Happy Tuesday! Let’s back up to yesterday…
I had an evening shift at work so I ate dinner before. I made a massive egg scramble and roasted veggies. My afternoon snack was a piece of toast with PB so I opted out of bread in this meal. It’s a miracle.
I also baked some pumpkin protein bars that were inspired by Jamie Eason’s recipe. I don’t think I’ve ever followed a recipe now that I think about it…
Ben actually liked them! (In hindsight I’m not too happy about this because I wanted them all for myself.)
When I got home from work I had some yogurt and cereal. We have ice cream in the freezer and I had this –> today is full of miracles!
Then, I stayed up too late watching the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Reunion. I can’t get enough of that train wreck. And why is everyone so freakin’ mean to each other?!
This morning I caught up on emails while nursing my drink…
And 5.75 miles later I had more eggs.
I’m sure I’ll turn into an egg soon. I just hope it’s a Cadbury Crème egg
I forgot to draw a winner for the Orville Snack Pack! (Check out the comments for a ton of great snack ideas!!)
The winner is: Jessica: jessicaterry2@ email
You still have time to enter the Vega contest here.
February is National Heart Month and Quaker Oats has offered to donate $500 to my local American Heart Association if we get 100 comments on this post.

And FIVE of you will win a box of Quaker’s new Heart Healthy cereal just for commenting!
How do you nourish what counts? Does heart shape cereal taste better than O’s? Do you wear red on Valentine’s Day?
Contest ends tomorrow 2/8 at 8am PST. Open to residents of US and Canada.Quaker is providing me with a $250 donation to my local American Heart Association chapter; my opinions are entirely my own.
Yum cereal. and eggs! and wooo you’re past 100 comments 🙂
What a great cause! I love Quaker oats!
I love me some cereal! Even better when it’s more healthy so I don’t feel as guilty eating multiple bowls of it.
I just finished a box of cereal this morning and am in need of a new one!!!
What counts is a strong body, so I nourish mine with healthy foods and challenging workouts! I haven’t tried heart shaped cereal, so I can only assume it tastes better than O’s. I will probably wear pink on Valentine’s Day, because I have more pink clothing than red.
I have oats every night for a snack!
i definitely think heart shaped cereal tastes better than O’s! 🙂
I have red hair like you, so I always wear red on valentines day!
I think everything tastes better heart shaped:)
I try to run 4-5 times a week, and I take treadmill walking breaks at work.
I nourish my body trying to listen to it better. I give it yummy, healthy foods and give it ice cream as well. I love to run and I enjoy reading my Bible. I think you need to feed your body and soul. 🙂 Yes I wear red on Valentines day. I’m a 1st grade teacher so Valentines day is….pretty crazy with 21 seven year olds.
anything is better when heart shaped 🙂
I love eggs too RER! Cereal is a snack. Eggs are a meal.
I nourish a healthy lifestyle by exercising, eating well, and listening to my body! Of course heart shaped cereal is better and of course I wear red on valentine’s day 🙂
I love cereal, it is my down fall. Heart shaped cereal sounds awesome!!
I love my oats!!
ANY unique shape makes food taste better! 🙂
Hearts taste better than O’s… just like shaped Kraft mac n’ cheese tastes way better than the normal kind 🙂
I want some cereal! I definitely wear red all the time, regardless of the holidays, it’s my color! lol
i eat a bowl of oatmeal with a huge spoonful of chia seeds and peanut butter every morning!! yummy 🙂
I stay happy. I keep my baby happy, I keep my husband happy, I keep my body happy and in return they keep me happy. It is work and it ain’t all sunshine and roses all of the time, but it is the biggest puzzle piece to staying healthy for me. It makes every thing else so much easier.
It’s also a miracle that I skipped out on bread at dinner tonight…but I did supplement that void with wine. Carbs are so good no matter what form them come in.
Sorry I’m too late to be one of the 100.
Yay for hitting 100!
Yes heart shaped cereal is tasty. I have yet to try this one, but another brand makes one that is quite irresistable.
