This afternoon I picked up a Publix sub sandwich for lunch. I don’t know if it’s because I can’t have them all the time or what, but I always look forward to them when I visit!
Everyone was going to the movies and I was going to opt out (I actually don’t like watching movies at the theater, weirdo). But, I realized they were playing Young Adult, which I wouldn’t mind watching so I went to that while everyone else saw Sherlock Holmes. It was okay. I liked that it was non-cheesy, straight forward.
I’ve never discussed it on the blog, but I have this rare mental issue that forces me to have popcorn at the movie theater no matter what. One time Ben and I feasted on Souplantation and then the movies right after. Yep, had to have some. It’s sad, really. I hope they come up with a cure for this soon!
When we got home I had Soup in Salad
Ben’s mom made a very pea thick soup and since I was having a big bowl of coleslaw with random toppings, I added a scoop and it perfectly wilted the cabbage and became a dressing.
I might also have that CAD – ‘cake addiction disease’ I’ve heard about on Web MD. Send help.
I am really struggling with my 2012 Goals. Last year my goals were very obvious – I had 3 specific things to accomplish. But, I am at a weird place and need to prioritize things around here
Do you have your goals / resolutions decided?
Do you have popcorn disease too? A similar disease??
Elana says
Ok, I know you posted this a while ago but I was off-line and just am catching up and had to comment as I have a serious popcorn disease. In that, I’ll agree to see anything in the theatre (even if I don’t really want to see it) because it means I get POPCORN. I tried the last time we went to see something to not get any but during the previews I leaned over to my husband and told him I could hear everyone else enjoying their popcorn and it was driving me crazy so.. I ran out of the theatre and got some! It’s an issue. Or… wonderful. I read all those things about how unhealthy movie theatre popcorn is but. I. Can’t. Give. It. Up. TOO GOOD. Ok. That was some lengthy popcorn-love-induced blabbering, I apologize.

Wow…I am so happy to finally have found someone else that doesn’t enjoy seeing movies in a theater. I don’t know what it is either…I either prefer to watch at home (or at a friend’s home). I also seem to have a very short movie attention span, so it could be that too!
As for the popcorn…I love the smell of popcorn but really don’t enjoy eating it. It always makes my stomach feel strange afterwards – even just a small amount. I do always need to have a drink at the movies though.
A Movie Tavern was recently built in my area, which may change my mind on theater movies – real meals and beer, wine and mixed drinks…sounds like a more enticing movie theater to me!
Sarah @blueeyedbarbie.blogspot.com says
I have the grapes disease. No matter how full/sick i am. I must have some.
Alaina says
I always have to have something at the movie theater. I don’t go very often so I figure it’s ok to indulge. It’s either popcorn and/or Raisinets. 🙂
anna says
i too have popcorn addiction. i also dislike seeing movies in the theater, but it i ever do, no matter if i’m full to the brim with dinner, i must eat a vat of popcorn, with the fake butter squirted all over! mmmmm….fake butter….i could drink it. guess that’s not going to help me lose the 5 pounds i’ve gained since thanksgiving (ahhhhh!).
seriously, though, i really enjoy your blog. i appreciate your honesty and down-to-earthness. go easy on yourself, though, you’re a beautiful, witty, fun girl!
Tee @ She Writes, Bites, and Window Shops says
I absolutely have the popcorn disease too!
VanessaG says
I have ICAD=ice cream addiction disorder. I eat it every single day of my life. If I don’t, I kinda get antsy. Crazy huh? I have a few goals so far: only drink por(diet mtn dew addiction as well) on weekends, spend more time in God’s word, and to eat less ice cream. 🙂
Amy says
I have SERIOUS popcorn disease. Each time I was pregnant I would go to the theater and get popcorn… TO GO! DIdn’t even see a movie! It was awesome.
Carolyn says
I must have the antithesis of your disease. I’m not a big fan of popcorn to start with (unless its fresh kettle corn, or some kind of fancy popcorn smothered in chocolate and toffee etc), and once you also factor in my extreme frugalness when it comes to overpriced concessions, well, there you have it. lol.
Amber K says
My disease is more like must chew on candy while watching a movie, although I actually really don’t like seeing movies in theaters. I hate when people make noise during movies, I hate not being able to pause when I need to go to the bathroom, but I mostly hate how uncomfortable it is. I prefer to view my movies while lying down.
Laura says
I saw Sherlock Holmes and loved it. It took me a while to get into it, but the end was wicked awesome.
I have the ice cream disease… where I black out, inhale an entire pint, and don’t remember any of it.
I had all my 2012 goals lined out, but now I’m thinking I need to cut back. I don’t wanna!
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
I have a nacho disease and a “steal the kids popcorn” disease at the movies. And a “must eat ice cream every night” disease. Hopefully they find a cure soon.
Christine @ Oatmeal in my Bowl says
Popcorn disease. LOL. We have the same in this family. Can stuff our selves silly with dinner, but still need the popcorn for a movie.
