can’t tolerate. I always miss my favorite foods (too much dairy) and now my newly discovered intolerance (gluten) it should be even more interesting!

As much as I try to understand the Fartlek, I don’t think I will ever really get it.

Ahaha Fartleks! I’m sooo glad to not be the only one who associates that word with farts! Thank you for being the first running-blogger I read to recognize the connection.

My Monday mini-goal is to stay in control of my hormonal rampage. It is seriously bad and I need to pull it together!

After eating Greek yogurt for so long, I find I don’t enjoy the “fun, flavored” yogurts any more….

And this week – with the holidays and all, I know I’m going to slurge…but I’m with family and I just want to have fun. So this week – moderation is key along with working out Thursday and Friday – it’s supposed to be nice, so I’m going to get outside and just MOVE!

I’ve never done speedwork outside. It seems so tricky! When I use the treadmill, I do intervals and stuff, but I really want to add speedwork to my next training cycle. Nice job, speedy!

I think you said it perfectly. I always have a hard time enjoying food related holidays without going overboard. Like last year, I felt like I was about to explode after Thanksgiving dinner. Not good. 😉

I may have laughed hysterically at the fartlek joke… can you tell I’m a mom of boys?

My goals for Thanksgiving dinner are pretty much the same as yours. Oh, and this week, I am determined to complete week 1 of Hal Higdon’s Novice Half Marathon plan.

Okay, the fartlek joke made me LOL. 🙂

No matter how much I run, I just can’t seem to get any faster. I’ve been looking for some ideas for speed work. I’ll have to check out these yassos.

LOL fartleks after a night with beans? I seriously spit out my drink.

You are super fast! Do you sprint for 1/2 of a mile and then run normally for the next 1/2?

My goals for this week: Run 3x (I ran this morning so really only 2x)
Try not to binge on ice cream, pie and cookies. I had a rough week with that.
    Do my schoolwork.
