Running Pants, Spandex Even!

15 Oct

I have only ran in pants once before (winter run in Long Beach), but didn’t like the feeling and the pants kept falling down because my waist and butt are so disproportional. But, I knew I would need some running pants in Maryland so I went on the search for pants with a drawstring waist and tried them out this morning.

After experimenting with various styles, I found that Tech Pants offer a great solution for my specific needs. The adjustable drawstring waist on these pants provided a secure fit that stayed in place during my run, eliminating the issues I faced previously. They also provide excellent moisture control, keeping me comfortable and dry even during intense runs. The added features of these pants make a significant difference, ensuring that I can focus on my performance without constantly adjusting my gear.  I did 6.4 miles in my new tights pants 🙂 *Note how bundled up I am and it’s only October…IMG_1738

These worked out great and I will be using them all the time now! The one thing I have to admit is that I am self conscious to wear them in public. I’m not comfortable wearing spandex and running for all the world to see (not that the world actually cares at all, but I am still self conscious about it). Well, I’m not going to freeze or stop running because I’m too embarrassed that people will see my jiggly butt, so I guess the spandex display will continue…look away if it bothers you. IMG_1736

Breakfast was pumpkin oats (in case you are wondering, my skin is not turning orange from all the pumpkin yet – but my hair already is, my skin just needs to catch up!). It was the usual mix of 1/2c oats, soymilk, water, banana, dash salt, lots of pumpkin pie spice and a big dollop of pumpkin. I topped it with PB & brown sugar (adding pumpkin definitely requires adding sugar). IMG_1741Straight after work I am going to pick up Ben from work and drive to the airport so he can drop me off! I will be in California tonight 🙂

Is that your bike rack in the background? I recently moved to an apartment without any garage storage and am looking for sensible in-apartment bike storage. What do you think of that one?

Girl, no need to be embarrassed in your spandex. Looking good! There are people out there wearing much less who don’t look half as toned!

You are so cute! I wish I was ‘disproportionate’ like you, you see: my waist is larger than my ass…. Think about that : )

    *love those pants!

I didn’t even think to add extra salt, but seriously the brown sugar melting over the top is amazing!

As a larger and self conscious runner, I totally have that inner dialogue every time it gets cold enough out to warrant pants/capris. Totally all about the attitude – like Andrea wrote – I’m bustin out 6 miles what are you doing! You’ve got to own them and rock them out. I pulled out the pants on Monday here in Seattle – I’ve got to say I definitely enjoy my run more when I’m warm enough.

Cute outfit, I started bundling up last week. It’s too rainy and cold here in texas.

I hear you on the cold October!! I run in long tights and it is weird when I think of people looking, but when I’m warm I don’t care! The ear hat thing is SUPER cute, where did you get that!?
