Ben and I are currently en route to Curacao! This trip is to celebrate our honeymoon and Ben’s birthday. It’s our honeymooniversary 🙂
We went on our first honeymoon to Belize this same week last year.
This post recaps our last year together. It was super crazy, but fun. We definitely grew together in the process.
We don’t exchange presents, but plan trips instead. This way we get to spend time together and see the world.
From the very beginning of our relationship we have wanted to see new things together. So far we’ve been too…
The Grand Canyon
Las Vegas
Costa Rica (my fave so far)
Long story short, we love to travel. That’s part of the reason we had a pseudo-destination wedding in Paso Robles, CA aka Central California’s Wine Country.
We say that we fell in love on all those long road trips and airplane rides.
I joke that God strategically placed Ben’s dimple on his right side. So when he was driving me all around California I could admire his it. (Doesn’t he look so different without facial hair?)
This pic was taken on our first trip to Yosemite together. This was the first time we attempted to climb Half Dome.
We conquered it the second time.
Our next adventure is Curacao.
I didn’t know much about Curacao before planning this trip. But we wanted an island in the sun somewhere. After a lot of research, I chose Curacao because it is a Dutch island and Ben is Dutch. Basically, everywhere we hang out in CA is Spanish speaking, so it only seems fair 🙂

Curacao is off the coast of Venezuela. It is one of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao). That’s pretty much all I know so far.
We’ll be there from Sunday to Friday and are planning on a lot of beach fun, plus island exploration. I’m going to be blogging the days events and eats on the trip. So feel free to ask questions or leave comments.
We are actually not arriving on the island until about 2pm, so I won’t be back until late tonight. See ya later!

Hi, Monica. I read your about me where you said you didn’t try to lose weight for your wedding since you weren’t in the right state of mind. Looking at your wedding pictures, you had no need to lose weight! You looked (and look) gorgeous and fit. Congratulations on your one year.

How fun! You should check out Jamaica sometime too, really great beaches and lots of activities. We are thinking about going to Costa Rica for our honeymoon next summer, which cities did you stay in or any recommendations?

Wonderful pics, how nice to travel together – love the ‘Just Married’ on the van and hubby with this thumbs up – I didn’t travel much pre-kids, or during kids, but now that mine are mostly grown-up, my dh and I are starting to travel and it’s wonderful. Enjoy your next vacation!
