23 Jul

Hello! I’m still in Florida, but today is a rest day so I took a long walk to Dunkin Donuts for an iced coffee. Luckily I brought along an umbrella for some shade because it ended up pouring for a little bit during my 5 mile walk. I really like walking and kinda think it’s the best exercise. Anyone else?

Running Coach Wanted in New Orleans for Girls on the Run

A reader from GOTR New Orleans contacted me and asked me to pass this on…  “We are currently gearing up for the fall season and are looking to recruit both head and assistant coaches. I am reaching out today to ask if you could pass this information on to your readers and help us recruit some awesome coaches!”

Interested readers can find more information at gotrnola.org or email jane@gotrnola.org. Thank you for your consideration!

Vegetarian Meal Delivery Discount Code

Parking for San Francisco Marathon Discount!

Parking in San Francisco can often be a stressful task, especially on race day. Tell your audience to save time and money, upwards to 70% off the drive-up rate in some cases! In fact, we’d like to offer your readers 15% off their online reservation!
All your readers have to do is use the promo code: SFMARATHON when booking San Fran parking. To book, click here.

Your readers should be able to book parking (starting yesterday) until July 27 (end of the marathon). Booking is a 10 mile radius from 515 Mason Street, San Francisco (one of our garages closest to the Fort Mason Center); so all available parking garages within Parking Panda’s inventory. I’ve been looking and a lot of them are filling up, so booking before you get there will be good!

Race for the Cure Orange County Kickoff Event

We are having a hero kickoff event on Wednesday, July 29 around 1 p.m. at Pac Life in Newport Beach with Race for the Cure supporters, sponsors, volunteers etc. We’ll have people dressed in hero capes to rally support for the Race and raise awareness about the importance of breast health.

Sign up for the Race for the Cure event Sept 27 here.

(Working on a discount for this one, stay tuned.)

Disneyland Half Marathon and 10K with Team all4kids

Team all4kids still has openings for runners/fundraisers to run the Disneyland Half / 10K in September. They are offering a joint fundraising deal too – if you and a friend sign up the fundraising goal is $500 each (must be two people for a total of $1000 but I bet they don’t have to actually be your friend).

Team all4kids still has bibs available in the 10K and Half Marathon. To secure your running spot, please contact Kelly Thomas today: kellythomas@all4kids.org

I totally agree, walking is the BEST! I love listening to podcasts and just zoning out and walking 🙂

Yes to walking! I don’t understand when people say it isn’t exercise. I mean honestly, it’s better than being a lazy bones sitting on the couch all afternoon. It’s my favorite kind of exercise. Yay 🙂

I’m lad you said you like walking because I’m a big fan too. Unfortunately, I’ve seen a lot of walker shaming across social media lately. That makes me really sad because no everyone is physically able to run and walking really is just a slow run.

I lost weight initially from walking not running. And it’s the best way to catch up with friends (am I the only one that can’t run and talk).

I definitely cannot run and talk – but I love to walk and catch up with friends! Hope you’re enjoying FL!
