Running to Whole Foods for Tofu

Uncategorized

19 Dec

Tonight I went to a little blogger meet up at Whole Foods for dinner. The girls got together for one more night of fun before Sarah and I leave town for Christmas (rumor has it we are actually reindeer and run Santa’s sleigh around the world).  I cannot confirm.IMG_3682 (800x600)

I carpooled with SR and got to ride in her Smart Car! Truth be told, I barely fit in it. IMG_3679 (800x600)

Truth be told #2, driving a Smart Car to Whole Foods to meet up with fellow bloggers just sounds too hipster to be cool.hipster kitty(image source)

Once Upon a Lime Sarah was unhappy that they only had 4 varieties of quinoa dishes tonight. Life is tough in the OC.(Heather and Pam joined us too.)IMG_3670 (800x600)

Obviously, I won the heaviest salad bar contest. But, these girls don’t know who they’re eating with if they thought they stood a chance.IMG_3671 (800x600)

Taking a pic of my food?! Apparently hipster dog does this too…hipster puppy(image source)

Sadly, tofu isn’t a regular menu item in Alaska and SR is not a fan.IMG_3673 (800x600)

She got one tiny piece to try it, but didn’t want to bite. We had to stare her down until she caved…IMG_3675 (800x600)

Or maybe OUAL was staring me down because taking pics in WF is not hipster acceptable. Sorry to do something so uncool in the presence of your scarf.IMG_3676 (800x600)

Victory was not ours as she thought it tasted like sponges. Yep, she eats sponges as pre-run fuel. They’re full of carbs or Carb-board if you will.IMG_3674 (800x600)

I got fruit for dessert, which is kinda very sad. Luckily, Pam brought Dove peppermint bark! Yes, it’s very good. Seasonal food #89 you must try asap.IMG_3678 (800x600)

If you want to become a hipster check out this link for a list of requirements. Here’s the Cliffs Notes on how to be a hipster:

  • Wear glasses
  • Become vegan
  • Drink coffee (a lot)
  • Shop at Urban Outfitters, tell everyone it’s from a thrift shop
  • Only eat organic, but smoke
  • Discover things before they’re cool (You already discovered this very uncool blog, so there’s one vote toward hipsterdom!)

Whole Foods grilled tofu with brown sauce and scallions is very good.
It is actually a bit crisp on the outside and tender on the inside….Do they make that kind in the OC?

I am very disappointed with the new Whole foods we have here in Orlando – apparently Orlando is not a very friendly vegan town even though we have some fabulous vegan restaurants- but I do love the “salad” bar there- my plate is ALWAYS the heaviest- 😀

Hahah everytime I hear people talk about hipsters I think about that show Two broke girls, so awseome.

I NEVER understand why people who are vegetarian or vegan, run or do a crap load of yoga .. yet smoke .. that just totally eludes me.

i think there should be something about dudes getting a $150 haircut/style to look like their hair is all shaggy and never styled and they just rolled out of bed.

Ooooh! Don’t forget they have to be those squareish rim glasses. And, in my experience, the hippest hipsters have beards and wear cooler belts than me.

my WF doesn’t have booths..I am feeling sort of left out

We only have wooden chairs and tables. I have to agree with SK re tofu, I am not a fan either. I will eat it in spring rolls, maybe trick her into trying those 😉

“eat organic, but smoke” classic. That pic of the dog in the scarf is hipster gold. I think you have to have a dog like that in order to be a hipster too, but you are right the scarf and the SMART car are essential.

I live in Portland, Oregon. Portland is only second to Brooklyn and the Mission District of San Francisco in hipster population. In the summer time knee length cut off jeans is all I see! It looks like your WF salad bar still carries marinated mushrooms. Mine stopped, and so did the one by my parent’s in Northern California. I’m so bummed!

Haha. I love your hipster list. I have very hipster glasses and I know it. I’m also sexy and I know it. Just kidding. But that’s a fun workout song. I’m afraid of tofu too. The smartcar is too cute. I want a ride!!