I plan on wearing red and pink on Valentine’s Day!
such a neat way to raise awareness!
i want to help get you to 100 comments. i love cereal, would love to try the new quaker cereal.
Mmm, yes, I think that heart-shaped would definitely taste better 🙂
I make sure to get in heart-healthy foods like oats almost every day!
I make sure to take time “off” when I feel stressed.
awesome! Go Quaker!
I’ve never had heart-shaped cereal but the O’s from Cascadian farm are pretty good!
What’s your favorite cereal?
I LOVE cereal! I don’t wear red but I definitely dress the kiddos up! So much more fun that way!
Hurray for getting over 100 comments.
I run and work out and eat well and live pretty stress-free.
Looks like you made it to 100!! Yeay you! Yeay heart health!
And yes, heart shaped food naturally tastes better than other shapes!
First thing in the morning I gulp cold water mixed with Chia seeds and Spirulina powder. The smell and taste are not the best, but my skin is clear, my hair shines, and I have not been sick all winter.
What “counts” for me is living a healthy and happy lifestyle. I nourish it through eating well, exercising, and taking time to appreciate the healthy relationships I have with family and friends.
I will likely wear red or pink or Valentine’s… 😉 Any other day of the year, that might be a faux-pax!
Well I think heart shaped Reese Cups taste better, so maybe the same applies to cereal?!?
I am a cereal-killer! 😉 I LOVE ME SOME CEREAL! I love trying new ones!!! 🙂
I love to try new cereal & this one looks good! 🙂
I eat my oats every morning almost without fail.
I am a hopeless romantic, and love Valentine’s Day, therefore you can bet i’ll always be rocking a pink shirt and bright red fingernail polish for the big day. And yes, obviously heart shaped cereal tastes wayyy better….it’s made with love 🙂
I love Heart to Heart cereal so, yes, heart shaped cereal does taste better!
Ah I love trying new cereals! Especially when it’s free – so hard to drop $4-5 on a new food you may or may not like.
I nourish what counts by taking time to read your blog that makes me laugh, at least once every day 😀
i ALWAYS wear red on valentine’s day!
I’m sure heart shape cereal tastes better than O’s! 🙂
I nourish myself with exercise, healthy food, and time to relax. Also, heart shaped cereal DOES taste better than regular ole O’s!
I nourish what counts by eating lots of veggies (important for vegetarians, after all…). Heart shaped cereal, while cool, will taste the same as all other carbs—fantastic!! If I wear red on Valentine’s Day, it’s only by coincidence!
I nourish my body by drinking a homemade green machine juice everyday — it’s loaded with vegetables and fruits and we all know how important consuming those are!
Heart shaped cereal — how cool, I can only imagine they taste better than O’s!
Sometimes I wear red on Valentine’s Day, this year I will.
i luv quaker!
How awesome of Quaker! Love their cereal and love the heart shape 🙂
I nourish what counts by trying to sleep early and exercising for at least 20 minutes. Heart shape cereal makes eating interesting 😀 I wear red on Valentine’s Day if I remember 😉
I think anything shaped into something cute always tastes better 🙂 especially if it’s minature size.
I won’t wear red on Valentine’s day, but I’ll definitely wear pink! I’m more of a pink person than a red person 🙂
Where the heck can I get this cereal. I love quaker cereals, but I have never seen this kind before. If I could win, I would be exstatic. I dont really celebrate Valentine’s day. My dad always gets me flowers and chocolate, but that is about it!
Make that Money!
I wear red for V Day and I feel like a nerd. I think it’s less nerdy now that I have a child.
I will for sure comment for healthy hearts + cereal!
You have me craving oatmeal bars, btw…and now I just pulled out my recipe.
Heart-shaped cereal definitely tastes better than plain Os. They make me smile when I eat ’em. 🙂
Where do I find the recipe for that pumpkin protein bar???
Love Valentine’s Day, let’s all wear red! 🙂
nourish what counts=yoga time after work!
if the heart cereal tastes anything like the oatmeal squares, i could clear an evening (okay, two hours) to take down a box. hurray for aha!
I love red on Valentine’s day! Anything heart shaped tastes better!!
