Hello! As part of the Rock N Blog team I scored some great discounts for those of you who want to run a Rock N Roll Half Marathon, Marathon or now… one of their virtual races! So at the end of the post is a discount code that is now valid for RnR Las Vegas and a link to the new virtual race series!
Each run is open for a limited time (about 4 weeks) and calls for you to run a 5K where ever YOU want! In keeping with the Rock N Roll theme the races are labeled as a Guitar Solo , Drum Solo and Lead Singer. If you do all 3 you are “Making The Band” and get an extra medal.
Top Reasons to Run a Virtual Race
1. You set the Start Time!
Want to stay up all night dancing… or eating ice cream while watching Bravo? Well, a virtual race means you get to start when you want!
2. You can invite your friends to join in and call it an ‘Invitational’
3. Instead of paying $$$ for race photographs you can give your little neighbor kid 5 bucks and have him stand outside and snap a few pics of you in action.
4. You can actually fill your water bottle with whatever you want.
5. You don’t have to worry about anyone making fun of your running form (especially if you chose to spike your energy drink with an adult beverage).
6. You get all the post-race food to yourself (because it’ll be in your kitchen).
7. You don’t have to worry about spectators saying “You’re almost there!” at mile 1.
8. You can dress up and call it a costume race!
9. You can offer whatever food you want along the course, preferably kept on your body for easy access…
Finally a use for my pizza holder!!!
10. You WIN!!!! You get first place in your own race!!!
Bonus: Your post-race victory party can be anything you say!
And when you WIN the race you can reward yourself by signing up for another one!
May I make a suggestion?

I’m sorry – I thought this worked for the virtual run but it was my error. My code only works for the group events. But you should totally do one of those, they are amazing!!!
The first virtual run is open from now until July 19th so we need to get on it!!
Question: Do you prefer races on a Saturday or Sunday?
Hmmmm… I can’t decide!
Eri @ Aloha Mama Runner says
I like races on Saturdays so I have a Sunday to rest before I start another new working week…. But Saturday’s are usually the errands day + kids gymnastics classes…
I’ve never been to any of the RnR races so I’m jealous! I really wish they would come out to Hawaii!!!
Rebecca @ simply-rebecca says
I’ve been wanted to sign up for the RnR Denver (where I live) but it’s $100 and was going back and forth on it because of the price. If the discount works, it may make my decision… Thanks for sharing. Oh, and Saturday for races ALL THE WAY. I like having Sunday off for extra eating and resting before the week starts!

Why in the world would you pay 30$ for a “virtual race”? Just go on a run, it’s free LOL.

I think part of it is it’s a goal distance for people and they train for it and aim for a certain time. It takes the pressure off if you get super nervous at races, but still feels valid. Plus – some run for the ‘bling’ and you get a medal 🙂

Saturday….definitely. I prefer to have the extra day to relax and recover from (usually) an early wake up call.
Kathy says
Sheesh I always kind of cringe when I see that pizza pocket necklace thingie…..who are these people that really put time and effort into something like that??
Funny stuff….
I prefer my drinks on a Saturday and my Relaxation on Sunday. 😉