But what is even funnier is CAD. Nice… I think its a real thing to be worried about. 😉
As for resolutions, I’m basically doing what Eating as a Path to Yoga is doing above. Except, I am making sure I live by 3 words – Explore, Health, and Friendship – are my words. Best of luck coming up with some goals.
Missy says
Since my blog is called the sugar coated athlete, I think you know I have plethora of diseases. :-0
I have races lined up for 2012 but no real goals for them, except for Ironman. The goal is to finish, period.
Eating as a Path to Yoga says
I get the kid-sized drink/popcorn when I’m at the theatre. I don’t have a resolution, just a “Word of the Year.” Last year it was “SAVOR.” This year it is “CALM.”
denee says
there is a store here in austin, texas called “reel popcorn” — and all they sell is tasty, tasty popcorn. most of it is flavored (garlic parmesean? yes, please). but they also have movie theater butter. and it’s all popped daily. its SO GOOD. i can eat it until i am sick to my stomach.
i, too am having resolution issues. i know i want to run at least 1,000 miles in 2012. blog more (just started one) but i need to figure out more “life specific” goals as well.
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life says
I’m pretty sure I have another similar disease. Mine is also CAD – Cookie Addiction Disease.
Damn, it’s a hard disease to cure!
Jessica @ Running To Be Skinny says
I read in my Lifetime Fitness magazine something that may help you decide your resolution for 2012. List three top goals, then choose the one goal that would have the most positive affect on your life.
I’ve decided to seek spiritual growth this year through daily scripture study, of course I’m also going to keep on my fitness journey but entering races and working on my 5k and 10k times. Good luck!
Floey says
I love the smell of movie popcorn but am not a huge fan of the taste…kettle korn is great though…
MizFit says
oh YES YES YES SISTER.
I HAVE THAT TOO.
and yea
Im shouting
xo
Jessica says
Funny, I don’t even like popcorn.
And I rarely get something to eat the movies – it’s really far to expensive.
I don’t have any goals for 2012. And I don’t think I want to pursue any.
Okay – I’ll have to finish my dissertation, but that’s simply required.
But I don’t want to lose weight, I don’t necessarily want to increase my mileage (did 1400 this year), I want to run a sub 1:40 half-marathon, but I feel that this is only a matter of time. (And I’ll need a good day.)
So yeah. 🙂
You don’t have to have goal to be succesfull, really.
Cinnamon @eatpraytri says
I don’t have the popcorn disease, but my husband does. Seriously, EVERY TIME we go to the movies, he HAS to get it. Doesn’t matter if we just had a huge meal beforehand. I love and it this about him, b/c I love popcorn but hate…..well…ok I just love it and secretly I am glad he suffers this same affliction as you! 😉
Christine says
You haven’t lived until you eat a “hoagie” in Philadelphia 🙂 When I moved to Ohio for school and I heard that they called a hoagie a sub I was heart broken haha
Lorin says
I have a dessert disorder, where I want to dessert every night and pretty much give it to myself. Not saying that it’s a complete bad thing, but it would be nice to just have dessert because I want to not because I almost feel like I have to…My main goals though are to workout 4 times a week and trying to mindfully eat. One question, how many times a week should I do strength training if I want it to make a difference?I was thinking two or three times but realistically two. I just wanted to get a trainer’s insight. Thanks!
Jodi says
I’m in a weird place too…I think I’ll hold off setting resolutions until the stress/sugar coma of the last few weeks goes away.. 😉
Heather says
Publix subs are THE BEST.
Falon says
Man, I saw Young Adult on Christmas and I have to say… I was disappointed. I expected a dark comedy, but it felt all dark with no comedy. Good acting though. Oh and I also suffer from the same popcorn eating syndrome… I keep hope alive… until there’s a cure…
runeatrepeat says
Yeah, I was disappointed it wasn’t funny.

I love Publix Roast Beef subs … I do not know what they have that is so good … there is Boar’s Head Roast Beef here too … but the subs are just not the same …
I have my 9 out of 10 resolutions set for next year … I did 6 out of 10 this year … I have a tab in my blog dedicated to my year’s resolutions … hope to do better in 2012!
Losing Lindy says
I have never seen such a small amount of popcorn at the movies…I never buy food at the movies..ever.
I will bring microwave popcorn in, and I will refill my water bottle from the water fountain. I can’t justify it. It is so expensive.
My goal for 2012 is to double my mileage on dailymile. I am at 299 right now, so next year I hope to get in 600. I need to continue to make better choices, but that isn’t a resolution, that should be a habit. Too bad, it isn’t a biting nails habit instead. I have no idea how many calories are in bacterial infested nails..but it might be an easier habit to obtain. 😉
Rebecca @ Miss Magnolia Munches & Moves says
I have ice cream addictive disorder. Sooo, I’m giving up sugar through January.
Sabrina says
I am working on my resolutions. First one: Not to be working in retail by the holidays of 2012. (This year was killer).
I love having popcorn at the movies too, but then I want a drink. If I get a drink I will have to go to the restroom during the movie, which I don’t like doing out of fear of missing something important.