Heart shaped cereal always tastes better!
I think heart-shapped any thing is better!
I think I’ll wear red earrings on Valentine’s Day.
That’s awesome! I am a member of my local AHA Junior Board and the message of the AHA as well as the programs they offer are wonderful.
How great! I think red looks ugly on me, so I rarely wear it! Maybe I’ll wear it this year on Vday! I bet the hearts taste better than the o’s for sure!
I eat quaker oats for breakfast almost everyday!
Great cause! Glad to comment.
Love your blog 🙂
Of course heart-shaped cereal tastes better than the regular O’s 😉
I have really started picking up new things to do at the gym!
I don’t think I’ve ever worn red on Valentine’s day. It is just too cliche. I used to work with someone who wore all of the appropriate colors on all of the holidays. It was a bit too much for me.
I <3 oatmeal!!!
I nourish what counts by eating oatmeal everyday.
I like to go against the norm for holidays, but I’ll wear some red pumps.
Heart or circle, I’ll still eat them!
And I nourish my family with prayer; nourish my body with fruits, vegetables, mixed nuts, and exercise; and nourish my sweet tooth with peanut butter and fro-yo.
I am enjoying water aerobics right now to get my exercise in.
As for red? Does pink count? I have no red maternity shirts so that will have to do ;-p
I don’t purposely wear red or dress up for valentines. Maybe my husband and I are Valentines Day version of the Grinch?
I nourish my heart with lots of fruits, veggies, whole grains, H20 and exercise!
Those look yummy! I love Quaker Oatmeal squares too!
OF COURSE heart shaped cereal tastes better than plain ole’ o’s!!!
😉
I nourish what counts by sharing heart-healthy meals, like oatmeal topped with walnuts, with my sweetie.
I don’t own any red clothes, so wearing red is out of the picture!
I also don’t have a car in Chicago so I’m forced to walk to public transit every day, every step counts right?
I’d love to try that cereal – I won’t know if hearts taste better than o’s til I try it! And yes, I wear red on valentine’s day. Or some variation of red. Pink. Magenta. Who knows?
Yes – red & pink on valentines day! My boss even made her 3 sons wear red on vday last year.
I kind of want to go find that cereal just to eat it with the hubby on V-Day.
Also, I totally stayed up late watching the RHOBH Reunion Part 2. What I don’t understand is that they all act like they like each other on the show and then hate each other on the reunion (Adrienne, I’m talking to you. Although I do like your purple-y/blue dress sleeve ensemble.)
Everything heart shaped is a lot more fun! I don’t look good in red, but I do wear pink on Valentines day.
I love this effort that they’re putting out there.
I have NO idea what I’ll be wearing on Valentines Day, but I bet I’ll be eating oatmeal for breakfast. 😉
thanks for the giveaway, monica!
question answers: walk to do my errands; definitely; yes!
I’ve started going to our company’s free fitness center at lunch
I love eggs, too. I don’t own anything red. So, I guess that answers your question about what I wear on Valentine’s Day, huh?
If I wear red on V-day, its just a coincidence.
Ohh a heart shaped cereal would definitely taste better than O’s! Hehe!
Well obviously heart-shaped cereal is the best! 🙂 I’ll probably wear either red of pink on Valentine’s Day. Since I’m on the company culture committee and we’ll be decorating for V-Day I might as well get into the full spirit of it!
My kids actually like those protein bars, which really says something. The heart shaped cereal would be awesome for valentines day.
Ooh, I love quaker cereals! Especially quaker oatmeal squares, so I’m very excited to try this new cereal!
Yes, heart shapes taste way better then Os! I like to wear pink on Valentines Day!
Of course hearts taste better than o’s!
I try to eat clean and drink plenty of water. Yes, heart shaped cereal definitely tastes better!!! Not a fan of red, but might do hot pink nails for V-Day.
I make healthy choices and plan ahead when I can. And heart shaped cereal definitely tastes better!
Lots of water and lots of sleep!
Sleep, H2O, and vitamins…also some regular cardio thrown in here and there. I would say, especially strung on a string around your neck so you look festive for V Day and you have a snack in proximity at at all times. and sometimes.
