Pumpkin Milkshake

Ever since spotting the Pumpkin Smash at Jamba Juice I knew I wanted to make my own Pumpkin Milkshake! This morning was the perfect time for it since I had a lot of left over pumpkin from the huge can I opened last night.

My pumpkin shake contained: 1 container vanilla Chobani, 1/2c pumpkin, 1/2c soy milk (more added later since it was too thick), pumpkin pie spice, 1  & 1/2 Tbs. brown sugar, dash maple syrup (this really helped!) and ice cubes. I topped it with Pecan Spice cereal, which is really pecan granola 🙂IMG_1692

On the side I had PB toast with pumpkin butter. I love PB & jam on a good, nutty piece of bread!IMG_1693My Pumpkin flavored breakfast!IMG_1687

Since figuring out my calorie goal last night, well actually since seeing the R.D. back in April, I have been shooting for 500 calories for breakfast to prevent overeating later in the day. I tallied this up and it hits right around there. Breakfast is easy to tally, it’s the rest of the day that I don’t pay attention to!

Marathon Training: Today was a Rest Day so I did some light strength training while watching Jon & Kate reruns and then took a short walk/jog with Ben (under 2 miles).

I love that smoothie recipe. I have a can of pumpkin waiting to be used, except I accidentally bought pumpkin pie filling instead! I hate it when I do that, maybe I will only use a little bit of it for the flavor.

Pumpkin + yogurt + peanut flour makes a delicious, mousse style yogurt

Julie – I’m the same way. You probably won’t see many smoothies over here in the winter!

I wish I wasn’t a baby when it comes to the cold because I’d be all over making that smoothie everyday. For whatever reason I can handle ice cream in the cold but drinking a smoothie chills me to the bone and my body refuses to warm up.

Oh man- pumpkin themed breakfast??? That sounds pretty amazing. Where did you get your pumpkin butter? Don’t say TJ’s because I’ll cry.

I love that you watched Jon & Kate reruns during your workout!

yum pumpkin theme! too bad if i eat too much carrots/ pumpkin/ squash/ sweet potatoes my skin picks up the orange pigment! but i still have orange things a lot! one of my favorite pumpkin recipes uses silken tofu blended with carrots and pumpkin and spices!

Breakfast is always my largest meal of the day! I find if I skimp on calories in the morning, I’m just snacky for the rest of the day and actually end up eating more. I must go on a search for pumpkin butter – it sounds fab!