Heart shaped all the way!
Hearts definitely taste better than O’s!
Heart shape is definitely where it’s at 🙂 It would be great to win!
Heart shaped O’s are way better than regular ones!
That cereal look yummy! I bet you will get a lot more than 100 comments.
Anything tastes better when its in a fun shape! For example, at Christmas, my boyfriend made my eggs in a basket with a Christmas tree cookie cutter. It was awesome. Hopefully I’ll get some valentines eggs in a basket with the heart cookie cutter 🙂
To nourish my heart and body, I eat oatmeal for breakfast and drink lots of water all day. And get to bed early every night for much needed sleep!
my husband loves this cereal! Heart shaped cereal definitely tastes better then regular old o’s.
I do yoga when I’m feeling frazzled. I do normally wear something red on valentine’s day and yes, heart shapes do taste better!
I eat a healthy breakfast (oatmeal). Heart shaped food always tastes better and I’ll wear red if I think about it. 🙂
I’m wearing red today. Does that count? For a while all of my workout clothes were red and black, all from Hot Topic of course. Quality!
I nourish what counts by being sure to put these things first. Like my relationship with my husband, some days it is more difficult to be purposefully vulnerable and transparent and kind, but that doesn’t give me any excuse, so i need to make every effort to nourish even if that day he doesn’t.
I love oats! I could probably eat them every meal if my stupid gestationally diabetic body would allow me. It won’t. Boo. And I’d totally go for Os over hearts. 🙂
i make sure to actually make time to exercise. without planning it out, i don’t think i would be so committed!
I’ll probably wear my neato Valentine socks on Valentine’s Day. They have red in them 🙂
Hopefully we can get to 100!
I love Quaker Oats! (and I always wear red on Valentines Day :))
If I have a red shirt that is clean I do wear it on valentines day. If not, other colors may make an appearance.
I eat a ton of oats! I went vegetarian a year ago and its done amazing things for my cholesterol, even more so than just eating oats. More veggies and more oats= a happy heart!
I make sure to nourish my body with the basic food groups and my soul with peanut butter!
I try to do something active once a day. I think the heart shapes are so cute!
I try to get a minimum of 8 hours sleep. I function well on much less, but not for long. Mostly, I just love sleep!
I don’t think I’ve ever had heart-shaped cereal, but it looks pretty cool! Donate that money, Quaker!
I wear red when I can, with my hair and eye color red is not the most flattering on me, but I will wear it for a cause!
Man, what a miracle filled day for you! I consider it a success when I forget about the ice cream in the freezer….hey I have ice cream in the freezer….
I don’t wear red on Valentine’s Day….I actually go to great lengths to make sure I am not. Yes, I am a party pooper.
I’ve made those bars! I really liked them. My husband claimed he did not, but then managed to eat all but two. 🙂
I wear red or pink on Valentine’s Day!
And Cadbury Creme Eggs are my favorite Easter candy, so I wouldn’t mind turning into one, either.
Fun shapes always taste better!
I love Quaker Oats!
That cereal looks yummy and I’ll love to win a box.
your egg scrambles always make me want eggs INSTANTLY.
I love oats and heart shape is of course more delish.
I always wear red on V-Day!!
The pumpkin bars look amazing. Is there a recipe that I can have for those?
I have never had heart shaped cereal, but I think it would taste better. 🙂
Sleep is so important! If I don’t sleep enough I can’t nourish my body properly.
On V-Day I usually wear something pink because I don’t own anything red.
Those pumpkin protein bars look awesome!
I nourish my body by eating veggies at lunch (salad and minestrone soup was on the menu for today).
I wear red EVERY day since its my favorite color. :-). And I would love a Cadbury Creme egg right about now!
I am sure you will get over 100 comments!
I haven’t tried that cereal yet, I bet it is good.
Drink plenty of water
I make sure to get enough sleep! Heart shaped cereal tastes infinitely better 😉 Will not be rockin’ red on V Day.
Sometimes I wear red on Valentin’s Day. Just depends on what’s clean that day. 😉
